Hugo is a little taller than average with a lean build. He has dark brown hair that curls and sticks up in all directions. His face is long and angular, with a straight nose, full lips and thick eyebrows. He has clean shaven, healthy pale skin that is covered in freckles. Hugo stands awkwardly and slouches. He is usually clad in jeans and sweaters, t-shirts or button downs with a messenger bag over his shoulder.
Personality: Hugo is someone you can go to for anything, thats what they say. He is a calm and logical, so is good at solving problems and is always willing to help people. He is quiet and shy, but not standoffish. Too scared to approach people, he is without many friends. Because of this, Hugo is very lonely and sometimes depressed. He is ashamed to admit he is a coward, at the first sign of trouble, he turns and runs or fades into the background. His confidence is very low, and he belittles and undervalues himself regularly. Any Other Important People:noneHistoryHugo Banks grew up a happy child just outside of Boston. He was quiet, so had few friends, and was content to just sit silently and read. From a young age, Hugo was always attracted to water. Even begging his parents for swimming lessons, which he excelled at.
His powers manifested at age thirteen. He noticed that he could stay underwater for longer and longer periods of time. Until he didn't have to come up for air anymore. In addition, water around him started moving as if pushed by an invisible current. His parents didn't believe him. When he demonstrated his ability, they almost had heart attacks. Later that same night, Hugo heard his dad asking his mom questions. Things like "What did we do wrong?" and "Why did he turn out like this?". His mom defended him, but it still hurt that his father said those things. The family decided to try keep his powers a secret.
It didn't stay a secret for long. The recruitment team from Hammel Institute found them in three days. Between missing school for all three and causing waves in his neighbors pool on the third day, there was no hope of keeping his powers private. He was set to immediately transfer to the institute.
His first years at the institute were okay. He missed his family and got homesick often the first year. Due to his quiet nature, he didn't make many friends, though he wants some. He is also slowly getting the hang of his powers which grew since his arrival.Roleplay ExampleHe'd tried to control it, to hold on to his normality. It hadn't worked.
Hugo stared at the unpacked suitcase and hugged his knees to his chest. The paperwork was all done for his transfer, and it was official. They were shipping him off to the Hammel Institute. What a weird name.
At least the guy who talked to them about it seemed nice. But seeming and being are two different things. He tells himself to stop being so pessimistic, and to start packing. He gets off his bed and starts to gather his things. He hesitates, then dumps them into the suitcase. He was terrified. He was saying goodbye to his normal lifestyle and entering the world of weird. And he was terrified.
A while later and his suitcase was almost full. He'd finish packing tomorrow. Hugo flopped back down onto his bed and stared out the window. Everything looked the same, even though his life was majorly changing. The world goes on. Maybe this wouldn't be that bad. Maybe they had a swimming pool at Hammel.What About You?Name: Amy
