Set back about 3 weeks

Ok, so the dude said he was going to be hanging out on...5th street?  Or 5th avenue?  Shiit, Adam couldn't remember, too many brain cells fried from the hangover this morning.  At least he had the next two days off work, that was a fucking bonus!  And hopes that they didn't try to call him in because some guy's grand-dad died for the ump-teenth time. Seriously, how many grand-dads did the guy have?

Adam trudged through the streets, deciding to check out the first one first before sucking it up and walking around to the other one.  He totally got paid today, which meant he could set aside a little for foods, a little for savings, and a little for his under-the-radar investments.  He only had a little bit left from his last dime bag(because his brother stole most of it), so he made a point to call up that contact of his and get himself another one.

He strolled down into the alley where he was certain he was supposed to meet the dude, and found him(he'd never met him before, and actually, it was usually a different dude every time, maybe this one was new?) leaning up against the wall.  Adam checked his hoodie to make sure it was covering his face adequately, and strolled up to the dude.  "Hey," he said in a low voice, making sure it didn't echo in the alley.  "So yeah, I'm needing me a burger and fries, but my kid sister was nagging at me for another, so I'm gonna need two orders, no garnish. Hook me up?"

It had actually been a while (and by a while, maybe several days) since Phoenix had simply took a huge hit and wandered around town to try to escape from reality, like he used to do constantly. Oriel was doing a damn good job of keeping him occupied most of the time, but today the stress from life had just become too much and he needed to get out and get high.

Unfortunately, no matter how much dust he took in, he wasn't getting as much out of it as he used to, and it made him panic. He seriously needed to find some other way to get out of reality... He just wasn't sure how. He didn't have connections here like he did in Seattle; and that was terrifying.

And so he had tripped his way to this alley, where he was struggling to let himself fall fully into his hallucinations when he knew just how fucked up he was going to be if they stopped coming completely. He wasn't expecting company, so when he heard the crunch of shoes coming towards him, he shot a wide-eyed, panicked look at the guy, having no idea what he wanted or what he might do. Was he going to get mugged? Shit, why did he come here in the first place....

But then he spoke. Phen blinked. Then opened his mouth, closed it, and blinked again. He hadn't heard code like that in... Years. Not since he moved to Pilot Ridge, at least. Guy obviously thought he was someone he wasn't. "I ain't-" he began, but realized with a jolt - this is exactly what he needed. Someone with connections! "Y'got the wrong guy," he slurred, not moving from where he was leaning against the wall. "I only take, I don't sell."

Ok, what the fucking hell? The looking at this guy, this asian whatits, Adam could tell right away he was already trippin'. His eyes were glazed and kind of wild looking, and he seemed like his attention wasn't all there. What the fuck kind of businessman consumed their own product, 'specially when they were looking to sell it in a deal that very instant. Adam was about to rant about bad business when the other dude spoke up.

Guess it was 5th Avenue after all. Shiiit.

Now that was fucking embarrassing as fuck. Adam shook his head. "Right, sorry, man," he started with a raise of his hands, preparing to back away. But then he stopped to think that maybe he did have the right place and this guy was just another customer. "What you waiting for the Candyman too?"

But something else interested him. Whatever this guy was on, didn't sound like your typical low grade weed(which is pretty much the stuff that Adam got stuck with). "What you on anyhows? The pipe?"

Phoenix shrugged at the apology, though internally his heart was racing, and he yearned to think of something to say that would alert the guy to his needs without seeming pathetic. Fortunately, the blonde beat him to it, and he let out a small huff of a laugh. "Nah, just happened to be at the right place at the right time, apparently," he grinned lazily, watching a drop of neon blue liquid fall from a nearby window and land with a splatter on the ground.

Before he could ask for more details, the guy seemed to study him more and spoke again, and Phen looked away, rubbing at his eyes; the dark circles were back, despite the fact he was getting pretty good sleep at night with Oriel's warmth to keep him comfortable. "Y'ain't an anti-meta dick, are ya?" he asked, deciding he might as well be honest. "'Cause I got my own stash, all the time. Can create hallucinogenic dust whenever I want." That was a slight lie - it was limited, after all - but close enough. And there was no need to mention the wings. He swallowed, eyeing Adam again. "Though, I've been, ah... Looking... For some other things t'try," he added carefully. "So... How's about you tell me more about Mr. Candyman, eh?"

The right place at the right time. Well, apparently while he was on his way shopping, he managed to snag his provider yet another customer. Adam wasn't sure how he felt about bringing the guy more business with for his fucked up enterprise but fuck whatever. It was this dudes life, if he wanted to fuck himself up, his choice.

But maybe Adam was a bit too hasty in his assumptions, because this tripping dude started off with this whole meta shit talk and announced that he had his own stash. And a might fine kind of stash it was. "Well, shiiit. If you got your own kinda stuff, what you looking for other shit for?" Adam held up his hand. "Never mind, none of my business."

Adam glanced over his shoulder at the sound of some late night pedestrians passing through. He didn't speak again until they had passed. "Now," Adam started his negotiation voice, "I might be convinced to give you my contact. Shit, I might even be tempted to let you follow me this time so you can talk to my guy yourself. But! I'm totally interested in giving that dust 'o yours a go." Adam shrugged. "But, you know, it's no biggie if it ain't kosher. I'm cool for other arrangements and agreements, too." Not a lot, but they were there. He looked up at the taller asian man. "What say you?"

Phoenix decided he liked this guy. He was curious, but not too curious, and seemed to know when he crossed boundaries. A lazy, less nervous grin tugged at the corner of his mouth, despite the fact that while he was trying to get over his dust and let Oriel replace his needs... He really, really needed some other release still. Maybe it was just a neurological need, but he told himself that he couldn't live without it. "Yeah, I got my reasons," he replied with a huff, realizing he was putting on more of an act of being apathetic than he would have a couple months ago. He jerked his head as a bolt of greenish sparks flew past him. "It ain't important." Yes, yes it was.

He, too, paused as he heard people, ready to bolt if needed, but glad that he didn't have to when he was so close to potentially getting onto some good stuff. And then the guy was offering a deal, one which Phen would have denied outright to anyone that had never experienced a hallucinogen before. But, considering this guy seemed to know his stuff, Phen decided... He could break a few rules. Especially considering what was in it for him.

Phoenix tapped his lip as if considering. "It's pretty intense shit," he warned, already beginning to shrug off his jacket. "An'... Well, y'better not fuckin' laugh, or else I'm not givin' you anything." He glanced warily at the entrance to the alley, pulling back a bit further into the shadows. "The dust comes with stupid fairy wings," he explained in a low grumble. "An' I can't get it without lettin' 'em out. So... Don't freak, okay?" He waited to see how the blonde would react before he went to take off his shirt. Assuming it was alright, he stripped it off to reveal the dark, inky lines tracing his back.

Adam didn't have to put on an act, he legit didn't care what other people chose to do with their time or how they fucked up their own lives. Besides, Adam had more important things to think about. Like how he was going to move out of his Ma's house and still afford internet enough to play Halo everyday. He wasn't that desperate though, like he wasn't about to go out and actually sell drugs instead of just buying them. Nope, Adam preferred to be a consumer, even if he though consumerism was a totally ripped off ideal, all it did was subject the lesser population to the controls of the greater, the monopolies, the enterprises and corporate empires. They ruled the world and it was for that that Adam engaged in these small little back-alley transactions, to stick it to the man and say "I ain't buying your kinky Wal-Mart shit!".

"Shit, I can handle it, no problem!" Adam was an experienced pot-head, there was nothing he couldn't handle, or so he liked to believe.

However, Adam was a bit taken aback when the dude started removing his jacket, though it was quickly explained after. "Well, shit. Is nothing." Though Adam had to admit he was glad he told him. If Phoenix had just started to strip without explaining much, Adam might have been much more taken aback and assumed that the guy wanted more than just a simple "repayment" to which Adam was reputed to giving a very clear and stern "No" to.

Though seeing the patterns on his back, like a full-back tattoo, had Adam smiling. "Shit, that's fucking wicked. Sure that isn't just a tat?" He leaned in slightly to get a better look. "So how's this shit gonna work? Need me to get out a little baggie for the collectings?"

Phoenix rose a brow at Adam's immediate response, shrugging his shoulders. If the blonde was that adamant, well, who was he to say what he couldn't handle? "Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you," he replied, his final words on the matter.

He didn't like the fact that he had to strip like this, especially in an alley with a stranger, but if nothing else, he could fly away if things got too weird. He shivered as his skin met the cool air, his thin, bony form pale and slender against the dark walls surrounding them. If he had known Adam's aversion to 'those' sorts of transactions, he would have laughed aloud. Lord knew how many times he had done and had that done for payment in Seattle...

Adam's response to the tattoo surprised him though; Phen had expected him to laugh despite his words. "Nope, it came with the ability," he replied almost lightly, glad that someone actually seemed to think they were cool. "Just wait." He didn't answer Adam's question yet, and instead focused on letting the webbed appendages out. As pain laced his back like a hot razor, he bit back a grunt as the lines of dark pigment rose from his skin, slowly spreading up and out to become fully-fledged, dragonfly-like wings. He gave them a small flutter, panting from effort.

"Sorry, but... It's more of just a cloud you're gonna have t'breathe in an' get as much as you can," Phoenix told him when he caught his breath. "You might be able t'catch a bit, though. I'll let you decide if you want t'try." Assuming Adam was ready, Phen closed his eyes and focused on the base of his wings, giving them a few slow flutters before his spine twitched and the pink dust poured out, quickly clouding into the air. He managed to get a small breath of the stuff himself, trying to keep the cloud dense enough so Adam could maybe collect some of the spores if he wanted to. This is so weird... What am I doing?
