Dropping in on the new roomie (Mathis)

The shape shifting boy groaned as the last aches from the shift back to human form shuddered through his shoulders, his ice eyes half lidded as his fingers fumbled with the buttons on his shirt. Giving up after a moment he let his chest remain bare for all to glory in. He swung his mostly empty backpack over his shoulder, the sneakers within thumping him on the back and making him growl at it before trekking back to the dorms. He wanted to sleep, chasing the deer had left him rather tired and since it was still early he might get a few hours in before he had to do anything important... like homework. Pushing his fingers though his dark hair as he ascended the stairs he muttered something that might have been a curse if he could formulate words yet. That was one of the biggest downside to his ability, he often forgot how to string together sounds into words for a short time afterwards. Still, despite his somewhat gruff looking demeanor at the moment, he was actually pretty content.

Unlocking the door he swung it open and stepped in, letting it close nearly soundlessly behind him. The sound of someone up and moving caused him to stop, a bit of confusion crossing his features followed by curiosity. Had he still had his leopard ears they would have lifted as his head tilted slightly to one side. Peeking around the entryway he spotted one of his new roommates and a grin crossed his features. He set the bag down by the door and silently made his way towards the other boy, hoping he wouldn't turn around, when he was within arms reach he wrapped his muscled arms around the other's shoulders, a rumble very like a purr vibrating his chest as he grinned at the boy, lifting his eyebrows, his crystal hued eyes full of innuendo. Finally finding his voice he finally spoke, though much like him he didn't say much. "Hey there hotness. You're up early." Backing away before the other would get either angry or fall to pieces in embarrassment, Damion pulled off the shirt and tossed it onto his bed, he'd find a better one in a few minutes. For now... there was fun to be had. And far be it for him to deny himself a bit of sport, especially when the cat personality was so close to the fore.

Early in the morning, far too early for the majority of Hammel's population, an alarm was going off. Mathis groaned at the incessant beeping before launching an attack on the noisy object. No matter how long he got up this early, he'd never be used to it. Maybe he'd just...roll...back...asleep...

As his smoke filled blue eyes opened another groan fell out of the usually smiling mouth. Nope, still too early. He tilted his head to look at the illegally bright green lights. Five extra minutes sleeping accomplished without the mimic feeling a lick better. So Mathis pulled himself out of the warmth of the bed, a loud yawn pulling at his face as he stretched. Without a single moment to get used to the cooler air he was already crossing the room to where his clothes were situated, reaching into the bags to pull out a pair of sweat pants and loose fitting tank top. Mathis glanced over his shoulder to make sure his roommate was still asleep before yanking the clothing on.

Mathis was still shrugging on a hoodie to cover the top when an arm was suddenly around his shoulder and a deep, if slightly terrifying, rumble was echoing in his ears. His head jerked away from the sound and Mathis swirled around to face his attacker, a strange mixture of anger and a deep blush evident on his face. He stared at the male that he now recognized as his third roommate and blinked rapidly, trying to figure out how to respond. After a few awkward moments of silence the mimic just yanked his hoodie the rest of the way on and huffed, ducking his head to hide the blush. "What the hell was that?" he responded in his twang of a voice.

Damion was still purring, looking very much like a Cheshire cat when his roommate swung around. The anger mixed with that adorable blush caused the shifter to chuckle low, his eyes watching the other boy with a calculating stare. This one was sure to be fun. Stretching his arms over his head to work out the last few kinks from the change he yawned once then stood up again, moving towards the common area, snatching a t-shirt off the top of his dresser but doing little more then slinging it uselessly over one of his shoulders. His eyes never left the other, sizing him up constantly as he was prone to when he'd so recently been a cat. The boy was cute, and Damion was not usually one to let such an opportunity go. He spared a casual glance at the still sleeping roommates and dismissed them as unimportant for the moment, his icy stare returning to Mathis. The twang made him smirk lopsidedly and he took a few steps towards him again, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his cargo shorts, the belt barely holding them on his hips.

"Hnnn? What was what dear?" He responded silkily, a bit of his russian heritage tinging his words with accent, tilting his head ever so slightly as if confused by the question. The rumble was quieter now, something his human shape had a hard time keeping constant, but it seemed to renew with each of his breaths. Damion pulled one hand from his pockets and extended it towards the other, almost looking bashful for a moment. "Don't think we've been introduced yet. I'm Damion." He wondered if the other would have the nerve to return the gesture, after all he HAD just tossed himself over his shoulders and all but licked him. Looking back he should have done that.... maybe next time. Still, outwardly his expression was innocent enough, even if his eyes were full of intended mischief. "Nice to meet you." Manners first, well, almost first.

Mathis leaned away from the slightly shorter male, his lips twisting into an uncomfortable smile. Not that he disliked Damion, he just really like his personal space. Well he at least liked his personal space whenever the person invading was making some sort of... advance. The blush was still laying heavily on his cheeks but Mathis laughed awkwardly, turning his head away from Damion so he could try the 'nonchalant' approach. Though the affect was slightly ruined when the texan's smoky eyes flicked back to the male.

The word dear made Mathis blush just a little bit more but he ignored it, trying to pretend that the male was from texas like him and had just picked up a feminine habit. Obviously this wasn't the case, but Mathis would find it easier to deal with the male thinking this way. So as he ignored the word, Mathis took a few breaths to steady himself, the blush fading on his cheeks as the boy before him became more normal. At the hand offered the mimic instantly perked and held out his own hand, catching the other male's hand to shake rather firmly. "I'm Mathis, nice ta meet you!" he grinned easily as though he had completely forgotten about the past five or so minutes. Which he hadn't, but dealing with flirtation was always easier when he just forgot about things, or brushed them aside, or pretended not to notice. Ignorance is bliss, right?

The blush only served to encourage Damion, Mathis becoming almost like prey in his mind. The shifter tilted his head to the other side slightly, inspecting and memorizing the boy's features. His eyes flickered to the other's clothing, the hoodie mostly caught his attention. Was he trying to hide under it? Hopefully not. At the announcement of his name caught his attention once more and his eyes returned to the stormy blue of Mathis'. "Nice name." He smirked crookedly, his fingers curling around the others. As they shook hands the Russian stepped a bit closer, tilting his head and looking ever so slightly up at the older boy. "Your blush is cute. I don't know why you keep trying to hide it." He leaned in slightly so his lips were near the other's ear. "I'll have to make you do it more often." The purring words were rumbled, making the boy sound a bit older then he was. Releasing his hand and stepping back from Mathis with that smirk on his face once more he circled away from the other, waiting for a reaction while looking quite nonchalant and almost bored. 

Returning to the door he grabbed his bag and pulled his sneakers from it, sliding them under the bed and glancing at Mathis. "So why are you up so early? Seems a waste of a perfectly good weekend." He smirked wickedly. "You could come back to bed." Insert eyebrow waggle here for good measure. The boy laughed lightheartedly clearly enjoying this game. He didn't expect the other to accept the tease, but he couldn't resist. The boy wandered back towards his dresser and rummaged around for a pair of regular pants. Sleeping in these shorts was not the most comfortable after all. He turned his face towards the Texan and lifted a single brow. Finding the pair he wanted he pulled the dark blue flannel pants from the drawer and tossed them over his shoulder as well, making it clear he intended to change... the question was... when?

There was something about the boy, something to do with how he was looking at Mathis, that had the older male on the edge. The edge of what, he didn't know but it was the edge of something for sure. The flirting definitely wasn't helping him either. Mathis took another step back as the boy eyed his hoodie, feeling like the thin fingers curling around his were going to attack him or something. That something seemed to be the boy getting closer, close enough that warm puffs of air hit his ears along with purr filled words. In spite of his recent attempts of calming down, Mathis blushed once more as though he were just fulfilling the statement. The deep blue eyes instantly shifted from looking at the male to looking at the floor, an embarrassed laugh passing through his lips. "Yeah... Right... So uh... No." he mumbled elegantly, reaching up to run a hand through his short hair to try and ease his nervous energy.

Mathis tilted his head slightly at the sound of retreating footsteps, thinking that his new roommate would leave him be. However he was mildly disappointed to see the male returning. Even more disappointed when the male continued trying to flirt or whatever it was he was doing. "No.. I.. I get up at this time ta go train. Usually I'm already headin' to the field outside to warm up and then back inside to practice ma shots." he explained helpfully, beginning to visibly relax as he spoke of his favorite pastime. His fingers stretched across the back of his head and he unconsciously scratched at a spot that itched before he shrugged at nothing. While the other male was grabbing clothes, Mathis made the point of looking elsewhere- expecting him to change right then and there.

With his change so recent he was picking up on the other's nervous body signals, and did his best not to act on the less dominate tenancies the other was portraying. The cat in him was ready to pounce but he had a feeling that would put him permanently on the other boy's bad side, he didn't want that. This was too much fun after all. The shifter glanced at the other guy, genuinely curious. Why would ANYONE want to be up at this ungodly hour, but then he did grow up in a place where it was just too cold most mornings to get up early and be expected to DO anything.

"No?" He nearly chirped the words, as if they were foreign even though they weren't. "Where is the fun in that?" He blinked a few times. "After all, look around dear, this school is full of lookers. Both guys and girls." He smirked and inclined his head at Mathis, as if to say 'yourself included.' "If I don't do it, someone else will." Was that a threat or a warning? His tone didn't clarify. "Besides, I hate to miss out on attractive fun." He was being surprisingly talkative, it was unlike the boy but he thought nothing of it, he was probably just overtired and thus rambling. His expression changed slightly as the boy mentioned training. 

"Shots?" He tilted his head, inquisitive, "You play basketball then?" Shame, he would rather see the boy on the football field. He blinked as the other boy turned his head away, confused. Glancing at the clothing on his shoulder he laughed softly. Ah that must be it. He had no intention of changing just yet, instead he'd let that thought linger in the air like a threat. "What position?" He didn't follow basketball too much, it wasn't physical enough for him, but he knew most people DID enjoy it. "Can't wait for this snow to melt so I can get back into football."

Mathis was radiating uncomfortable, nervous, and what-the-hell-is-this energy in almost palpable waves. So he wouldn't have been surprised to know that Damion was able to pick up on his body signals. Though he probably would have just thrown his hands up and leave the room if he knew the cat was planning on attacking him. If stopped he would have just thrown Damion through a wall, or just run too fast for the other to keep up. One of the two. Probably the running since Mathis wasn't too big on confrontations. As Mathis pondered those scenarios in his head his smoky eyes maintained contact with the wall.

There is was again. The flirting. Mathis blushed uncomfortably, still refusing to look at the leopard. It didn't really help him either because he could just hear the smirk in Damion's voice. Like he already knew how it made the mimic want to squirm. Thankfully though the male kept his distance and Mathis was able retain some sense of dignity as he raises his chin and cocked his head towards Damion.

Finally! Something he could actually talk about without becoming uncomfortable. Mathis grinned easily, still pushing away all the flirting so he could answer. "Right, basketball!" he chirped, his voice faltering at the end as his smoky eyes took in the sight of a still only partially clothed Damion. Not that he had a problem with that, naked guys. He was in sports after all. But there seemed to be a substantial difference between changing in the locker room and flirting with someone and then undressing. Mathis glanced back to Damion and smiled once more. "I'm a point guard. And I was gunna try for football but that was ma brother's game. Didn't wanna be like him, y'know?"
