Hammel’s Secret Santa Fic Exchange
Welcome one and all to the Second Annual Secret Santa Fic Exchange! Why not get into the holiday spirit by exchanging short fics of your favorite Hammel characters with all of our friends here at Hammel?
Read the information below, and please sign up before the deadline!
How it Works
-Everyone who participates will write one fic for another participant, and in return receive a fic they request from another participant. (I’m limiting it to one fic per person to keep it simple)
-At the bottom of this post, you’ll see a form: pm that form to me (don't post it here or it will ruin the surprise!), and you’ll be entered in the drawing.
-You’ll later receive another member’s request, and will have until the deadline (see calendar below) to write the fic! Then we’ll all post our fics and enjoy the Hammel holiday love!
Guidelines
1. There’s no official word count, but typically gift fics are a bit longer than a drabble (100-250 words) unless otherwise requested. 300-4,000 words is a great target range. It can, of course, be longer, as long as it’s complete by the deadline!
2. Since we will be posting our fics on-site, please keep them appropriate for all ages. You know what that means. (Er, and if you don’t, PM me!)
3. To keep things fair, everyone who wants to receive a fic must also write one. So please only enter if you are interested in both reading and writing something! Consider this carefully, because it won't be fair if you request a fic but then don't write one.
4. Characters: As you’ll see below, you can request characters for your Santa to use; they can be your characters or someone else's. Additionally, you MUST use all of the characters that are requested while writing your fic, but feel free to add others if it helps the story!
5. Stories are not canon.
Calendar
Signups: Now through December 1, 2013 at 7pm EST. If you are interested in participating but can’t sign up just now, shoot me a PM.
Assignments: Will be drawn the evening of December 1 and PM’d to all participants
Check-in: I’ll be in touch with everyone on December 15 to check in and see how things are going (I do this because you’d be amazed how many people express interest and then have to drop out because things come up, etc.). Note this is not the deadline, but we recommend you have at least started by this point!
Reveal: Reveal starts January 1, 2013 at midnight EST and goes until January 7 at 11:59 pm EST. This is so folks have a whole week of leeway for holiday travel, etc.
SIGN-UP FORM
Note: Do NOT post your form to this thread; that ruins the surprise! Instead, PM your form to me (Tanner Larson) from an account you check relatively frequently, and I will PM you back to let you know I’ve received it.
NAME: (Yours XD Just so I can keep things organized in my document)
YOUR ACCOUNT: Just give me the name of a character you use frequently, so I know how best to contact you (I’ll PM you at that account). When you PM me this form, PLEASE send it from that account so I'll be able to get to it right away
REQUEST: Request which character(s) you want your gift to focus on here. If you don't care (I mean, REALLY don't care), then that's fine! Just say so.
OPTIONAL DETAILS: If you want a specific pairing(s), ask for them here. Suggest particular situations, settings, etc. Be as picky or general as you want – it’s your gift. Also, if you only want a drabble (a very short fic), you can say so here.
WRITING REQUESTS: If you as a writer have certain conditions or limitations under which you prefer/need to write (for instance, there are certain characters you do or don't want to write for, or you have certain swearing/gore/etc limits), put them here. I will do my very best to cater to everyone's needs, though it may not be 100% possible.
Again, PM me this simple form, and you’re automatically entered! I will then be in touch on December 1 to let you know what you’ll have to write. If you have any questions, you can PM them to me or post them below.
