The BasicsName: Xun Jinsong
Nicknames: Zu, Panda
Age: 17
Orientation: Uncertain
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Electrostatic-Induced Enhanced Speed
Due to the friction of everyday life (walking, running, picking things up, basically every physical contact with another object), Xun builds up static electricity in his system over time. He can’t control the electricity itself (apart from giving some small shocks if someone touches him too fast), but the longer it builds up in his system, the more the tension builds, until he’s forced to get it out by moving at superhuman speeds. This includes running, martial arts, and any other form of physical activity. When he has only a little energy built up in his system, he can’t move very much faster than normal for very long; the more time between outbursts, the longer and faster he’ll have to move to release it.
His maximum speed for running is about sixty miles per hour, and for very short bursts of time and only when he’s been building up static electricity for many hours. More generally, he likes to release it in smaller, less intense bursts on a more regular basis, because the side effects can be fairly substantial and painful. They include muscular pain and tightness, joint pain, lightheadedness, tingling in his extremities, and a metallic taste in his mouth. He also has a decreased life expectancy due to the wear his ability has on his body.
Play By: Huang ZitaoThe DetailsHair Color: Black
Eye Color: Naturally pale blue/gray (wears dark contacts most of the time)
Any Piercings? Several on each ear
Any Tattoos? Several: This on his back, this on his forearm, and this on the right side of his ribcage
Any Scars? A few scars from weapons practice injuries, nothing too serious, although he has a fairly distinct, thin white scar on his left cheek
General Appearance: Xun, overall, has an almost feline quality about him that can be seen both in his physical appearance as well as the way he moves. His facial features are sharp and poised, with unusual pale, slanted eyes, a thin, bow-lipped mouth, and an angled jaw. He has distinct ‘bags’ under his eyes, which often make him look sleepy, but there’s nothing he can do about them. His hair is almost always naturally black, except on occasions when he decides to tint it dark blue. He has three piercings in his left ear – two in the lobe and one in the cartilage – and two on his right, both in the lobe.
He’s very tall and lean, standing about 6’1” and weighing in around 140 lbs. Xun’s long, wiry limbs and thin, toned core aid him in his martial arts prowess, and make him naturally fast, if not particularly strong. He has a few old scars from various injuries throughout the years, the most prominent being the white line along his cheek from accidentally cutting himself with his own straight sword when he manifested (something he doesn’t like admitting).
On average, he’s almost always found with a serious, neutral expression, what some might consider a ‘resting bitch face’. You might be able to see him smile on the rare occasions you can get him to laugh.
General attire consists of black, gray, and more black. He enjoys wearing form-fitting black tanktops and loose, dark training pants, and dons them for anything from class to working out to just hanging around.
Personality: Xun is… An enigma. From first impressions (and second, third, and so on, for that matter) he can come across as cold, aloof, and indifferent to the people around him. He hardly ever cracks a smile; sarcasm often goes over his head; he’s easily disgruntled and put-off by the antics of energetic, outgoing people. He has a difficult time making friends, which is really alright with him – he’s not much of a people person anyway.
He often appears to be in deep thought or contemplation, which, oftentimes, he is - he works very hard in school and likes to keep his quick mind active and sharp, and often slips into a daze thinking about things he could be doing when he’s around crowds or people that annoy him.
Of course, a big part of his life (the majority, really) is devoted to his sport, wushu. Xun practices on a daily basis, often shutting himself out from people and other social interactions to completely focus on the task at hand. He likes to refrain from using his ability as much as he can while performing, which can be incredibly difficult; he gets periodically frustrated when it messes up what he’s trying to work on. Fortunately, he’s not actually prone to temper tantrums, so he doesn’t lose his cool very often; on the rare occasions that he does, he usually just beats up a punching bag until he feels better.
The few people that are allowed to get closer to him will find that Xun has another side, though. He loves pandas, and tea, and anime, and can open up and be silly in certain private situations. He’s not really a mean person, just… Sort of aloof and stuck in his own head most of the time. And easily bewildered by the outgoing nature of some of his peers. He’s used to calm, quiet, focused environments; he avoids parties and large social gatherings when possible.
Relationships are a mystery to him, and not one that he’s all too keen on exploring, like the mystery novels that he enjoys. People are strange creatures, and he doesn’t know if he wants to go to the effort of getting to know someone well enough to develop any sort of ‘romantic’ relationship with one. He’s just fine on his own, thank you very much.Your VicesLikes:

Sifu Li, his wushu instructorHistoryXun was born smack in the middle of the International District in Seattle, Washington, on November 24th, 1996. There were a few complications with the birth, but nothing life-threatening; the only really lasting sign of anything abnormal about Xun are his eyes, which have been pale blue since the day he entered the world due to some genetic mutation. Otherwise, he was a moderately healthy child, if on the skinny side.
This, along with his somewhat unsettling eyes and sort of quiet, awkward nature, tended to get him teased and picked on during his younger school years. His parents encouraged him to do well in school and focus his attention on his studies, rather than worry about what other people thought of him. While he tried to ignore the taunts, Xun also desperately wanted some sort of outlet or hobby to make him feel… Like he was special at something.
That special something happened to be just down the street. Xun had been aware that the studio for Northwest Wushu wasn’t too far from where he lived, but he’d never really looked into it before. One day, around the age of seven, he was taking an alternate route home from school, and happened to pass by the studio when they had their large door open to reveal the small but impressively displayed practice area inside. His mother tried to pull him along, but he was captivated watching the students flow through movements like water, only to lash out like lightning a moment later, transitioning from place to place with apparent ease and grace. I want to do that, he thought. So he begged his mother to let him try.
It took only his first lesson with Sifu Li to get the young boy hooked. He quickly got better through hard work and determination, and found specific niches in straight sword, staff, and snake forms, along with the normal Changquan that most of the students learned. His long, thin limbs served him well, especially once he started building up lean muscle; after a while, people took notice of the quiet confidence he built, and he stopped being bothered so much. It was a relief. As he grew older, Sifu Li started giving him more private lessons; she saw the potential in him and wanted to use it as much as possible.
His first competition, when he was only eight, Xun won silver in straight sword and bronze in staff in the beginning junior division. Receiving those medals did wonders for his life; he knew what he wanted to do when he got older. He wanted to compete internationally.
He continued to train intensively every day as he grew into his tween years, and did very well at the twice-yearly competitions he attended in California and Bellevue, rarely competing without receiving at least one medal. His parents were very proud, especially since he managed to mostly keep up with his schoolwork as well; everything was going well in Xun’s life, and he looked forward to attending the University of Washington and joining the wushu team there before moving onto trying out for the national team.
But… Well, his genetics had a different plan in mind. During one intense practice when Xun was thirteen, he was in the middle of practicing an advanced straight sword form when something strange happened. He felt a sort of odd tension begin to build up in his body, like his muscles were getting tight; they even felt strangely tingly, like he’d just got a faint shock from an electrical outlet. It seemed to get worse the faster and longer he continued to go, until it became too much and his body suddenly became a blur, his limbs moving at impossibly fast speeds while continuing to whirl the blade around. He managed to nick the sword against his cheek in the process, creating the thin white scar that he still has today.
He collapsed afterwards, completely spent. His parents, not having the meta phenotype themselves, were astounded with what had happened; fortunately, Sifu Li had a bit more experience, and explained to them what had probably happened and what would likely happen next. Sure enough, the recruiters came in a few days and everything was a blur from there. Xun was whisked off to Hammel still bewildered by what had happened, but he did insist on bringing his weapons with him, and begged his Sifu to come up with a way to help him train while he had to be away. Fortunately, he found another trainer in the Pilot Ridge area with her help, and has been training with him ever since, apart from his trips back home. It took some adjusting for him to get used to Hammel, and he’s still a loner by nature, but he’s managed to find his niche and continues to get by quietly and mostly on his own.
