The BasicsName: Henri Gerard Rosario
Nicknames: Ree
Age: 23
Orientation: Homosexual
Desired Rank/Job: College Student / Bartender
Powers: Sublimation
What Henri can do, is turn into smoke at will. Allowing him to pass through cracks or openings of any size. This means he can also hover or float, if you will, and has a slightly increased speed in smoke form. The color of the smoke usually depends on his mood as well. Ranging anywhere from a white pale mist, to a dark grey. Like the color of smoke that comes from a fire. Occasionally he can even control the color, but it takes a lot out of him to do so. Thus, bringing us to the drawbacks of his power.
First, Henri can only hold smoke form, outside, for about 20 minutes. Less, if it's windy. Inside however he's been able to hold it for almost an hour. Once again, as long as their is no steady current or air. The longer he holds the form however, the weaker he feels after and the side effects last longer. The side effects include; fatigue, muscle strain, weakness of the legs, nausea, dizziness and a slight cough. He also can not speak in said form.
Play By: Landon LiboironThe DetailsHair Color: Very dark brown, almost black
Eye Color: Greyish Blue
Any Piercings? none
Any Tattoos? One on his side of like a weird jagged line, I think it was either a bet or he was drunk.
Any Scars? A few old and mostly healed burns, the largest of which is on the outside of his right thigh.
General Appearance: Have you ever heard the phrase; "Dress for the job you want, not the one you have"? Apparently, Henri never has. His clothes are usually beaten and worn through in places. Mainly because he's always paid very little for his clothes, if he pays at all. The man is not above dumpster diving for a good t-shirt.
He stand's at 5ft 10in tall and weighs about 145 pounds. His frame is sort of lanky and he always walks with a bit of a slouch. Mostly do to the fact his legs hurt a lot. Henri's dark hair is always messy, he just gets out the shower, runs his fingers through it once and walks out the door. There's a slight crook to his nose from getting punched once or twice, but it doesn't bother him. His face is rarely shaved and his blue eyes always seem to be looking off in the distance.
Personality: Though his appearance may suggest otherwise, Henri is actually an okay guy. He's talkative and friendly, very flirty, and fun. The guy just likes to have a good time. There is a slight problem with him and drinking, which he gets a little "too fun" when drunk, but other than that he's fairly normal and laid back. Henri really only drinks if he's had a rough day at work or school, thankfully that isn't often.
However, even on days when he's not to drunk to stand; staying away may be a good idea. Every once in awhile Henri get's these moods where he can be either really depressed or really hyper. Most of the time, when these mood swings hit, he gets mean and angry. He wont meant to shout or hurt anyone's feelings though and if he does, he feels instantly terrible about it even if he doesn't express it.
Secretly, he's a bit of a softy. He cries over sappy movies, books and sometimes even songs. If anyone caught him though, he'd blow it off as he 'got something' in his eyes. This should make it obvious that the idea of love is something he enjoys, but has no intentions of looking. The man's heart has been broken twice already and he feels no one can fix it.Your VicesLikes:

Strengths:
Because of his powers, Henri is very good at being sneaky. Then again, he sort of always has been. To anyone that can get close to him, Henri is very loyal and steadfast. He'll be the first to back you up in a fight, even if he doesn't know what happened or who's in the wrong. Henri is also very quick witted and can usually talk himself out of a situation rather quickly. He is also fun to be around and doesn't take life to seriously (at least on the outside).
Believe it or not, he is trying to better himself. Working nights at local bars, and going to college during the day. Going to school to become a teacher, has been a dream of his since he first entered Hammel. Now he finally feels like he may be good enough to finally accomplish that dream.
Weaknesses: Besides the random dizziness, and coughing fits, Henri has several weakness. The first minor one being chocolate covered orange. He goes nuts for it, give him some and he's putty in your hands. As corny as it sounds, ceiling fans are his nemesis. Those and of course air conditioners. All of those being mostly related to his powers, so lets move to personal.
Henri has no moral code to speak of really. He'll flirt and sleep with almost any man that shows him the slightest bit of attention. If he does manage to have someone steady in his life, he panics and dumps them. Thus causing him to have fewer and fewer friends. Also, he's very hard on himself, beating himself up on a fairly regularly basis over the simplest of things.
Fears: Snakes, fire, love. Occasionally older men, if they're rougher than normal.
Secret: He's been in love with Glen, his step-brother for a long time now, but knows it will never happen because he'll never see him again.Family TiesFather: Biological, unknown. Stepfather: Arlen O'Conner (deceased)
Mother: Maggie Rosario (deceased)
Siblings:(half brother&sister) Valor and Harmony O'Conner -twins- 16, (step brother) Glen O'Conner - 24
Any Other Important People: (uncle/former guardian) Scott Rosario - 34HistoryMaggie Rosario was sixteen years old when she discovered the news. She was pregnant. It was the absolute worst news she could have ever received. Not only was she sixteen, but she was the daughter of the local preacher. Her brother was the bad one, not her. Scott always got in trouble and at the time he was only eleven. To make matters even worse, Maggie didn't have the first clue who the father was. She had gotten drunk at a party and remembered flirty with a couple of guys, a little blurred passion and then waking up naked the next day in a strange bed.
For awhile she tried to hide the swelling of her stomach from her parents. But as the days got hotter and hotter in New Orleans, she just couldn't anymore. Franklin Rosario was normally a peaceful man. Quiet and understanding, not to mention a loving father. At least that's what he had the community believe. In reality he was cruel and ruthless. Beating his wife and children whenever he saw fit. Which was most of the time. Needless to say, his rage over his daughter's condition was really no surprise to her or anyone else.
After the sound thrashing he gave her, Franklin literally tossed her out on the street. He had no sympathy for the little slut. Maggie was crushed. With no place to go, she wandered the streets from town to town until a kind old lady took her in. The woman had no family and was happy to take on the girl and her unborn child. Years went by and Maggie and Gretchen (the elderly woman) became like family. As far as Maggie was concerned Gretchen was the only family she and little Henri needed. As all things go, that too had to come to an end.
Gretchen had very little money when she passed, but left the house to Maggie, who was by now nineteen. She wasn't ready to be alone with a three year old son, so she married the first man that came along. A mechanic named Arlen O'Conner. He was mean, rough and treated her and Henri poorly. As poorly as he treated his own son Glen, who was only a year older than Henri. Through the years the man become more of a drunk and more possessive of his wife and the two boys, even more so after Maggie had the twins.
Henri was only seven at the time, but he knew the things that Arlen did were not right. So did Glen. In fact, when ever he would be extra cruel, Glen would take Henri and the babies out to a little hiding spot he made just for them in the woods. Of course when they got back he'd still be angry, but not as bad. A few more years past and a beacon of hope arrived next door in the form of Maggie's brother, Scott.
The man would take all four children out to the movies and buy them things they needed. He was a fantastic uncle. Scott loved his nephews and niece fiercely, even little Glen. Mostly because of how protective he was of Henri. It was true, the boys had formed a very close bond. Something that would be tested harshly in just a few short years. Before things got very bad Henri started to notice strange things about himself. On his eleventh birthday, he started to have odd dreams.
In his sleep, he would get the dreams that he was floating. During these floating dreams he couldn't breath. Panicking, he would wake up and fall back on the bed, smelling smoke from time to time. That part wasn't unusual, because Arlen smoked. These dreams happened only once or twice over the course of a five days. At first, Henri thought nothing of it. In fact, he just thought it was his minds way of dealing with his life. It was a feeling of wanting to get away. That was until a man in suit showed up at their front door a day later, six days from his first flying dream.
The man tried to asked about Henri and the other children. Explaining he was a social worker that had been called when Henri (accidentally) showed a bruise at school. All Arlen heard was that his 'property' was trying to be taken from him. Arlen smirked and put on his best charm, explaining that Henri and Glen liked to wrestle and Glen had gotten a little too rough. All the while Henri had been standing in the living room, scared to death and shaking. Not because of the man or what he said, but because of the rage he knew was coming his way. The man seemed to buy this story, especially when Henri agreed to it and he left.
Sure enough, hell broke loose the minute Arlen shut the door. The moment Glen heard the first slap he snatched the twins and ran to Scott's house. It was the only thing he could think to do. He didn't want to leave Henri, but he had no choice. Scott did his best to get the boy away, but the house was sealed up tight. He called his sister at work and begged her to call the cops, but she refused. Later that night, when Maggie came home from work, Henri was locked in his room and crying. Arlen was sitting on the sofa, drinking a beer, smoking and watching television.
Maggie didn't know what to do. Instead of saying anything, she walked to her bedroom and started packing her things. This of course infuriated Arlen to no end, standing he made his way down the hall and locked his wife in their small bedroom with a satisfied smirk. Henri heard all of this and was glad that Glen and the twins were out of the house. Quietly, Henri stood and moved to his window. It was nailed shut by Arlen years ago, just like the rest of the windows, but it didn't matter to him.
From his room he could see Glen in his uncles living room, talking with Scott. He knew deep down that his step brother was upset and he wished so hard he could be there with him. With a heavy heart, the young boy moved back to his bed and fell face first into it. Drifting into a deep sleep, he didn't even hear the smoke alarms going off. The next thing he did remember however were sirens. Loud ones. So loud they had to have been in his room, but they weren't in his room.
He wasn't even in his room. Looking around he noticed that he was covered in black and there was smoke everywhere. Firefighters were rushing to save the house that was engulfed in flames. From the bushes under his window, Henri rushed out, terrified. Quickly the paramedics were on him and giving him all the help he needed. A few of them noticed he was fine, and knew very well why. Henri was only in the hospital alone for a day, before his Uncle Scott came to see him. Sitting up quickly, the boy thought his uncle had good news about his mother.
Sadly he did not. Maggie and Arlen had passed in the fire. Henri didn't care that Arlen was gone, but he wept for his mother. It was all he really could do. Four days passed and Henri was home with his uncle and siblings. Scott had taken in the twins as well as Henri and Glen. Arlen had no family to speak of, so they went to the next best thing. Those few days were wonderful. Henri never felt better, and never thought he could feel any better than that.
That weekend a man showed up at the door. It was a different man than the one who showed up before the fire. Henri hid behind Glen as the man spoke of a school and special powers. Scott didn't seem to surprised. Actually, the man had a few meta human friends and one of them had even told him Henri was one, so he had been waiting for this day. When Henri realized he would have to leave, the boy panicked. Then and there he was gone. In his place was a puff of dark grey smoke.
That settled it, and after a lot of convincing from his uncle and Glen, Henri agreed to go to Hammel. Not before being told that even though Scott couldn't afford to move there, they would come see him every other weekend. Scott was a man of his word and sure enough, like clockwork, Saturday morning the whole family would be there. As the years went by, Henri started to really enjoy the school. He made friends and was learning his power, but he still looked forward to his visitors. Most of all Glen.
Now that he was sixteen, the boy had started to develop feelings. Specifically towards Glen and he was very unsure about them, so he played it off as nothing. Glen noticed though and it was on Henri's birthday the next year that he got a big surprise. Glen kissed him, right there, in front of everyone. It was the happiest moment in his life. Two years of wonderful weekends happened and it was definitely one of the happier times in Henri's young life. He was about to graduate Hammel, Glen was about to graduate high school, after being held back a year, and the two boys had made plans to buy an apartment together near where Glen would be going to college.
One weekend Glen called to say that he wouldn't be coming, he wanted to go check out his campus and find a place for them to live. Henri was fine with that, excited even, but that excitement soon faded. The days rolled by and he got no return phone call. No emails, nothing. He even called the college and asked, they told the poor boy that Glen had never gotten there. For the next few months, Henri's main focus was set on finding Glen. He almost didn't graduate, but he really didn't care. All he wanted was to get away.
Henri pushed away all his friends, it was like the boy had just been lost somewhere in his own mind. The day after graduation, he left. Not even saying goodbye to anyone, Henri packed his large duffel bag and headed out. Was he looking for Glen? No. By that point he'd given up. The young man moved from city to city, using his powers to steal things when he needed money. After five years of wandering, he found himself staring up at Hammel again. Despite what he said back then, or how he felt. This was the only place that felt like home to him.
Then and there he made a promise to himself. A promise to better his life again, to not let his mother, Scott or Glen down. Or the many teachers at the school that always had faith in him. In this moment, Henri decided to become a teacher. He enrolled at the local college and started working as a bartender, taking on as many shifts as he can. Most nights he can be found either behind the bar or having way more sex than he should. That he does, because he doesn't care about love anymore and doesn't see it as important.
All he's focused on really, is getting his degree and hopefully finding a position at Hammel. Knowing all he wants is to help someone else.Roleplay ExampleCheck out Salem for this!!What About You?Name: Jonnay
