Let the water roll up (Open)

Yasmine walked down to the lake grass from the parking lot. Tacicala was in her arms, this was the first time the sweet ten month old has come to the lake, and she was looking forward to watching her play in the water. Yasmine had adopted the baby girl from a teenager going to Hammel, the teenager quickly became someone Yasmine wanted to help even though she has fallen in love with Tac. She knew that taking up a baby where the parents still wanted to be in the baby’s life was going to be harder in the future. There was a huge percent that the mother or father was going to want the baby back, with this in mind Yasmine was working on getting into a mindset where this will most likely happen with Tac. She was hoping that the more she came to expect it to happen, the easier it will be when it does. As well as not fighting the birth parents so she could still have some right in the baby’s life.



“okay sweety, this is your first time at the lake! Are you excited?” Tacicala just giggled and looked around her, amazed with her surroundings. Yasmine kissed the girl on the cheek. She never thought about having kids by herself, but ever since she got divorced she needed, and wanted someone to take care of. And she hadn’t been in a place where she felt like she could start dating. Yeah, it was a goal of hers to start, but her heart wasn’t in it all the way yet. She knew she had to start sooner or later.



She placed Tacicala on the ground once they got to a good sandy spot, and then grabbed her hand softly. She had Tac sit on the ground in front of her while she placed the beach blanket down, the placed the dippier bag on one corner, and then the cooler on another. “Okay sweetheart, come here.” She took off Tac’s beach robe, skirt, and shoes . Then placed sunscreen on her, when she was done that she took her own dress off and placed sunscreen on herself while Tac played in the sand. When she was done, she started playing in the sand with Tac. She didn’t expect anyone to come up to her, no one really did other to say that Tac was cute.

Sean typically had good boundaries and a greater grounding in reality than his partner did. Unlike Josh, the telepath did not make a habit of approaching strangers on public transportation, or in grocery stores, or in other venues, in the hopes of making friends. Nor did he expect upon first conversation, or upon making eye contact, that the other person was automatically his friend.

Moreover, as the psychiatrist lacked his partner’s extroverted brain chemistry, he did not receive the same energy boost merely from being around other people.

Still, Sean liked the company of other people. More than that, he enjoyed the lake. The lake served as an oasis from other obligations, as did all time on the water for him. The lake also provided a place for community bonding, particularly in the spring and summer months when the weather turned fair and mild.

The telepath had come to the lake to bide some time that afternoon. Josh had taken Tomer to visit Charlie and Bobby. While Sean knew that he was invited on family visits, he typically chose to go when it was him and Josh alone, as he did not like overwhelming Tomer with too many people present, or with the intermixing of one type of family with another.

As a result, he had a book, and a lunch bag, and the keys to his boat if he chose to go out. Yet, while crossing to find a nice spot near the shore, he saw and sensed a familiar presence, and he chose to divert his course to greet her.

“Yasmine?” He queried, although he recognized her immediately. He stepped up towards the sand bank where she knelt to play with a baby, and a smile broke out across his features. “Fancy seeing you here today.”

Yasmine wasn’t one for going out and doing things on her own… Unless it was shopping, but ever since she divorced her husband, and adopted Tac, her life kind of changed. In a good way, and sometimes a bad way. She would get bouts of depression, either from her job, or from her life. She realized she needed friends… She didn’t have many of them now a days, which was a little weird for her to take in. She had gotten into the married life style, and hadn’t even known it was happening. Yes she met people all the time, but most of those people were patients.

Yasmine looked up at her fellow doctor, she stood up to be eye level with Sean. Or well as much eye level as she could get. “Hi Dr. Neville.” It wasn’t till she realized they were out of a professional place, and that she was no longer one of his patients. “Yes, very fancy indeed. What brings you out today?” While she had her conversation with Sean, she glanced at Tac, just to make sure she was still there…

Depressive bouts were a common affliction among mental health professionals. Sean himself was prone to them occasionally, although he had a routine that helped him to cope. The telepath had once read an opinion comparing mental health professionals to sex workers, insofar as each was a profession in which the worker essentially rented out a part of himself – as opposed to labor – in order to help others fulfill a need. As a telepath, in addition to being a psychiatrist, the comparison had resonated to a large extent. Not that he shared this with other people.

However, today was a good day, and he found himself in particularly high spirits. The weather was lovely, and he wanted to take advantage before the forecast changed again, as tended to happen during springtime in Vermont.

“Hello.” That was his innate politeness, as she had offered him a formal greeting. That was the only formality he wanted. “You can call me ‘Sean.’” She was an adult now, and she had her own practice in a similar field to him; there was no need for her to use his title.

He then smiled and waggled his fingers in the toddler’s direction. “I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather,” he explained, while the smile remained on his lips. “And what brings you two out today?”
