Phen had sent a text to Gryph only a few minutes before. Now he sat pondering, wanting to talk to Oriel too. He knew his boyfriend likely wouldn't reply very quickly, but... He missed him, dammit! (Even though he'd seen him like twenty minutes ago). And... He wanted him to know what was going on, so he could find Gryph after this was over and take him up to their room for the two to meet.

Because that would go smooth, right?

To: Squishy
Hey babe. I miss yoooou! Detention is stupid.... I wish you were here, at least :/ Oh by the way, um, I ran into someone today that you should meet....

Not knowing what else to say, he pressed send. How on earth was he gonna explain Gryph to Oriel?

Oriel had his own detention schedule which mostly consisted of gardenwork, or janitor work, or just plain hard labor-like work in general. Most importantly, it was not at the same time as either Phoenix, Erik, or Kodi. Preventative measures, no doubt.

Today, however, he wasn't at detention, but was pretending to be working away in the computer lab, trying to learn how to use these stupid programs that were supposed to "assist" him.

His butt buzzed and he pulled out his 1920s flip-phone, reading the message from Phoenix slowly. He growled to himself as he punched back a simple message and hit send.

Phen knew Oriel was in the labs, so there shouldn't be any reason that he wouldn't respond. It took a few minutes, but eventually he felt his phone buzz again, and he smiled. Once again making sure the teacher seemed half-asleep, he opened the one-worded message.

It was always hard to tell if Oriel was mad at him, or if it was just his reading disability that made him give such short answers. Usually it was the latter, but Phen never knew. He quickly typed out a much longer response in return.

To: Squishy
Um, long story... But basically there's a guy at Hammel that I knew when I was like, seven, back home. Just ran into him today. His name's Gryphon, I don't think you've met him? Crazy coincidence though, right?

He pressed the send button and went back to work.

It took almost no time at all for Oriel to get a reply back from Phoenix. This one was a lot longer, so it took some time.

Gryphon?

Had he heard that name before? Oriel was very good with names, he would have remembered if he'd met this person before. But it did sound vaguely familiar, but Oriel just couldn't place it.

He scowled down at his phone again as he typed.

Don't know. Guess so. Sure. When?

Phen had just finished typing out a long text to Gryph when he got the response back from Oriel. As expected, it was short again, but at least longer than the last one. He bit his lip, wishing he was better at reading into these things (was Oriel ticked? it was still so hard to tell).

He tapped his foot quietly, thinking, then started to respond.

To: Squishy
I told him I'd text him when I got out of detention.

Well.... Phen was texting him now, but it wasn't a lie!

You gonna be busy then? I got about a half-hour left until I'm done.

He almost pressed send right there, then smiled and added a little last bit.

Oriel likely wouldn't respond in kind, but Phen hoped he'd at least like it. He finally sent the text off.

Oriel wasn't ticked. He was frustrated, he was annoyed, he was anxious....but he wasn't ticked. If he wasn't such a fail at something as simple as texting, then it'd probably be more clear. Unfortunately, messaging back and forth like this was part of the annoyance. Oriel preferred to just call a person straight up, though he understood why Phoenix was doing this........

Wait. Wasn't Phoenix in detention? Oriel facepalmed. He didn't know what was worse: the fact that Phoenix was doing something stupid yet again, or the fact that Oriel was surprised by this.

He started typing.

He didn't even notice the awkward autocorrect before pressing send.

Phoenix knew Oriel didn't like texting, but it seemed the best way to get this done with so Oriel would know what to expect, right? He felt bad about it, but he also just missed his Squishy and wanted to talk to him all the time. Obssessed? Maybe...

And yeah, it was probably stupid. But this teacher was super lax, especially with him, which had happened because Phoenix's behavior had gotten immensely better over the last several weeks, despite being in detention. Phen wasn't too worried about it; besides, he was texting Gryph too, so...

He giggled at the misspelling, considering calling Oriel out on it, but then he thought better of it - no need to possibly make him feel bad, or worse.

I'm texting Gryphon too, this teacher doesn't really pay attention. But I'll see you after if you wanna stop. <3

Oriel definitely didn't catch that unfortunate autocorrect and if pointed out to him, it definitely would have put him in a bad(read: worse) mood. He breathed through it though.

Another buzz.

Shit, how the heck was Phoenix so quick with this? He took another moment to look it over.

He was going to text this Gryph fellow after detention, but is doing it now? Oriel growled lowly. So he couldn't wait until after detention to talk to this guy? Who the hell was he? What kind of relationship did he have with his Phoenix? And besides that, why did Phoenix have to have people other than Oriel to talk/text to?

He growled again.
