Biting Off More Than You Can Chew...(Oriel)[Trigger Warning]

Kodi had been unsuccessful at hunting down his prey at first.  He had looked for Phoenix after Oriel had made an idiot out of him by playing with his prey and getting a rise out of him before cackling and leaving him furious and embarrassed.  He knew he had to get back at the other boy somehow, and considering how often the scrawny Korean kid was around the other predator and how he had shot daggered looks at him when he and Oriel had been paired up for chemistry, he knew there was something there.  How much, he didn't know, but it was something to work with.

It wasn't until a detention session outside a few days later that he finally got the opportunity he wanted.  Oriel and Phen had apparently done something that earned them some outside labor, and Kodi watched them both with hungry eyes, waiting for his moment to strike.  He needed to get Phen alone, at least for a moment, in order to stake his claim before Oriel could get his pet safely away.

Poor Phoenix was completely unaware of the tension, keeping close to his lover and not meeting Kodi's dark, cold stare.  He felt like something was off, but he was too heartbroken still about the loss of his beloved Boo to really care about anything else.  The kitten had found a good home, and Phen was allowed to go see him, but it still made him sad and hurt that he couldn't keep him himself.

When their time was up, Phen drifted to put the tools he had been using away, leaving Oriel's side for a couple of moments.  Seeing his chance, Kodi darted stealthily after him and waited until they were out of sight of the others before making his move.

He pounced on the unsuspecting prey, grasping him by his scrawny throat and pinning him against the side of the tool shed.  Phen, terrified, scrabbled desperately at the surface, lips parted in terror as he fought for breath.  What the hell was this about!?

"Nothin' against ya, but yer... Friend has been givin' me a bit'a trouble lately," Kodi spoke in a low growl, not loosening his choking grip the slightest.  "An' well, I figure, if he thinks he can mess with my toys, I can mess with his."  Without another word, his canines extended and he bit sharply into Phoenix's shoulder, piercing the skin twice and eliciting a breathless, pained screech from the poor boy.

Oriel expected this, you do something against the rules you get punished for it no matter how unjustified you thought it was. Oriel was more than used to getting punished with detention for a number of things - fighting, harassing people, invading "autonomy" as Dr. Neville so kindly put it - but this was probably the first time since he was a child that he'd gotten punished for something so...innocent was the word that came to mind. Without the intent to victimize some unsuspecting sap. And in the end, Phoenix had been the one most hurt by it...which in turn made Oriel feel like shit for letting it happen. Because he knew this would happen. He wasn't stupid. Not to say that Phoenix was, but....Phoenix was just so...impulsive? Transparent? Oriel couldn't use the word "innocent" because he was far from but...

There was just nothing to do but accept the consequences gracefully and be content with knowing that little Boo was with a good family and they were allowed to visit when they could. At least Dr. Neville was kind in that respect.

Didn't mean that Oriel was happy about any of this, as he grumbled through the garden-work that he and Phen(and some others) had been sentenced to. It wasn't hard, just irritating, and took up time that he'd rather be spending doing other things(like Phen) or napping. Adding to his irritation was the knot in his stomach over the encounter he'd had with Kodi and Benny the other day. Really, he hadn't meant for things to go that far. How amusing was it that the whole time Oriel thought he was in full control of the situation? There really was something about Kodi that rubbed him the wrong way. It'd be best if they just stayed away from each other, he decided.

As they finished up, Phoenix offered to put the tools away to give Oriel a break, catching the boy off-guard. That'd been happening to Oriel a lot this week, acting so out of sorts and not like himself. There was so much on his mind lately that he couldn't really help it. So it was no surprise that Oriel didn't even consider that something might happen to Phoenix the one time he let him off by himself.

Oriel's head snapped hard enough to give him whiplash the second he heard the scream. He was already running at top speed by the time his brain caught up with and figured out why he was running in the first place, and the panic finally set in.

That was definitely Phoenix's scream, he'd heard it enough to recognize it anywhere. He didn't care about the who or whys or what, all he care about was getting to his lover as fast as possible.

Oriel barely had time to take in the scene after rounding the corner, because he not only acted instantly, but he didn't even bother to slow down to assess the situation before rampaging forward and planting one very heavy fisted blow to the face whose lips were still very much attached to his lover's. Without even taking a moment to check on Phoenix, Oriel continued to grab the offender by his collar and throw him to the ground, taking no time to jump on him and continue his barrage.

It was only then, for a fraction of a second, did Oriel even realize who he was pummeling.

Phen had no idea what had spurred this painful, dangerous attack. All he knew was that he couldn't breathe, his shoulder burned, and there was a tongue inside his mouth, uncaring of his pain and shock of its victim and barreling through with Oriel's 'punishment'. Kodi ignored the sputtering limbs, the scrabbling of Phoenix's hands against him as he tried in vain to push him away. It was no use - even though Phen was healthier than he had been in a while, he was still painfully weak.

Kodi was gloating in his victory as he tormented the poor boy, wondering how long it would be before Oriel came and broke them apart.

He hadn't expected it to be so soon. Or quite so harsh.

Before he knew what was happening, a sudden force crashed into the side of his face, ripping him away from his prey and making him stumble several feet back. Gasping as stars crossed his vision, he had no time to react before Oriel threw him to the ground, continuing to pummel him with strong, bruising hits. He managed to throw his arms up and block a few of them, but even his strength was no match for the raw fury that was pushing Oriel's attack forward.

Shit. How much did that pathetic twig mean to this guy?

Kodi managed to land a few hits of his own, mostly small, short punches against Oriel's abdomen, but even he knew when he was outmatched. In desperation, he willed his ability forward and thrust it at Oriel, hoping to seal his teeth shut to at least slow him down or startle him. Though with the attack he was currently under, he couldn't be sure if he would be successful or not.

Phen was just sitting, gasping against the tool shed, rubbing his throat and watching with wide-eyed horror at the fight before him.

Oriel made no effort to slow down once his thoughts finally caught up to what was happening, because if Oriel had the situation right, Kodi had dared to lay a hand on his Phoenix, to injure him even, and that just made Oriel burn even more with fury as he continued to throttle forward with his attacks.

His rage-filled eyes were kept only on his target as he beat down on it strike after strike, his expression twisted into one of sheer disgust of that cocky face that had dared to infringe and damage Oriel's property…..no Phen wasn't just his property. But whatever he was, Kodi had definitely gone too far!

Oriel barely felt the counter-strikes that Kodi belted onto his abdomen, though he'd probably feel them later when he wasn't so pumped full of adrenaline.

It occurred to Oriel that Kodi might use his power to fight back….but he hadn't know what it was Kodi's power to be.

There was a grinding, some sort of nauseating tickling in his jaw as Kodi reached out with his power. Then suddenly pain. That kind of dull, aching pain when the dentist drills right into a cavity. Only he wasn't using novocaine. And it was all his teeth at once.

Oriel snapped back at the sudden pain, grabbing his jaw with wide eyes as he tried to fathom what was happening. He tried to open his mouth to scream, but his jaw wouldn't move. As he ran his tongue against the back of his teeth, he could feel the enamel molding and fusing together. It was terrifying. And in his heightened state of rage, it would only serve to make the boy lash out even more.

Kodi grit his teeth (which had all sharpened unconsciously as the fight continued) against the pain wracking his body with each hit, letting out hard, short grunts with each sharp blow. He had taken many beatings before, and he was far from weak, but Oriel was hitting with such a ferocity Kodi had hardly seen before, even he felt himself bruise and crumble under the hits.

He had expected a fight, of course. Had wanted it, really. He knew the pathetic Korean he had left gasping against the wall meant something to Oriel, but the boy was fighting awfully hard over something he had assumed was just a toy.

Kodi felt his lip split and ribs bruise, stopping his own counter-attack and just focusing on taking the brunt of Oriel's punches to his arms and other muscle-dense areas. He waited to see if his ability would take some effect, wondering if Oriel was too far into his bloodrage to even notice if something was happening.

But apparently he did. As Kodi's own jaw ached from both the barrage of hits and the use of his own ability, he felt Oriel snap back and panic as he lost the ability to part his teeth. With a bloody grin, Kodi took the opening to land a sharp blow of his own, right against Oriel's jaw, which was surely already in a lot of pain. He then lashed out with his teeth, latching onto the nearest patch of skin and sinking in his sharpened chompers.

Phen, who had finally begun to catch his breath, saw the change in the fight and let out a hoarse, terrified scream. Acting on instinct, he ran forward and grabbed Kodi's hair, jerking him back in an attempt to break him away from his lover. Kodi snarled and lashed out at him, hitting the scrawny boy in the chest and knocking him on his back, but his attention had been diverted enough to give Oriel another opening.

Phoenix was not just a toy! Oriel had already come to terms with that. He was…he was….

Fuck!

It didn't matter what he was, because Kodi still had no right to make him scream like that, that was Oriel's privilege and nobody else's no matter what!! Kissing maybe. Fucking, we'll talk. But nobody was allowed to hurt him!

Oriel took the blow to his mandible with a muffled cry from his throat, unable to fully vocalize his screams of pain from both the hit and the torturous pain that was shooting up and down the nerves in his jaw. He gripped helplessly at his teeth, trying to find an opening in them to relieve the pressure or just fucking get rid of whatever was happening to them. Then suddenly there was a piercing jolt in his arm as Kodi sunk his elongated fangs into his flesh like a fucking vampire.

Between the aching from his jaw the searing pain in his arm, Oriel was far to disoriented to even begin another attack until Phoenix had jumped in and tried to pull Kodi off of his master. As soon as Phoenix had been pushed away again, Oriel had recovered enough to eat the pain and throw himself back over Kodi, pushing him awkwardly onto his side, and trying to hold down that psycho while he shot his fist into his face, into his arm, into his back, into his kidney…

Another jolt of pain seared through his teeth and Oriel double down, trying to breath through it. It was getting harder to breath.

Kodi got a thrill from hearing the muffled scream come from Oriel's cemented jaw, planning on taking full advantage of the change of the fight and barreling forward with his own shots, which started out with the sharp bite to his arm. He ignored his own throbs of pain as he prepared to launch into more hits...

Until the stupid fucking twig came in and distracted him enough to break his concentration.

He hit the Korean kid hard enough to cause some sort of damage to his weak frame, he was sure, but he didn't have time to go back into fighting against Oriel before he felt himself being pummeled again, thrown onto his side and crying out in longer, louder screeches as Oriel continued to hit him without restraint. Eventually his limbs began to go numb, and a particularly hard jolt to his kidney successfully made him go limp, his body stunned from taking too much. He panted in agony as Oriel gasped for his own breath, eyes wide with fury and fear as his body refused to work, his arms sluggishly wrapping around his head as he curled in on himself. It was all he could do.

And even as he lost control of his movements, he felt his ability slip away, losing its grip on Oriel's teeth and releasing the cemented bond between them. He let out an aching cry as his own teeth slipped back into their normal places, intense pain blossoming from each affected part.

Oriel was not a person who normally fought. He poked, he prodded, he made people uncomfortable, but rarely did he ever throw punches at people. He was an antagonist and a runner, first and foremost. That didn't mean that he didn't know how to fight. Nor that he hadn't been in them before.

However, since he'd been to Hammel, the fights where Oriel had been the one to throw a punch had been in response to the opposing party threatening something important to him. Like his sanity, his friends, his lovers. Threatening to destroy them, take them away, violate them in some unspeakable manner. It was too easy for Oriel to lose his head in the face of such threats. And Oriel had long since lost his in this fight.

Though it was more like a beating at this point.

Oriel was breathing hard, but unable to catch it just from breathing through his nose and the small passages in the back of his mouth. With all the exertion, he was starting to get dizzy. But Oriel fully intended on plowing forward until either he or Kodi passed out, whichever came first.

Finally, with that last strike to Kodi's lower back, Oriel felt the tension on his teeth loosen up and the ache starting to recede. Oriel gasped out the moment he could finally open his jaw and stood up over Kodi's curled up body, his eyes glaring dagger down at the prone boy. He didn't stare long though, as he almost instantly restarted his blitzkrieg, kicking the boy below over and over until he felt hands pulling him away.
