Triggers for implied sexual and domestic abuse
The BasicsName: Angie May Thompson
Nicknames: Ang, Angie May.
Age: 32
Orientation: Heteroflexible
Desired Rank/Job: Diner waitress
Powers: Power Augmentation: Angie can temporarily weaken or strengthen the powers of another meta-human for a maximum of 10 fold. For example, if she activates first, then she can expand the area of effectiveness of a power suppressor from 10 feet to 100 feet. Or, she can weaken it to only cover a 1 foot radius. She cannot use it on herself. Activation is effective within a five foot radius of Angie and is easier to control/augment her target's power several fold when physical contact is made with her subject and maintained. Maximum output can only be maintained for 10 seconds. For every 1 fold decrease in output, Angie can maintain activation for another 10 seconds for a maximum of 90 seconds at level 2 output. After each use, if her time limit has been expired, she must wait a full two minutes before she can use it again.
Side effects include headaches, fatigue, and weakened concentration, each being more pronounced in direct relation to the degree to which she augments another’s power. Fatigue and dizziness and possible loss of consciousness occur more often with repeated and continued use, especially when used at maximum.

General Appearance:
Angie is Stacy’s Mom and she’s got it going on….basically. As a young mother of just over 30, Angie has maintained a great deal of her youthfulness, both in looks and in spirit. Yes, she still gets carded at bars, but she doesn’t drink much anyway, so it doesn’t matter. Angie is a slim and slight little lady, her height reaching only about 5’5”, and might even be considered a little bit frail, but she likes to think she makes up for it with her guts. Her golden hair cascades in curls and waves down to her upper/mid back, a look she definitely prefers to be a little bit messy. Her eyes are a stunning greyish-blue that seem to be silently challenging and daring people to treat her like an incapable woman. Her pale skin will golden up in the sun, but still has the tendency to burn...but that’s what sunscreen is for. She uses it often.
Angie’s manner of dress is still locked into the girliness of what it was back in Georgia. Sundresses and possibly sandals, but only because it’s required of her. Angie enjoys the feel of dirt between her toes and doesn’t mind tiptoeing across hot pavement, though up in Vermont that has hardly been much of a problem. White is her primary color, and sleeveless if the weather can afford it, though if not then a beige or other complementary shawl or wrap will suffice to keep her shoulders from the chill. Because of her love for gardening, she doesn’t mind getting down and dirty so her clothes may often have a brown dirt stain or grass stain along the fringes, though she likes to separate her gardening clothes(which can range from floral sun-dresses to a simple combo of jeans and a t-shirt) from her casual outing clothing...though even those may end up with a few spots at times because honestly, she’s not a perfectionist and a little stain isn’t going to keep her from going and doing what she wants. At home, unless her son is keeping an eye on her, she’s liable to answer the door in a wide manner of disarrayed states, including in her underwear.
Personality:
Angie is a sassy and sometimes venomous little minx with a southern drawl. She’s a little bit defiant, a little bit shameless, a lot of a tease(which her son isn’t too happy about), and she drinks chocolate milk for breakfast. She’s pushy, energetic, spunky, and doesn’t like giving up, never failing to just get right back up on her feet after an awkward, arm-circling, flailing stumble. Then she just dusts herself off with a laugh and continues on her way. This is both literally and metaphorically. As a single mother, Angie is pretty much willing to go to any lengths to make sure that her son has the best that she can possibly provide him. Yes, this does, and has, included sacrificing herself at the hands of her former benefactor(her son’s father) and using her feminine wiles to get her boy out of trouble when he was younger.
Angie is cheerful in a conversation, though her lack of academic smarts often shows through. She might not like being labeled as a stereotypical dumb blonde, but sometimes the things she says only reinforces that label. But as said before, even when she stumbles, she’ll just blush, laugh, and move on because it’s not so important that she should let her whole day be ruined over just a little embarrassment. Making the image worse, Angie is also very forgetful and has to be reminded(usually by her son) to keep appointments, to clean up after herself, and when to pay the bills. Often, it seems more like she's the child that needs to be taken care of. Angie tries her best though and tries to not let her faults get to her.
Angie can be considered a free spirit and a very outdoorsy person. She doesn’t like being cooped up in the house, though when she does, Angie spends her day lounging rather than cleaning like she’s probably supposed to be doing. Nope, cleaning and housekeeping isn’t her thing, so her son often takes care of those things, for which Angie is forever and eternally grateful! Instead, Angie likes to spend her days outside, usually in the garden she keeps on the side and front yard of their small, cheaply rented house. When she’s not doing that, Angie is out by the lakeside. When she’s not there, she shopping for groceries. When she’s not doing that, Angie is working at a small diner downtown or is babysitting for the locals. It’s not easy, making enough to support a family of two, but Angie does what she can. Food-stamps help too.
Despite her confident nature and appearance, Angie is riddled with anxieties which she promises herself everyday to never show or succumb to. She is the type to wake at 6am and spend 15 minutes encouraging herself in the mirror, prepping herself for another day, before putting on her smile and starting the day by playfully chiding her boy for still being in bed five minutes later than he’s supposed to. She prays to God everyday, thanking him for blessing them with this life and asking Him to keep things the way they are for just a while longer. It’s exhausting, keeping up the role of the capable and cheerful mother, so every so often when she’s alone, Angie lets herself drop the act and has herself a nice good cry. Then she cleans herself up and faces the world again. Her anxieties tend to rise again when confronted with older men and she combats these by becoming more fierce and assertive. Because if she looks weak, then they'll just take advantage of her again and she would never forgive herself if that happened.Your VicesLikes:

Strengths:
Talking - She loves a good chat.
Resourceful - Even when things look their bleakest, she’ll find a way to move those mountains. At least that’s how it seems.
Gardening - She could grow a flourishing vegetable garden in the middle of a nuclear winter.
Sewing - Can’t afford to be buying new clothes all the time, so she fixes her old ones often.
Telling people exactly what she thinks - If she doesn’t like you or something you’re doing, you’ll know it.
Weaknesses:
Painfully stubborn - She refuses to admit when things are just too much for her to handle. She tends to take on all a lot of responsibility without asking for help
Self-sacrificing - Hand in hand with her stubbornness, Angie is willing to let herself suffer, often needlessly, if she believes that it will benefit her son.
Academics - Angie was never good in school and barely squeaked by with Cs in high school. She did not go to college. As a result, her vocabulary is low and she has minor issues with reading and spelling.
Lack of a brain to mouth filter - It makes her say ignorant things and reinforces the dumb blonde stereotype. Also keeps her from any level of tact.
Messy - Angie does not clean. She takes out the milk to make a bowl of cereal and forgets to put it back until after she’s done. She takes the caps off of spices to use in cooking and leaves them off and scattered around the counter. She’ll leave an empty bag of chips on the floor and her toenail clippings in the carpet.
Fears:
That Gerry is going to come after them and take her son away after beating/killing her.
That CPS is going to take her son away because she supposedly can’t provide for him.
The she won’t be able to give her son everything he deserves because of the stupid mistakes she made as a child.
That people are going to judge and persecute her son because she’s an “unfit” mother.
Men over 30.
Secret:While her mother is deceased and she claims to have no other family members, her grandmother on her mother’s side, and for whom she was name, is still alive and currently lives in Alabama. Angie has only met the old woman once and doesn’t intend to. Angie heard once that she was also a meta.
Angie spent many many years in an abusive relationship that she’s only just gotten out of a few months ago. As such, she might be a little high strung and anxious around older men. Maybe even more pushy.Family TiesFather: unknown, ran off after she was born

Angela Thompson - Grandmother (72)
Glads Thompson - Son(16) - Future character request, name subject to changeHistoryAngie May Thompson was born in a small town some 50 miles outside of Montgomery, Alabama on November 12 of 1982. She lived only with her mother for her entire childhood. Her mother was a generally kind woman but had her issues which manifested occasionally in ways that scared the young girl. When asked about it, Suzanne would just blame her own mother, that witch of a woman, for being such a restrictive, condescending, and controlling cunt. Years of hearing these kinds of things from Suzanne naturally created a bias in Angie against her grandmother, whom she only had a faint memory of meeting once when she was 3 or 4 years old. Either way, Angie took it all in the best she could and tried to make things easier on her mother who was working two jobs, had a bad smoking habit, and often had fits of anger to which Angie just ran out of the house from, across the fields and countryside, for a few hours until she’d given her mother enough time to calm down. In the meantime, Angie took the bus to the closest school which was several miles away, where she associated quite normally with the other children her age.
Shortly after Angie’s 14th birthday(end of November 1996), her mother passed away from an untreated stroke. Angie called the paramedics but the closest hospital was too far away. Without a mother, Angie was supposed to be left in the care of her next of kin, which would be her grandmother. Terrified by the stories her mother had told Angie growing up, she ran away from her temporary guardian, taking a bunch of money from the woman’s wallet, and hopped a bus to Georgia. She stopped in Savannah where she decided she wanted to stay. Now without a family and trying to keep herself hidden by authorities, Angie didn’t have a lot of options. She knew she had no choice but to make it on her own, but didn’t even know the first place to start. So, she decided that selling herself was her only option. Angie prettied herself up and not long after had her first customer. Angie lasted on that track for about two weeks before one of her customers, after hearing her story, offered to employ her as a housemaid in exchange for room and board. Angie jumped at the chance without hesitation.
Things happened very quickly after that(and Angie is exactly sure how it all happened), but before she knew it the older gentleman, whose name was Gerald Burgess, had everything set up so she could stay in his house(a mansion in her eyes) on a permanent basis, even setting her up for private tutoring! Angie had no idea how or why he was doing all of this, but the story he gave was that Angie reminded him of someone. What she didn’t know was that Gerry had also looked into her identity and made arrangements to obtain legal guardianship over her. For all that this man was doing for her, Angie was so grateful she thought she was in love. She thought that Gerry loved her. And the way he behaved towards the young girl only reinforced this belief. A physical relationship was just the next logical step, she felt. And of course, Gerry wasn’t one to refuse what was offered. After all, he now had his very own little princess to keep as his own and do with as he wanted.
In February of 1997, Angie found out she was pregnant and was manipulated into believing it was a result of her dirty, unholy prostitution practices. She had no reason to believe otherwise. But she shouldn’t worry because Gerry forgave her infidelity and was still going to take good care of the young girl and her child. About two months later, in April 1997, Angie was in the midst of a simple prenatal exam. They decided to take some precautionary tests and discovered that she had already manifested as a meta, an event which had occurred without any notice due to the rare and very subdued nature of her power. She didn't even find out what her power was until the Hammel recruiters picked her up about a week later. Gerry, unfortunately, was not pleased with the fact that his little girl was being taken away which in turn made Angie extremely panicked, afraid that he might abandon her for being unnatural. He assured her that it changed nothing between them and that she could still come home during holidays and breaks, every weekend if she wanted even. Things went more smoothly from there, she was happy, going to school and meeting new people in an environment she’d never known before. Angie had her child in September and was allowed to stay away from school while she recovered and started up school again soon after her 15th birthday, the child being left in the care of the nannies at the Burgess estate.
Angie spent the rest of her time at Hammel enjoying what seemed to be a normal life. So much different than how she grew up. She struggled with her grades, however, which made her graduate two years late. She kept her boy “pure for the Lord” just as her guardian directed. She visited home on holiday breaks and the occasional weekend. It was perfect. She was Cinderella. Angie couldn’t believe how lucky she’d become nor how it could ever have gone down from there. Because nothing could go wrong. After all, despite any warnings she may have gotten about Mr. Burgess, he’d never hurt her before. He loved her! And she was an excited young graduating woman, ready to return to his arms and become his wife!
Angie returned to Savannah in the summer of 2003, just a couple of months before her son’s 6th birthday. But what she returns to is not the dream life she expected. Instead of getting recognition, she was degraded as a whore. Instead of becoming the wife of the man she’d madly fallen for as a little girl, she was kept away, treated as the servant she really was, and watched tearfully as Gerry married another, older, more dignified woman. Angie feared that the next step would be for her and her son to be kicked to the curb and left with nothing, forced to live on the streets. After all, she was 20 years old, already an adult. There was no guardianship protecting her anymore and hadn't been for a few years. But no, no matter how many times she was pushed away, ignored, degraded and yelled at, for some reason Gerry kept her around. She was...his mistress, was the only thing Angie could think of. That’s what his wife called her. And it would be true, they did share a sexual relationship, and had for a few years now(excluding that first time), but it seemed now like that was all it was.
Gerry had to be fierce with her as Angie was no longer a child and no longer a naive girl in love. Angie put up with it though, being used as nothing but something convenient for her benefactor to play with, take out his stresses on, or just manipulate and control whenever the mood struck him, no matter how much it pained her. She had to, her son had a good life here, and she wasn’t about to let him get raised on the streets. While the boy knew of her plight, especially as he grew older where it worsened, at his complaints and worries Angie would merely tell him to just concentrate on school and being a kid. Insist that she was fine and it wasn’t that bad. After all, he was worth it to her.
As time went on, Angie realized how foolish she had been as a child. She heard of other trysts that Gerry had with other young women, that he’d kept them as well in his other estates and plantations. There were even rumors among the staff that he’d fathered children to them as well - by this time, Angie had gotten the courage to ask about that and discovered that he’d already confirmed it with a paternity test while she was away at school, however the inquiry ended with an altercation and continuous threats of harm to her and her son if she told anyone. The wife, who was young herself at the time of their marriage, was also resentful of this and blamed it on Gerry’s youthful looking mistress. She just couldn’t understand why he would keep such a manipulative minx along with her bastard of a child. The wife bullied her as well - cut her hair, spoke down to her in front of guests while Angie was working, stole or deliberately broke her things - but even she would ruin the benefits she got from her husband by tarnishing his name with accusations of unfaithfulness and perversion.
When her son finally manifested, it was both a joyous and dreadful event. Joyous because it meant that she could send her son away from this mess. Dreadful because things only worsened for herself after he was sent away. There were many days when Angie didn’t even feel like life was worth it anymore. Then she’d remind herself of her son and keep going. She always made sure she was cleaned up, though, for when he came home for visits. Angie still insisted that the situation wasn’t as bad as he thought. She needed him to worry about other things and not about her. When her son opened up about his sexuality to Angie, she made him promise to never tell Gerry for he was a “God fearing man and you should be too”. But it was when he came home during the summer of 2013 that he was found out to have been sleeping with Gerry’s legal wife. Also, that he’d been seen escorting many a fancy lady(and man) in the night life. Gerry wouldn’t have it. Like mother, like son. The boy was told he wasn’t allowed to return to that house anymore.
Devastated at this turn of events, Angie was lost on what to do anymore. She had no more reason to stay where she was, and Gerry’s abuse was gradually getting worse, especially as he had been trying to impregnate her again only to have been met with a miscarriage(something that she never told her son about). A month after her son went back to Hammel, Angie stole some money, like she had when she was a child, and ran from that house. She took a bus up to Vermont where she “surprised” her son with a birthday visit. With help from the local authorities and programs, Angie found a place to settle down in Pilot Ridge. Now, several months after having arrived in the small town, she is finally starting to feel like her life is put together - she has a job, she has a home of her own, her son lives with her on weekends - and Angie can finally stop being afraid.Roleplay ExampleSee spot run.
