Lani groaned and couldn't resist rolling his eyes as once again his trainer was telling him he had to relax. He had to just let go. Well if Lani let go chances were there wouldn't be a training room any longer. "Got it. I got it!" Lani snapped frustratedly cutting off the lecture. He wasn't a Hammel student any longer but if he ever wanted clearance to officially be away from Hammel he had to prove that he could control his powers. He'd had enough control to graduate and move on with his life but he'd honestly had a significantly less time than usual to learn his power and it was a lot harder than it looked, especially since it got a hold of his emotion and just had a field day. It didn't help that the stress of everything coming down at once was on top of him. He wanted to control his power and he was trying, he was even coming here on his off days. He still had too many accidents, too many near misses for anyone to be comfortable. He was so focused on pulling back his power that he was preventing it from reacting naturally as it wanted to and as a result he was getting blasted by backlash, getting migraines and getting frustrated.
His trainer, luckily for both of them, stopped the lecture and just bid him to do the action again. He'd done it successfully maybe three times out of ten. It always happened that when he focused on one thing he forgot about others. When he let his power completely he forgot about being human and when he cut that off he had to focus strongly on what he was doing and then his trainer hit him from behind. He hesitated and planted his feet. Someone had told him speaking would help. He already moved to direct his power, did he want to be the crazy that spoke as well. Maybe if he whispered it. He closed his eyes and with his feet planted he gathered his power and found the center and grounded himself there. He opened his eyes and ahead of his eyes were a collection of medicine balls. They were heavy, heavy enough that if Lani were to lift them with his own arms he would quickly tire. He concentrated and went through the motion. He sighed and lowered the floodgates. His power settled over the area painting a immaculate picture for him. He opened his eyes and the collection of medicine balls hovered in mid air. Now came the hard part. Moving and using his power.
He turned and his eyes found his trainer and he raced off toward the man. The stone floor beneath his feet shifted and under his right foot the earth went shooting up. He adjusted his balance and launched himself upward and another stone appeared in front of him. He collided the medicine balls with it and it broke. Shielding his head he dove through the rubble and as soon as he had his footing the room spun rapidly. And in that time his trainer had moved and a huge wall formed between them. Lani dropped the medicine balls and thrust his hands out and whispered 'tear' under his breath. His power slithered into the natural cracks and when he had a good grasp he tore a hole in the stone. He pushed it out causing the rubble to blast outward. The dust hadn't settled when Lani whirled and stopped a sharp stone from giving him a nasty blow. That was a very close call. His power and his trainer's stood at a standstill for a moment and the trainer dropped off. "You dropped the medicine balls." he said bluntly and they both released their powers. Lani growled in frustration and sent one of the balls rocketing into the wall, where it busted. He dropped to the floor and shook his head. Make that three times out of eleven that he got it right. His trainer patted his shoulder and told him that he'd done well. The liar! And called them done for the day.
"I'm gonna stay a bit longer," Lani said and the trainer nodded and left the room. He waited until he'd left before he dug into his pocket and popped a hand full of pain killers and laid back letting the pain show on his face now that he was alone. God his head was about to explode. And there was one more thing he had to do. Let it all out and see what happened. He didn't like to do it when his trainer, or anyone for that matter was around, because he never knew if he'd be able to control it. Hell, he'd almost killed Odion when he was in that state. Granted he probably would now, but then he had been very much in love, if he could do that, there was no telling what might happen. He sat up and took several deep breaths. He centered and grounded himself then this time when he lowered the floodgates he let them fall away completely. Again they painted this picture for him. He knew the room just as well as he could see it. Now the challenge was keeping himself in a state where he was aware. Ever so slowly Lani could feel the detachment starting to form. He struggled against the urge to fall into nothingness and he grabbed three of the remaining medicine balls. He juggled them before him and even as his mind was focused on that he could feel the door open. Without dropping the medicine balls his power examined the new comer. It was not his trainer. "You shouldn't be here," he said his voice sounding far away. He struggled to hold onto the humanity, if he tried to shut his power down now it would be a nasty blast and a little sleeping time for Lani.
