Did Lucy feel bad about her encounter with the pink-haired chick from Kocher?

She unfortunate answer was no, no she did not.

It, if nothing else, put things into perspective for her. Or just confused her further. Why was Evony so persistent in having them meet in the first place? It wasn't as if Lucy was jumping to have the girl meet her friends - she'd already met them anyway. Well, except for Rowan. Lucy neglected to mention the boy to her counterpart on purpose. Rowan to Lucy was a level above the likes of Sawyer and the rest. He kept her secrets. Though even he knew nothing about Evony. He would. In time. When she knew it was worth mentioning.

At any rate, what had flagged in the Australian's system was the way in which Evony was much more distant - which was strange, considering Lucy usually had to ask her for such distance from time to time. At first she thought maybe it was because the blue haired wonder was finally catching on. But that was too simple; too simple when dealing with the likes of Evony.

On that particular night, the cabin was empty - save for the presence of the blue haired one. That was where Lucy found her, anyway. "You hiding from me?"

It wasn't often that Evony got annoyed, such occurrences usually making the rare emotion all the more bitter when it did sprout. But dhe was annoyed, and it was a bitter feeling. Alongside the unfortunate irritation was the hollow and highly frustrating feeling of dissapointment, something which was birthed from herself and the actions of a particular Australian.

The day before had been a train wreck, a messy and cringeworthy failure that left the thief with a bad taste in her mouth and the sudden urge to scamper off into the woods and never return. The sheer embarrassment she felt for Kimmy bubbled over during the hours afterwards. Her feeble attempts at saving the situation were whittled down to nothing, especially since Lucy seemed so adamant and unsavoury about the whole thing.

Couldn't she at least pretend?

Evony knew that was a big ask and not worth mentioning but her frustration at the recent failure actually lifted the scales from her eyes. The Blue Bird still adored the tattooed beauty, there was no questioning that, but this venomous streak which had slowly accumulated over the past months had finally reached the point of revelation. Lucy simply wasn't the nicest person and no matter how badly Evony wanted to refute the claim it was simply reinforced by memories gone by with other people. Jace, Kimmy and probably a whole lot more if she actually paid proper attention to anyone other than the Australian.

So, in a quick bid effort to contemplate and mull over everything, Evony chose to take a step back...as terrible as that was for her. The isolation within the cabin was jarring and not entirely comforting but it gave the thief some time to reflect, on Lucy's mistakes and her own, of which there were plenty.

The porcelain skinned girl was giving herself a pedicure atop her bunk when Lucy had arrived, as beautiful as ever. Evony may have given the girl a hug if she wasn't so conflicted, maybe even a quick peck just for the sake of it all. But no, there was nothing more than the brittle smile and a weak shrug of dainty shoulders.

"Nope." She chirped dryly, almost defensively, furrowing her brow as she continued the beautification of her toes. "Why would I possibly be doing that? I'd be a doing a shit job if you found me this easily anyway..." The girl mumbled, scraping the tongue piercing against the roof of her mouth as she kept her eyes on the nail polish.

Lucy was a complex individual - a fact that people took their time to understand, if they tried to at all. The various people in her life held particles of her personality, either opting to ignore or embrace the sides of her deemed unacceptable. More often than not, the eldest Serrano embraced those who cherished her mean streak - though she'd hardly call it that if asked. Mean, as it stood, was intentional.

Was it intentional when it came to Lucy?

Swinging the door closed behind her, she walked through the thick emotional air and into the cabin, resting her arms against the side of her own bunk and staring across it idly. No eye contact necessary, she figured. It was obvious when people were mad at her. Or annoyed at her.

"You like to be found." She rebuffed simply, no added stress or potent poison to her words. "Or chased. Whatever." Lucy turned around, glancing have over her shoulder at the other girl; "You like it."

In all honesty, Evy wasn't entirely sure how to approach the situation. Yes, she was annoyed. Yes, at herself as well and she vehemently attempted to dull the lurking guilt in the pits of her heart. But this peculiar sensation, frustration, was unfamiliar and not something she enjoyed. Life was an adventure, one buried piece of treasure to another and the challenges along the way were gladly accepted for the promise of glory, riches and whatever else tickled the girl's metaphorical pickle. But now she was just out on a whim, one which had brought more bewilderment than she hoped.

The Blue Bird flinched slightly at the slammed door, biting her tongue as the tattooed beauty entered. How ironic, was this how it felt to have someone barge in on you? Strange.

Although she forced herself to focus on her feet her eyes did flicker near Lucy's body, albeit briefly. Dark brown hair, shifting tattoos and the weak scent of lemon and coffee. This was still Lucy, still the girl Evy cuddled up to during the dead of night and pestered for attention...but why did that all seem so incomplete, like half, no a quarter, of a puzzle was all she had been provided.

A shallow sigh passed over the girl's peachy lips at Lucy's rebuttal. Fuck the fact that she was so transparent to this girl. It was true though, annoyingly so and the thief had to make do with the stifled grin that crept across her lips. "...and what of it?" She mumbled, annoyed at her apparent predictability. But one thing was wrong. That night she didn't want to be found, or chased. Tonight was a night to work out all the shit that was plaguing her consciousness...Lucy's arrival simply making it all the more unbearable.

"So you're here to ask why I want to be found?" She asked cooly, clenching her teeth at how unnecessary the entirety of this was. Evony wished that was just that, another silly conversation which would turn into playful banter and the occasional 'shut up' and 'make me's'.

But wishful thinking never worked quite so well.

Shifting, Lucy opted to sit on the unowned bed underneath her own. Given the trio's rather adventurous first day, it was vacant. People had been moved to other cabins for risk of being shot in the head. And even if it hadn't have been the case, how many people would willingly share a sleeping quarters with Lucy, Sawyer and Lyra? The list was a dwindling few.

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she opted not to bother with a response. Because it was strange; a new type of Evony she had never been faced with before. It rarely proved difficult to get the blue haired wonders attention when she wanted it. To have it lacking so suddenly was a change she wasn't ready for. Not after everything she'd gone through to say what she had tried to say.

Leaning forward slightly, her fingers ran the line of her more tattooed arm as if the skin carried an itch. Or an ache.

"Okay, fine. If you're going to piss around the subject I'm just gonna ask you," Lucy started. Being coy, shy and suggestive wasn't her forte, after all, "What's your problem?"

Huddled against the top corner, with her knees tightly pressed against her chest and the cool nighttime breeze bathing her in a chilly embrace Evony sat motionless, except for the dainty fingers that deftly rushed over the toes. The Blue Bird was irked at herself, at Lucy and the entire premise that all this tense awkwardness was hinged on.

Hadn't they cemented whatever this was in the woods not too long ago? The memory itself burning deep in the recesses of Evy's mind and simply recounting the wondrous sensations together made the girl feel all the more guilty.

Was there any point being annoyed at Lucy?

The inner escapist begged the thief to forget all about yesterday's mistakes and just wallow in the promises of their hidden affection. But the swindler had some shred of honour, no matter how questionable she was at times. Her duty as a watchful friend to Kimmy was one such priority and having Lucy be so shamelessly abrasive with the girl was less than acceptable.

You're not innocent either...

A familiar voice would whisper, only concentrating the girl's torment. This frustration should've been justified, but it was backed up with little more than hypocrisy.

Lucy's question shouldn't of come as a surprise, she wasn't the sort to sugarcoat words but the merely pressing the subject only furthered the Blue Bird's irritation. She didn't want to argue or do anything of the sort. But something had to be said.

"I'm just annoyed that's all." She mumbled in a hushed voice, afraid that speaking any louder would burst the brittle calm she attempted to keep hold of. "Yesterday was a mistake -" Evony paused, biting her tongue. "-You were just so...so rude to Kimmy." And not normal rude, cringeworthy rude. Evony wasn't the sort to call people out on that stuff, but for it to be so blatantly thrown around like Lucy does warranted some form of complaint.

Lucy was a little glad she couldn't really see Evony at that point. Her low vantage point would make a conversation more awkward for most, but for her it was something of a card worth keeping. It meant there was no forced eye contact. No contact at all, really. And that kept a potential altercation clean - cold and even distant in the comparison of things.

Silently, she nodded to herself when Evony admitted she was annoyed. That was obvious, but that didn't need to be said.

Another nod, because yes, yesterday was a mistake.

But the Australian found herself a little... Thrown. She'd been called rude before. She knew when she was being rude. Idly, Lucy ran her hand along her jaw slowly. Silence was a definite killer in her case. It usually meant her mind was reeling; thoughts calculating in a way she never described.

"So?" She offered the single word, but it wasn't dressed in a sense of confusion. It was a half thought; a blatantly off-handed word.

It took several hours after yesterday's debacle to calm and reassure Kimmy that ze was in no way the target of Lucy's jabs. Evy's desperate attempts at consoling her exceptionally fragile friend seemingly making it much more worse. One couldn't lie to an empath or even hide their frustration and disappointment so the verbal antidote did little. It was a horrible notion but Evy wondered how well things would have gotten if Kimmy never came to Hammel, maybe there wouldn't be so many secrets and guilt...but that was cruel and really shitty to think about.

The girl's teeth were firmly clench onto her lower lip, the sharp sting keeping her from focusing too much on the irritating throb in her skull. Why was Lucy here? Didn't she have people to shoot or kids to bully?

Even though she was safely perched up high in her nest the acrobat did not feel powerful, did not feel secure and certainly didn't feel at ease with the situation.

But once Lucy opened her mouth, any notion of remaining poise was out of the question.

"So? So? What the actual fuck is wrong with you?!" Evy shot back, seething rather than screaming. Her outburst was so sudden that the nail polish knocked over and fell on her sheets, the rich red spilling like a burst vein. Just another reason to get angry. "Fuck!" She growled, tossing her blanket away from her and finally setting her gaze onto the Australian. "Do you actually think before you speak? Are you really that socially inept to not know how to behave like a normal person? Yesterday I hoped you would at least show some courtesy..." she uttered, shaking her head. A look of disappointment washing over the annoyance.

The girl sucked in a deep breath, feeling her skin go pale from the frustration that scuttled beneath her skin.

"Why are you such a douchebag?" Evy spat, clenching her fists and glaring at the spoilt nail polish all over her blankets. This really couldn't get much worse.

Lucy could expect many things, both from herself and from her counterparts. She could read a situation like the best of them, and she could leave things where they stood when she was done with them. What the Australian often failed to calculate was the opinions of others within that mix. That something she might have done or said still resonated in another individual. This was a girl she liked - one she could admit to herself that she actually seemed to care for. But she was spouting venom at the previously vulnerable girl for what, something she said? Something that had obviously already left her mind?

Another individual would have apologised, saying that they didn't mean what they did or said. But regret was a shadow that hung low overhead, and Lucy had no interest in holding something like that over herself for no reason.

"I don't care about your friends." Lucy said, standing up. "Or... Friend." Her voice carried a hint of something - humour, maybe? Darkened by the twist in the conversation.

She moved stood on the lower bed underneath Evony - because it didn't matter who the bed belonged to - and brought herself as close as she could without actually climbing up. Her eyes were narrow, darkness clouding with some kind of emotional mix. But what was certain is that all stints of curiosity and humour were effectively gone.

"You wanna talk about being socially inept?" She asked, raising her eyebrows at the thought; "Go on. Since you're handing out lectures, enlighten me on how the normal behave."

Removing her legs off the blanket and slinging her lower half over the side of the bunk Evony could not help but cringe at the combined mess of this all. She was bracing herself for whatever was to come, knowing full well how heated their last argument was. Deep down the girl didn't want to fight, she just wanted to forget about it all and drown in Lucy's presence. But the twisted sense of honour she had for Kimmy and herself demanded she confront whatever poison was plaguing this coupling.

"I don't care about your friends"

The statement alone stung more than the thief thought it would've and she couldn't help the brief look of discomfort from the statement. Her friends shaped who she was, they were her family and to have Lucy, the girl she adored, disregard them completely birthed a deep conflict in the pit of her stomach.

As a result, the Blue Bird instinctively found herself flinch when Lucy came over, mentally suffocating between the wall and the Australian. There wasn't much use scampering away, not this time anyways. She was going to have to the girl to ever get some sense into her.

With a fleeting gaze Evy glanced back at Lucy, studying the deep pools of molten brown and feeling the tempest swell within her core.

"...They don't act like dicks with complete strangers." She managed to blurt out, angrily turning away to gaze at her ruined pedicure. "Lucy, I actually thought you'd at least play nice, give a hello and you know what? I'd be happy with that. But I don't know, I guess I was wrong to think that...because yesterday was a major clusterfuck." The girl sighed bitterly, turning away from the brown eyes beauty and staring into the pitch black of night.

"Was there something wrong with Kimmy? Does me having friends not sit well with you?" The blue haired girl asked quietly(desperately), attempting to regain some semblance of control.

Making people uncomfortable wasn't strange for Lucy. It was something of a frequent occurrence, and the signs were always the same. The conversation was already heated, and that would likely be disheartening for most. But Lucy was who she always was; an argument kicked her into another gear.

She scoffed when Evony actually offered a response. There was so much she could have said. So many ways she could have responded and bit back. But... The lack of eye contact was oddly jarring for the Australian.

"I don't play nice." She shot back, highly offended by the simple statement. It packed a real punch, to be asked to be different. To play someone else. To be something she didn't want to be. Lucy fell back to the floor with the hint of a jump, stretching her arms back. No eye contact? Fine, then she wouldn't bother with the effort it took to get closer. "I don't care if you have friends. Jesus, that's not my problem."

She rolled her shoulders back, feeling tension weigh heavily in her head and on her mind. It was distracting; "Fuck it, no. I don't even have a problem. You have a problem because, what - I wasn't best friends with your old friend? Why does it even matter?"

Thinking back to their little adventure in the woods a few nights ago immediately ushered in a sick feeling deep in Evy's gut. It not only cemented what both girls felt for one another but it was a simply amazing experience. Now...well now their short lived honeymoon period was over and the porcelain skinned thief was back to the cold glare of reality. Couldn't she at least make one thing work?

The girl was at a loss for words when Lucy struck back, digging her fingernails into the palms of her hands as she felt the icy cold vitriol spout off the Australian's lips. The lips that were so soft, sweet and lovely now curled into an angry snarl.

"Then what do you care about?!" Evy managed with a sharp bite, bringing her hands down in frustration. This wasn't going anywhere but she couldn't allow herself the luxury of avoiding the confrontation after all they had been through already. And one thing was for sure, she was going to try her fucking hardest to avoid crying.

"I have the problem?! Look, I'm trying my best to make whatever the fuck this is to work! How can this succeed if you don't even bother showing some courtesy to my friends. I still want them around and with you...pissing on every person you see that's not going to be easy!" The girl uttered, shaking her head at how stupid she sounded, Lucy was probably going to rebut that as well. "All this matters because I like you! What do I do with someone whose always so...so mean?!" She whispered in disbelief, as if saying it out loud made it even worse.

"I know you aren't a cruel person but yesterday...I just don't know what to say about that! I'm angry, disappointed and fucking annoyed." The acrobat growled at Lucy - or herself - flashing her gaze at the girl in question.

Lucy traced the line of her lower lip with her fingers when posed with the difficult question; her jaw slackened as if she were physically hit in the mouth. What did she care about?

She glanced back up.

Her eyes darkened, her mind racing as things - at least how she saw them - started falling into place. The rapid descent of information was enough to make her head spin. It was more than just confusing. This made no sense, and yet somehow it did. And that was the most juxtaposing thing of all. "Fuck your courtesy." She muttered, more to herself than anything else.

"Oh, fuck this." She scoffed, resisting the urge to laugh at the stupidity of the conversation she was stuck in. "This isn't new information, so don't act like it is! Though you apparently don't give a shit about how I talk to someone unless they actually like you." Immediately she felt herself recall a significant conversation - she had told this girl exactly what she was, and how she was.

"I mean, what do you want from me?" Lucy asked. Feeling her voice rise, she took a moment to try and counter that. But frustration was quick to settle in and take hold of her tone; "Like I haven't given you enough already!"

Soon enough Eviny's skinny porcelain arms were wrapped around her body, hugging herself tightly and halting any possibility of hurting herself. She did have a bad habit of swinging her arms around when annoyed. The acrobat felt horribly out of place and her need for 'justice' really conflicted with the nagging desire to just shut up and cuddle with Lucy.

But she had gone too far to even consider that a possibility.

The Blue bird felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up at the sound of the Australian's snarling voice, a frosty shiver creeping down the length of her spine.

Evony remembered most of every conversation she had with Lucy, from the smallest chats before sleeping to the more amusing daytime banter, so of course she remembered the significant dialogue given to her by Lucy. She was to have the girl as she was, and not attempt to change that. It didn't seem like a problem in the beginning, nothing worth second guessing but now...well now it made sense why Lucy said it.

"I just never properly noticed until Jace! That just...how come you're not like that with me?! Do new people intimidate you or something?" She shot back, staring at the girl for a silent answer, anything to prove that this conversation could still be saved. "It doesn't matter if they like me! The principle of the matter is that they have feelings too! Maybe you don't get it, but not everyone can handle that sort of shit!" The girl argued, feeling the short, sharp breaths begin to escalate. Her mouth felt dry and her hands were shaking with rage...or was it anxiety? She couldn't tell at that moment.

When asked if Lucy hadn't given enough already Evony felt herself reel back, a bit taken back with the jab. She had to scramble over the mess of emotions churning within her to give a proper reply. "I just....I just want us to be happy..." She whispered, afraid that saying it too loud would only cause more drama. It was a quiet truth, but truth nonetheless. It felt strange having to lower her voice after the impassioned rant, especially about something so dear to her heart.

"Lucy...it's just, so frustrating with you sometimes!" The girl conceded, clenching her jaw and furrowing her brow as she stared long and hard at her feet.

"Fuck new people, and fuck intimidation. It's not about that." Lucy spat back, confused as to where she was going with a comment like that. How could she possibly find new people intimidating?

Rolling her eyes, Lucy settled into the space she was sitting and stared intently at the floor. Any point that wasn't near her. "And why would I want to be around people like that?" Rhetorically, she asked. The dip in her tone made it evident that she didn't want an answer. It didn't need an answer - it was a fact. The eldest Serrano had absolutely no interest in spending her time with people who couldn't handle her. It was why she'd offered the blue haired wonder a warning. A warning she'd taken no notice of, it seemed. Else this wouldn't have even been happening.

Perhaps none of it should have happened; "I'm not happy." She said, though her voice was so quiet she doubted it traveled far. Happiness felt like a fabled myth, reserved for those who didn't exist.

"Oh, I'm frustrating?" Dropping her voice down low, she turned her attention away as she felt bitter words swirl behind her lips; "It's not like I punched her or anything."
