I Hear You Looking at Me [Malachai]

The rare warm day was extremely welcomed. As much as he enjoyed layers, it made exercise that much more difficult. Lance was a runner more than anything and it kinda sucked when that need was blocked for snow. A slight pant as he came at a stop, he had class in a few hours so the young man was making use of the good area. It wasn’t just him, he could see (and, on occasion hear verbally and mentally) the others out and about using the rare moment of light to the best of their ability.

Yanking at his singlet as he looked for a tap to refill his water bottle... trying to cool himself down when he saw the line and a soft groan as he knew that he didn’t really want to wait that as he moved himself to an unoccupied bench to pretend to fix his shoe laces when... well, Lance wasn’t proud but he decided to look around at the guys. There was no harm in that? No one would of noticed... heck, none would know if he started listening in to their thoughts.

Scoping the area as he caught one guys eyes he flashed a timid smile to him with a slight blush... which wouldn’t really be noticed with the slight flush and sweat on his brow. He adjusted himself on the back of the bench as he pretended (poorly) not to look at him, letting himself slip into his trains of thought.

Fortunately, Kai's classes were done for the term - which was why he was taking his leisurely time on his run today. He didn't run on a regular basis, preferring yoga and weight training, but he knew it was important to get in cardio too, so he made himself do it a couple times throughout the week. By the time he was done, his heart was racing and his breath came in short pants, and Kai wiped at his brow as he found his way to a water fountain and waited his turn for a drink.

Once he'd gotten his fill, he glanced around the area, just happening to catch the gaze of a handsome stranger. The guy smiled, which made Kai quirk an eyebrow and smile back unconsciously. Well, that was... Unexpected. Taking the smile as an invitation, Kai sauntered over and sat next to the stranger on the bench, tugging at his damp shirt.

"Nice day for a run, huh?" he greeted, subtly giving the guy a glance-over. Not bad. Not bad... At all. He was even prettier up close. "I don't think I've seen you around. I'm Kai," he added, offering a hand. "I, ah, noticed you looking... Can I help you with anything?" A subtle (or not so subtle) way to inform the guy that he had noticed him staring.

Lord. he thought to himself as he was coming over... thankful for the sweat on his brow not being seen as an sudden onset of nerves. He couldn’t help but watch him as he tugged around his shirt. Suddenly, he felt in more need for a drink as he came up and sat beside him. Feeling somewhat speechless (and kinda foolish but that was a different story.)

“Y-yeah, gotta get the sun before the snow comes back and having to stick to indoor stuff.” he said with a nervous smile to the other, struggling to not scope him out. Though, from the sounds (or, the others thoughts) of the matter... he wasn’t alone. “Lance.” he said as he offered a clammy hand (again, thankful for the running excuse) to Kai... who had a very nice handshake.

“Oh!” he felt his eyes shot open “Oh... t-that? I was... just ya know...” fumbling with his words “just don’t see many out today.” he tried to pass it as completely normal... even if it probably wasn’t (or probably was, in Kai’s case) a normal thing to stare at sweaty, good looking blokes.

Kai chuckled, nodding lightly. "I know what you mean. I don't mind the snow too much, but it gets old after a while." And he liked being able to go shirtless when he went on his runs and have a good excuse; it was too cold to do it now. Vanity? A bit. Especially when cuties like this guy were around. "Nice to meet you, Lance," he replied, his own hand perspiring lightly as he shook firmly. His eyes studied the guy's handsome features for a moment before he finally looked away with a small smile. Even if he couldn't read people's minds, he was good at reading faces.

His smile widened as the guy stammered, and he sent a sly, mischievous look Lance's way. "I getcha," he replied airily, leaning back against the bench. "I like to stare at handsome men too." His eyes twinkled knowingly, giving Lance another more obvious glance-over before he wiped at his brow and broke his gaze. "I don't know about you, but I gotta stretch after a good run, otherwise I get really tight the next day." He smirked. "It'd be fun to have someone to do it with." And show off his yoga-earned flexibility in front of a hot guy? Hell yeah.

“Not gonna last long though... once it starts ain’t gonna stop till winters over.” He couldn’t wait... the cold sucked and getting to and from campus with snow and black ice everywhere. A silent smile to Kai, he wanted to say something corny like the pleasure was his but he just... wasn’t that cool to pass that kind of thing. Or that ready, to say the least.

His eyes shot open to his accusation, no matter how true it was “Me? No-no, not that. I was-I was just- a know.” Trying to back peddle his unsubtle gawk from before. It helped that Kai wasn’t offended that Lance was giving him a look. Hearing the words and thoughts... Lance wasn’t one to usually abuse the knowledge, but... sometimes. “Yeah, I get that... though not quite good at doing all the stretches... just the basic stuff you get from school.” he gave a slight shrug “Guess if you can lead them I can try and follow.”

"Yeah..." Kai sighed. He much preferred summer over this stuff. Having to bundle yourself up just to go outside sucked. But then again, it was a good excuse to cuddle someone when it was cold!

His grin widened as Lance began to stammer, and he let out a small laugh. "It's alright, it's flattering." He didn't know that the stranger was sort of in the closet; all he knew was that he'd been checking him out, and Kai was a person that leapt at those sort of chances. He was also unaware that Lance was a telepath, so his thoughts were definitely wandering into the unclean without really meaning to. "No worries. I've had quite a bit of... Experience myself. I'm a yoga instructor, so that helps."

He stood then, stretching his arms above his head. "Want to go inside the Rec Center? It will be easier to keep warm in there." And maybe one of the mat rooms would be empty for them to use. With a jerk of his head, Kai waited to see if Lance would follow before heading in that direction. At least it was close.
