The BasicsName: Rebecca Nicole Dewitt
Nicknames: Becky (father only)
Age:43
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job:[/color,] Teacher; Home Ec
Powers: Food Empathy. Rebecca’s ability is to be able to taste food and know the emotions of the one who made it. For instance, a stressed out mother cooks Thanksgiving dinner for a family of fifteen. In the turkey, the cranberry sauce, the peas, everything on the table Rebecca can taste her emotions, feel them herself. This does not happen with her own cooking however.
Another unpleasant side effect is, even in the ingredients she can taste what the hands who have touched it felt. Fresh foods are particularly sensitive items. That’s why when she was younger, most of the food she ate was processed.
Her power is mostly mental causeing slight headaches (mainly from the influx of different emotions) but also, if a food has a particurally strong emotional connection, Rebecca's mouth tingles, like when you drink a very fizzy coke.

General Appearance: No one would really describe Rebecca as ‘beautiful’. Not even her recent ex-husband of ttwelve years in their so called “happy days”. She is a pleasant woman with a long face that doesn’t look quite right without a smile. She is tall and thin, mostly flat in all areas. Her biggest dislike about her appearance, though it is mostly unnoticed is her size 11 feet. Her dark hair is in a constant state of dishevelment, like she had a bad run in with extreme wind or had a religious disdain for brushes. And perhaps she could brush her hair more than once a night.
As far as clothing and style, she is very low key, occasionally painting her nails, but mostly they are nude. She enjoys plain clothing, nothing too colorful or flashy. She feels silly when she is dressed otherwise. The only thing she is never seen without is her wristwatch which she wears upside down to check the time, and a necklace from her daughter; a small little silver trinket that reads “mom” laced around her neck.
Personality: Someone who knows Rebecca (perhaps on a non-personal level) would most likely say she is a sweet lady, kind and genuinely compassionate. Willing to help if need be, but a real hard nose if you piss her off. Her students often say getting Ms. Dewitt mad is extremely scary as she hardly ever raises an eyebrow to student antics.
Her daughter would say she’s a fun mama, a worry wart but fun. She is always looking for new exciting, “out of the box” ideas for them to do together. Her ex would say she’s a control freak who is too cautious for her own good. No good, lifeless, dull, etc.
Whatever anyone says, no one can deny Rebecca’s love to smile and laugh and enjoy the small things of life. Even when her ex is made to really take an honest look at his ex-wife, he cannot deny this.Your VicesLikes:

Rebecca was born a healthy six pound baby in Detroit Michigan. Her mother was a stay at home wife and her father worked at GM motors. They lived in a small fixer upper home with great prospects before a job opened up with a family friend and the family moved to Alabama. This was where Rebecca would grow up.
Even as a young girl she was a happy and kind child, always going to other children to help them when they cried. She also had her mother’s passion for food and by age 8, she was cooking meals most people in their thirties can’t do, like eggplant parmesan (a favorite).
At 9 years old, her parents had their second child Ruth. It was an unplanned pregnancy as marriage problems were starting to arise. Ruth was in no way mistreated, but the parents weren’t as attentive to their second child. Rebecca took on the role of care taker and continued till Ruth was teenager herself, even housing Ruth during her parents eventual divorce (they lived unhappily together till Ruth was about sixteen).
At thirteen Rebecca’s meta abilities appeared hard and fast. It started with a lunch her mom had packed her. As she ate her tuna sandwich, made with the celery, when she suddenly tasted something odd. She opened her sandwich bread. She wondered if maybe it was a different mayonnaise. Maybe there wasn’t enough pepper? But the sandwich looked positively normal. It was positively distressing to Rebecca. With every bite she felt more and more flustered, more and more distressed. It got so bad she literally burst into tears and ran to the restroom to calm down.
That night at dinner it was even worse. The spaghetti tasted horrible, like it had pure melancholy in its sauce. She tried to remain composed the best she could especially for Ruth but she ended up crying at the table, much to her parents dismay (thinking it was due to a fight they had before supper, which they kept quiet).
A recruiter came to her a few days after, which was a good thing because Rebecca hadn’t eaten a thing since dinner that night. Her parents had never heard of metas and neither had she but they quickly accepted the help the school offered. Rebecca didn’t want to go, she didn’t want to leave Ruth. Eventually she saw it for the best, learning what was best for her to eat without activating her ability, and the ability to suppress her food empathy the best she could.
She made many friends and all and all was a good student. After high school she went to college for a business degree, though admittedly she would have been happier in culinary. She didn’t view it as practical at the time. There at Alabama U she did a bit more partying then school and met her soon to be husband at a party through a haze of marijuana smoke.
After just two years of school she dropped out and married the upper classman. She loved Peter and he loved her. He went to work at a bank and she worked at a flower shop. Rebecca never told her husband about her meta abilities, fearing he would shun her. He revealed his dislike for metas on their first year of marriage as they saw a man trying to hide his wings.
Eventually the couple got on their feet and moved to a small house where they would spend the remainder of their marriage. Through Rebecca’s parents messy divorce Ruth came and stayed with them off and on. A non-meta, much to Rebecca’s relief. When Olivia was born Rebecca and Peter were over joyed. But they were also having troubles. Rebecca knew Peter had cheated. After a long day at the restaurant, Rebecca came home to a beautiful dinner. All of it tasted like betrayal, secrets, and above all, the overwhelming feeling of wanting to do it again.
Rebecca and Peter divorced when Olivia was five and Rebecca moved to Vermont with sole custody of Olivia. She applied for a teacher’s position after the move (which was a poor move on her part). She lived in a small apartment for almost a year before the job and was able to move to a house.
Roleplay Example
Haven had eaten plenty of cake…and eating too much of it wasn’t something that made you puke quite like that. She could be contagious. Haven couldn’t afford to be sick. But maybe it was too much cake. Did cake do that to people? These thoughts raced through her mind rather quickly before evaporating at her next spoken thought.
“Pheromone manipulation?” Haven said sniffing the air and laughed. “I only smell that way when I’m around someone with your ability.
Unlike her usual run ins with powers of late, she rather enjoyed being a copycat around certain people. Pheromone manipulation was a power that brought her back to her days at Kocher, when she danced with a boy with a similar ability. Of course Haven never had a boyfriend till she was much older and graduated. Still, he had been her first crush and she remembered the smell of him, and of her when copying his ability. She thought a couple times to ask him how to use it, considering it would be a good excuse for a conversation, but she never gathered up enough courage.
“And yes I was at Kocher.” Haven smiled, liking Abby more and more. She was nice. But maybe that was the pheromones talking. Haven shook her head and started to block off the ability with her mind. No. This woman was really nice. Perhaps Haven had found her first girl-friend since she’s been at Hammel (all this testosterone was giving her a headache).
