Anti-Halloween Gathering[Adaryn, Sebastian, OPEN]

Monroe wasn't big on social events, nor was he big on dances. He tripped over his own feet and how sleep deprived he was all the time, was sure to make things worse. He'd decided a long time ago that he wasn't attending the halloween dance at Hammel, but he HAD decided he was going to have a little fun of his own. He did like halloween after all, only he'd been way too overly tired and distracted with Seb's vision and Adaryn's dream to even go look for a costume, so he'd merely told anybody who asked what he was going to be, that he was going as a dreamwalker, which was lame (he had to admit) but really, Halloween was the one day it somehow seemed okay to have a power.

He'd invited a few people he knew--not too many people, because he was hoping that Adaryn and Sebastian would come and have a good time and that meant that there couldn't be a lot of people. He'd also sent Lucy an invite, figuring it was only polite, even though she surely had some sort of crazy plans. The student lounge was empty when he'd gotten there. He'd rented a ton of horror movies and bought several bags of candy that he'd put in bowls on the table in the center of the room. He'd also hung some orange and black streamers and had a halloween playlist on his iPod that was hooked up to some speakers. The Ghost Busters theme song was playing and he waited for his friends to show up, lounging on a couch and shoving a Twix bar in his mouth.

Halloween was probably the holiday that made her most nervous, because there was several opportunities to run into agitated little kids or even more agitated parents. But here at Hammel, it was a bit calmer, as most of the boys and girls were at the annual Halloween dance. Addie may have not liked Halloween too much because of the social aspect of the holiday, but there was something she loved dearly: The costumes. Of course, Adaryn wasn't the type of girl who wore slutty and skimpy outfits, but she loved being someone different every year. Last year she was a Faery (not the one with wings, though. Those looked idiotic), and this year? A Ravenclaw student.

It was as decent as she could get the outfit. Adaryn had the white button down, the blue and broze tie, jumper, skirt, and tights. The shoes she may or may not have borrowed from her roommate (Which she promised she would give back), and she wore her reading glasses. Instead of the emblem cloak, though, she was forced to wear her plain black cloak instead. To complete the ensemble, she held a book in her arms. Adaryn's hair cascaded down in her signature curls. Looking at herself her in the mirror, the first smile in weeks popped onto her lips. It was brief, but the expression was still there.

Monroe had invited her to a little 'get together' with him and he said a few other people. She didn't know how many people that would be, but for some reason, she found herself trusting that it wouldn't be too many people. He knew how she was in crowds, anyway.

He said it would be in the common room, so she headed down there, her eyes falling to her feet as she passed by a few people, her book clutched to her chest tightly. It was a relief when she finally arrived and nobody but Monroe was there. "Hey," She said. "I hope I'm not too overdressed for this. But I like dressing up."

The Halloween ball was something that Seb had firmly set himself against the moment he had heard about it. Never having been one for crowds, the thought of being crammed into the auditorium with so many other freaks was a terrifying thought. When he had tried to spend just a half-hour or so in there for the Talk that Dr Neville had held a few months ago it had gone disastrously, and even the few days away in the woods had done little to settle the blonde's nerves about being surrounded by other mutated students.

When Monroe had proposed having a little get-together away from the chaos of the main dance Sebastian had leapt on the idea. It would give him some time to spend with his friend as well as meaning that he didn't have to face another night of sitting alone in his dorm room. He knew that Monroe had invited a few other people but that was fine; he doubted there would be too many others and even if he did get a bit overwhelmed he knew that Monroe would understand if he had to leave early.

The thought of watching scary movies did unnerve him a little, but nothing too dramatic or terrifying had popped into any of his visions so he was hoping that all would go relatively well. What little money he had left after buying his necessary books had been spent on a few snacks and bottles of pop to take along to the meeting, even though he wouldn't be partaking of them himself, but he would have felt bad turning up empty handed. Arriving in the common room, Seb put the bag containing the treats down on the table and turned to the two already there. “Hello, I hope I am not running late. It took me a little while to find where the lemonade was in the store.”

Monroe was polishing his third mini Twix bar when he heard a voice. He looked towards the doorway. "Adaryn," he said, rolling off of the couch, his lips twitching into a smile. "I'm glad you came." He really was. It was nice to see her here. Her and Sebastian were both wary of the idea, but he'd wanted them to meet and have a little of their own fun without going to the school dance. "And you're not over dressed." She was dressed for Halloween, unlike himself. "I read the Harry Potter books in middle school," he pointed out with appreciation. "Although can't say we're housemates." He'd always imagined himself to be a Hufflepuff. The house was underrepresented and appreciated. He was honest and he preferred to avoid conflict and just let things happen as they would. He liked their attitude.

He smiled even further as he spotted a blonde in the doorway. "Seb, you didn't have to bring anything, you know," he told him. "And you're not late. We're just getting started."

His smile caught her a bit off guard, but she shoved down the shock. Adaryn really was a mixture of the two houses, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, but she had the blue and bronze tie, so it was Ravenclaw for the year. Currently, the normally crowded student lounge was entirely void of life aside from the two of them because of the Dance that was going on that night. Dances were not, in any means, her choice in school events. There were far too many people, and the expectation to dress nicely was too overwhelming. That, and the many emotions that raged throughout the tightly packed space made for a very emotionally unstable Addie. As if I need a lack of stability, Adaryn thought bitterly.

Woah, okay. There was no need to get bitter about things. "I actually only read it in the beginning of last year. I guess I was a bit late to the party." Adaryn admitted. To distract herself from her family issues, she dived into the world of Young Adult Fiction. Divergent, Harry Potter, the Luxen Novels... All of those stories were the reason she managed to get through that year alive.

A blonde entered the room, and she moved to the side to get out of his way. He was holding a bit of snacks, and she didn't need to bump into him and cause them to go everywhere. Adaryn regarded him with a curious glance, but she was mainly interested in the candy and drinks, as sad as that sounded. Addie hadn't eaten much since the day before at breakfast. A snack here or there, sure, but she hadn't really been hungry. Until now.

"I just got here, too." Adaryn spoke up, though her tone remained soft and uncertain. There wasn't anything that made Addie more awkward than meeting a new person, but she would get over that soon enough. It was only a matter of time. "I'm Adaryn, by the way." She introduced herself, though she made no move to shake him hand. Touching other's was something that did not make Adaryn comfortable, not even in the slightest. If someone tried hugging her, or attempted to poke her, she would shy away quicker than you could blink. Came with the package of knowing the young brunette. "And you are Seb... as in Sebastian?"

Oh god, she hoped she had gotten his name correct. If not, it'd be incredibly awkward.

The whole Halloween Dance thing wasn't really Dante's scene. He wasn't big on touching people. That is unless he was totally blazed. That chick Charlie had some potent hallucinogenic dust on those wings of hers, but he was still trying to figure out how to get her comfortable with the idea of letting him get high on purpose-- that first time was an accident, but damn was it a trip. Maybe a little too much, but if he could figure out what a reasonable dose was…

Anyway, Dante was looking for something to do, since turning in early didn't sound like a good time either. The nightmares were always extra hellish around holidays. Not just Halloween. Holidays in general. He hadn't bothered to get dressed up, not that he had the money for that even if he'd wanted to. His answer to the inevitable question was similar to Monroe's, but slightly funnier in his opinion since it was also a reference to The Adam's Family. "I'm a homicidal maniac. We look just like everyone else." Less original, sure, but you wouldn't know that if you didn't get the reference.. and if you did get it then it was a whole clasic-movie-nerd-thing (and frankly, Dante had more interesting things to think about than what to say when some dumb-ass asked what he was dressed as, when he clearly wasn't in costume).

Dante sipped at a half-empty mug of coffee as he poked his head into the student lounge. He smelled like cigarette smoke, and he was bundled up like he'd just come inside. Miraculously, he was in a pretty decent mood. Might have something to do with the couple of people who seem insistent on spending time with him lately. Or it might have something to do with unexpectedly tripping so hard on pixie dust that he momentarily left the time space continuum. Either way, he didn't open with his usual snark.

"Hey, there you are." Dante laid his eyes on Monroe and motioned to him with his coffee mug. "Uuh.. you're out of coffee," he said with a quiet chuckle. Dante was always using Monroe's things. The mug he was drinking from happened to be Monroe's as well.

Dante glanced at the other people in the room. He recognized them, but he couldn't say he knew their names. Quiet person A, and quiet person B. Now that he thought about it, Dante recalled overhearing something about an anti-halloween gathering or some shit... and either it was early, or this wasn't much of a gathering.

"Hey," he said, lifting his chin in a reverse-nod to both Sebastian and Adaryn. "Dante," he introduced himself, taking another sip of coffee instead of offering a handshake. "What're you doing?" He directed the question toward Monroe, sensing that the kids he'd gathered were the painfully shy type.
