Newcomer (Rain)

Eurgh. That's how Katy felt. That's how she felt every day before the pills turned her feelings to stone. The last thing Katy had wanted to do when she woke up that morning was anything at all, whether it be flying or drama, but her psychiatrist had said she needed to do more things she enjoyed. What he didn't understand was that she enjoy it, not when she was like this, and the medication just made her feel fake inside, like someone else was controlling her, that her emotions weren't genuine, it she even had any different emotions to her current one: eurgh. But here she was, outside the Auditorium. She was starting Drama club. Quickly opening one of the large double doors of the auditorium, Katy walked over to the stage. On it, a group of people were either sat or stood, just milling about l, doing there own thing, waiting for it to start. Katy sat on her own, her legs dangling over the side of the stage.

Rain walked into the auditorium, she was a bit late, well more than a bit. At least that’s what she thought, but everyone wasn’t there yet. So, she didn’t feel as bad, she still felt guilty for not coming on time. But, she had been worried about Ribbon, her pet bunny; he wasn’t eating, and wanted to make sure he started to. Which he did, and Rain was really glad about that. Her worries had dissolved, but now she was left with guilt, she wondered why when one negative emotion disappeared another replaced it. Why couldn’t life be filled with all the happy emotions? And none of the bad…

Anyways, Rain made her way up onto the stage. Everyone seemed to be in their own little groups, and she was still newish, and didn’t know very many people, especially no one she was close to. She looked at the girl who was sitting at the edge of the stage alone, and smiled a little. She walked over to her and sat down, “Eh hi! I’m Rain! Are you new to the drama club too?” She figured that was why she might be sitting alone, but maybe it was just her who was new…

Katy turned, slightly startled, at the owner of the voice she had just heard. It was a girl. A person. Another human being. Talking to her. Because it was just her luck that another girl would join at the same time as her, one who didn't know anyone else and would therefore sit and talk with her. If Katy had been in a better mood, she would've noted how the girl wasn't actually that bad to look at, or something like that. But she wasn't in a better mood.

But it would be rude of Katy to ignore the girl, who's name she now knew as Rain, so she gave a little smile (even though she was far from a smiley mood). Then, with about as much enthusiasm as a statue playing golf, she introduced herself.
"Hi... I'm Katy. And err, it's my first time aswell." She didn't add anything else, no questions about Rain's experience in theatre, or the fact that she had 10 siblings (always a good icebreaker). Mellow Katy really wasn't a conversationist.

If Rain knew that the girl didn’t want to talk to anyone, she wouldn’t have bothered her… It wasn’t like Rain to bother many people, unless they looked sad, she didn’t like seeing people sad. Those people always looked like droopy flowers, and she didn’t like that, it made her really sad. Flowers were suppose to be happy, and beautiful, so people were suppose to be happy, and were always beautiful.

Rain could tell something was wrong, and she really wasn’t sure what to do. “Are you okay? You look sad…” She smiled at the girl told her, her name, and said it was her first time. “We can be newbie buddies!” She was pretty sure there were other newbs, but people tended to join clubs with friends or because of friends. There was now an awkward silence, Rain looked at her hands, then smiled a bit. “I have some brownies! Do you want one?” She had made them herself, she always carried about treats for situations like this, sweets were a great icebreaker.

Katy just wanted the club to start. She didn't want to converse or even have someone else next to her if she didn't have to. Perhaps it would do her some good, being able to step into someone else's shoes for a while. It would probably be easier to fake emotions if she wasn't feeling any herself, so she might actually be better at acting like this than otherwise. But, if she didn't enjoy it, what was the point of doing it? You can be the best actor in the world, but if you don't enjoy it then there's no point of doing it. Sometimes Katy felt that way in the mornings, before the pills, about her life.

When Rain offered her a brownie, Katy just looked at it for a second. She really wasn't hungry. Then again, she hadn't eaten all day, so maybe it would be good for her. But then the same argument popped into her head and she shook her head slightly. Tucking her legs into her chest and hugging her knees into herself, Katy sighed. Hopefully the girl got the picture. "Please let you be Telepathic," she thought to herself. "'Cause if you are, you'd know to leave me alone."

Rain looked at the ground in front of her, as she swung her legs lightly. She was starting to slowly realize that this girl really didn’t want any company. Even if she was being extremely nice. Her smile turned into a frown as she fully realized the girl didn’t want to be friends. It was actually really easy to figure out, she wasn’t talking, she didn’t take a brownie, and she was hugging her knees to her chest. “Okay… I get the hint..” She zipped the bag back up and put the brownies back in her bag. Sighing, she got up and walked a few steps behind Katy.

Looking around she realized she was the only one without a friend… That made her feel so lonely, there was no one for her to hang out with, like everyone else, well except Katy but she apparently wanted to be alone. She looked at the ground, then back around the stage. Maybe she should just leave, the come back with a friend? That sounded like a good idea… She headed for the stage stairs, and toward the outside doors. Looking at the ground the whole time, she was sad that she didn’t get to make a friend, and that she didn’t feel comfortable staying. Maybe it was a good thing she was leaving; everyone might not want her there like Katy did.
