TWIN ATTACK (Lin)

[Forrest & Skye Cheng]

Lunch break! Thank all that was good, it was finally lunch. Forrest and Skye bolted out of their classrooms without waiting for their teachers to officially dismiss them and immediately made their way to the cafeteria, high-fiving each other as they realized they were some of the first in line for food. They each grabbed a heaping tray of the stuff before gazing around the room, trying to decide who would be best to sit with.

So many options! They both had quite a few friends (as well as people that disliked them) around the area, and after pondering their choices, they silently grinned at each other and bounced over to two of their favorite people.

"Hey, strangers!"

"Whatup, cuz?"

There were a couple of gestalt pairs currently at the school, but the two that had caught their attention were actually relatives (through marriage or something, the twins never really recalled). Bolin and Chonglin were great to hang out with, because not only were they just fun people in general, but it was a lot easier to spend time with people that really understood you!

"Man, I'm so ready for winter break," Skye sighed, biting into a bread roll as he settled down next to Bolin.

"We just finished summer break!" Forrest retorted, sitting next to Chonglin. "Stop complaining."

Skye pouted, then turned to the other two. "How are you guys surviving so far?"

Having a study hall as the period before lunch was very convenient, and Lin took that as an advantage to leave early 'going to return a book or see a teacher' to head off to the cafeteria. When they got there it was, like usual, very close to empty. A few students lingered around tables due to similar circumstances as the twins. It was not too many people they knew, so they went to the lunch line to grab food before there was a line sweeping the perimeter of the room.

They settled down side by side at an empty table. It was a bit of a disappointment seeing how they saw a friend in this spot previously, but now gone to their next class. All the same Lin began their meal. Together they happily conversed about little things, the next class, how easy the homework they've been assigned was, and such. One of their favorite things about being a Gestalt pair was that they could technically talk to themselves without seeming crazy. But at the same time it was still having a conversation with each their brothers. Having not been completely synced yet was sort of confusing for the two when trying to describe stuff or talk about themselves (switching between a collective and singular term had become a bad habit of theirs).

Not long into their food, Bolin and Chonglin heard two familiar voices. They looked up each to the person on their side to see their kind-of-sort-of-in-a-way cousins, Forrest and Skye. Now there were four mouths to talk with, four minds on their way to syncing into two, and in a way two people. It was bound to get fun. Especially seeing how Lin already knew these two to be good friends and total goof-balls.

"Hey look, it's the trouble makers again." Bolin nudged to his brother jokingly.

"Yeah, we better be careful around them. They're asking what's up."

"Then we'd better give them a straight answer." They nodded and turned to Forrest and Skye.

"The ceiling." Their voices in sync as they responded with a straight face. Then they broke into laughter as their friends started to get into a little spat over breaks from school. They were quite the characters to be around, and they were good people to be around when you wanted to feel good.

"We've made it this far." The older brother shrugged, sticking a spoonful of applesauce into his mouth.

"Don't worry, you guys can live until winter break. We believe in you!" Taking advantage of his brother's full mouth, Chonglin added towards Skye with a chuckle.

The two brothers looked at each other with mock hurt as the other twins greeted them.

"Trouble makers! Did you hear them, they think we cause trouble!" Skye exclaimed.

"That's absurd, we're perfect little angels."

The both broke into snickers as they turned their attention back to the other two just as they answered their question. In response, Forrest and Skye both looked up to see that, indeed, the ceiling was up.

"Well, whadaya know," Forrest whistled, both of them keeping a straight face along with the other gestalts until they fell into laughter once again. Ah, they really needed to hang out with these guys more often!

Skye continued to tear into his roll while Forrest started attacking a sandwich, both of them listening to the other two as they chewed.

"Mmf, I'm fine with studying, it's just this idiot that doesn't want to do it," Forrest snickered, prodding his thumb towards Skye.

"Studying is boring," Skye grumbled. It was one of the major differences the two had that both of them had a hard time believing would sync up with each other eventually. "Besides, we each really only need to do half of the work each and we'll both know all we need to," he added smugly. One of the many benefits of being a gestalt.

Forrest rolled his eyes. "Anyway, what have you guys been up to?" he asked, deciding to drop the subject for now. "Not getting into too much trouble, right?"

"Perfect little fallen angels," was slipped out before a bite out of a sandwich was taken. It was quickly followed by snickers.

Bolin shook his head. "What to do with these two? I'd love to see how awkwardly procrastinating you will be when you're completely in sync." Forrest and Skye being identical twins, it was easy to see how they could become gracefully in sync when they're power develops completely. But some traits of theirs was hard to imagine between the two, they're motivation was quite a contrast. It was always hard to imagine a full merge, especially for themselves or looking at two they've known as separate people. "We agree with Skye though."

"Studying is boring." Lin never had the best time with school, so it was easy to agree when someone started complaining about it. "Eh, not much. We've been staying out of trouble lately."

"You would know if we did anyways. You'd probably be filming our stunt, or helping with it." They kind of wanted to get back into having some rule breaking fun. Summer went slow for Bolin and Chonglin, and their cousins were almost always pulling some sort of prank it seemed. "So, did you do anything fun lately?"

"Oi!" Forrest laughed, smacking the nearest twin on the shoulder. "I think you're thinking about yourselves. Little devils, you." Ahh, they were all troublemakers, there was no doubt.

"Ugh, I don't ever want to be as big of a nerd as this guy," Skye sighed, jabbing a finger towards Forrest. Although the truth was, they were syncing more and more, and complaining about studying was becoming more of a habit than an actual complaint.

And Forrest did have his days of not wanting to do anything more than break away from Hammel and ADVENTURE!

"I'm glad you think so," the blonde replied smugly, chomping into an apple. Forrest began spooning down yogurt. "Staying outta trouble? That's no fun!" Skye clucked, shaking his head.

"Yeah, you gotta get into some mischief every once in a while," Forrest added with a devilish glint in his eye.

"True that, though," Sky added, nodding towards Bolin. "You guys get into anything good, let us know pronto!"

At the question, the Chengs looked at each other and grinned. Widely.

"We put purple powdered Kool-Aid in a guy's shower head and ended up dying his hair purple."

"We got into some... Interesting things with that stunning Oriel boy," Skye added, giggling. "He, ah... Threw me into the pond. But we got him back!"

Chonglin narrowed his eyes at Skye. "We most definitely mean you two!" It was no use in arguing who was the worst of them. They were all a bunch of little schemers.

"Well, how else would the two of our procrastinating asses view studying?" He shook his head. Schooling was just something that didn't click in their slowly syncing brains. It was always a struggle for the two of them to sit around and actually do work they didn't care anything about. "We try. A little mischief every now and again is healthy after all. You'll be the first to know."

The two boys chuckled at the Kool-Aid in the shower head idea. They almost wished they thought of that first. "Did the color stay, or like, wash away later?" Lin was considering pulling it on their older siblings when they visit home sometime (Tengfei and Fei-yen in particular seeing how they were less likely to kill them afterwards).

"So what'd you do to deserve getting thrown into the pond?"

"I knew they were little devils..." Chonglin tsked and elbowed Skye. "So, do you have any free periods?"

"We could always collaborate and mess with people together." A couple of grins spread across their faces. They were done with their nice-guy streak, especially now that the Chengs were with them to goof off with.

"If you ever want any help with homework-" Forrest began to offer, sending a smirk towards his brother, obviously already knowing how he would react.

"UGH. Forrest can help, but I'd rather go do something fun." Truth was, whenever the darker-haired twin got deeply into his studying, Skye just got more studious by effect. That was how it was with the gestalts.

"But we're down for mischief too," Forrest added with a sly smile in Bolin's direction.

The Chengs started to finish their meal as the other two asked about their recent prank. Skye swallowed hastily and replied,"It stayed for as long as we were around. He wasn't too happy about it either..."

"But it was hilarious," Forrest snickered. "And we're sure it came off eventually. It's just powder, not hair dye." Or so they told themselves.

Skye sipped innocently at his drink at the question of being thrown into the pond. "Nothing! Well, we recorded him, and teased him a bit. He overreacted!" But it wasn't like they had minded the shenanigans at all. Oriel was stunning!

"Um, last period is free," Forrest chimed in. "And messing with people sounds like an excellent way to spend that time." Sure, he could study, but... Eh, they had time for that later! Both the Chengs had wide grins that matched the other twins as they stood and grabbed their trays. "So, wanna meet up later?"

"Um… Yeah, we'll be having fun with Skye, thanks."

"We're good with our bad study habits. We've made it this far, haven't we?"

Chonglin rolled his eyes at his brother with a grin on his face. "Pfft, what study habits?" The two of them had practically no work ethic. Especially when it came to school work. They'd do training for sports and their powers sure, but it was dull to work on paper. Math and science were their biggest problems, but English was still a bit of trouble. Speaking and hearing the language was just fine. But their spelling and grammar was awful, and the messy handwriting that belonged to Lin didn't help the teachers. So mischief over school any day.

"Okay, that is Koolaid is definitely going into the shower head at home!" The two couldn't help but laugh. Sharing ideas was always fun, and fun to pull. They'd just have to make sure one of the Fei twins were going to shower. Who knows though, maybe not all of the kool aid was used in a single shower? Bolin narrowed his eyes slightly at his cousin, Skye. "You two really are little devils. Recording someone then being thrown in a pond didn't even phase you…" He shook his head in mock disappointment.

"Did the water ruin your camera, or did it not get wet miraculously?" Lin hoped for both. They wanted it to get wet just as a little instant karma, but they also wanted to see the film. "Sweet, we have early release too!" Chonglin told the two before finishing up the sandwich.

Bolin was finishing up his own lunch as well. In between bites he spoke. "Wanna meet up in the courtyard? It's sorta cold out so less people will be there."

"Either that or one of our dorms? We really don't care as long as we get to some fun."

Forrest pouted good-naturedly at the twins' responses; he hadn't expected anything else, really. Skye just giggled and gave the nearest Zhou a high-five.

Maybe bad studying habits ran in the family. Well, except for the darker-haired twin. The boys' brother Chord was known for his misbehavior at school too. "Just don't come crying to me when you fail all of your classes," Forrest sighed dramatically. Like that would happen - all of them were super-intelligent together, even if they didn't act it. Even without trying, they often just naturally did better than their peers.

"Ack, make sure you get that recorded!" Skye cackled evilly at Bolin's words. "I wanna see it in action in another place." Forrest nodded energetically. They were more than happy to tell others about their pranks and encourage people to do them (as long as everyone was safe!).

"Dude, have you seen Oriel?" Forrest waved a hand in front of his face. "I would let that boy toss me in a volcano. He is fiiiiine." Slight exaggeration, but the point was made.

"Fortunately Oriel was kind enough that he let Forrest drop the camera before he tossed him in the pond," Skye giggled. "Very sweet of him." Getting tossed in the cold water was karma enough.

"Awesome!" Forrest exclaimed. "Hmmm... Dorms could be fun. Get more of an audience that way," he snickered. Ah, they lived to be in the spotlight. Sometimes literally - the theater was their home, too. "We'll see you there after class, then?"

Bolin returned the high-five with a giggle of his own. While they didn't really agree with Forrest, at least he had good intentions. Still, who would sit around doing homework when they could up and having the time of their life? "Fine, we'll come crying to Skye when we have to repeat years." Lin doubted that would happen. While persisting with work was a struggle, the two found tests were passed smoothly.

"Aye aye captain!" Record their siblings with green or some such hair they could do. Provided they didn't find out about it. Then the two would really be dead meat.

Chuckles came from the two. "A volcano?"

"I doubt that. You should've pretended to drown to get some mouth to mouth action if he is as fine as you say." Bolin and Chonglin had not met Oriel, but they could only imagine with the vague but amazing description they get from their cousins. The two nodded in agreement to the other pair with wide grins on their faces. "Dorms sounds good."

"Could ya bring the Oriel recording after classes?" Lin wanted to see this 'fiiiiine' boy for themselves, even if it was only on a screen.

Forrest smacked his forehead at the brilliant idea. "I should have! I wasn't thinking!" Ah, man, he could have gotten some Oriel right then and there! "Definitely doing that if it happens again." He nodded firmly. Heck, he'd probably go see if he could irritate Oriel into tossing him again now.

Skye just giggled and sighed. Between the two of them, Forrest was slightly more attracted to boys than he was, but that didn't mean he didn't want some mouth-to-mouth, too.

"Alright then!" he chirped, waving to the two boys. "We'll see you there later!"

"Yeah, we'll bring it, definitely!" Forrest added as they walked off. "Maybe we can nab the real thing to bring along too!" Ahhh, if only...

"Pfft, and you're the smart one out of all of us!" The two couldn't help but laugh at the fact that the two slackers thought of it before the brain of the group. Neither would suggest letting Oriel throw either Cheng into the pond again this time of year. The water was getting cold. It'd be a bitch for Gestalts to get a cold.

The two boys nodded before heading off in their own direction. "We'll see you there then!"

"The real thing? I look forward to that!"

"Good luck with that!" They called back happily. Then stepping together they went off towards their next class…. Math.
