She couldn't really grasp the idea that she was holding hands with someone. It was such an intimate gesture that should be specifically for people who weren't trying to hide their feelings. Like Lucy and Penelope. They should be holding hands. Sawyer and Dani?

Well, it certainly felt nice.

It definitely stopped her from crashing into walls and pillars so Sawyer held on to the electrokinetic's hand tightly. "Where were you from?" Sawyer asked, licking her lips and wondering where she could find water. And fast.

How did this even happen? Dani held Sawyer’s hand tightly, making sure that the voice mimic wasn’t crashing into anything or anyone as they headed back to her dormitory. It wasn’t far, but time felt as if it were slowing down.

For once, the normally rambling Dani remained silent. It wasn’t until she was spoken to did the electrokinetic even turn her head and even look at Sawyer. “Portland, Oregon.” Her free hand reached up, scratching the back of her head. It seemed like such a random question. Then again, a drunken Sawyer wasn’t exactly easy to follow.

She opened the door to the stairs, holding it open for the voice mimic.

For some reason, Dani's answer was funnier than it should have been. Sawyer didn't mean to laugh at her, rather the situation that she had put them both in.

"No, no." Sawyer shook her head after recovering from the giggles. "I mean that's nice. Very far from me...my place...my town." She paused and scratched her head before shaking it. "I actually meant where were you before the text." She mimicked texting with one hand, holding up the hand to her ear as if that would clarify the whole thing.

Dani's eyebrows furrowed together, her lips pulling down into a pout as Sawyer went into a fit of giggles. Was that the wrong answer? But before she could ask, the voice mimic already began to explain. “Oh, I'm sorry.” She replied honestly, unsure how that mix up even happened.

Then again, Sawyer wasn't coming across very clearly in general at the moment. Except for one thing.

Dani started going up the stairs, leading Sawyer slowly. “Uh, I was going to get some snack food.” For such a tiny girl, Dani ate quite a bit. Her appetite was quite absurd. “I dunno if Lucy told you, but we were playing games before that.”

Laughing lightly, Sawyer shook her head at the apology. "Don't be. Not really making any sense right now." She pointed to herself with another chuckle.

Dani's explanation had Sawyer nodding in understanding before shaking her head at the second statement. "Uh...no? At least I don't think so." She laughed again, scratching the back of her head in slight confusion. Did Lucy tell her? She couldn't even remember.

"Sounds like fun. Did you have fun?" Sawyer asked, running her tongue against her chapped lips. "Um...did you get good snacks? Did you get water? I need water I think. Can we stop at a water fountain?"

Dani pushed open the stairway door, making their way into the girl’s dormitory hallway. “I did.” She replied with a nod. Lucy was always good company, and despite how she seemingly threw Dani under the bus just now, she had somehow managed to comfort the electrokinetic. “EDF is always fun. We got through like six levels.” Video games. It was a safe topic for the electrokinetic. It made the walk to her counterpart’s dorm all that much more manageable.

Before Dani could answer any of Sawyer’s questions, the voice mimic chose to continue talking. “There aren’t any water fountains here.” She explained shortly, her free hand gesturing to the empty hallway. “We’re almost to your dorm, then I’ll get you some, ne?”

And within steps, she reached the voice mimic’s dormitory. Stopping short in front of the door, she turned to look at Sawyer. “Do you have your keys?”

"That's good. I'm glad she's takin' care o' ya." Sawyer nodded with a grin. "I'm not much of a gamer. I mean I dabble. With bandicoots and racers and such. But not like hardcore uh...EDF? playing."

Scratching her forehead, looking very disappointed at the lack of water fountains in the area, Sawyer sighed but the promise of getting some when they got to her dorm was met with a nod and an appreciative smile. She was starting to crash, she could feel it.

"Keys?" Sawyer asked, clearly confused. It took her a beat to realise that Dani was asking for the dorm keys, which Sawyer never kept on her.

"Can we just knock on the door? I don't even think it's..." Sawyer jiggled the doorknob to see if it was locked and found that it was. Well, her hand eye co-ordination was already screwed up. For all they knew, the door might not even be locked. "Yeah it's locked." She started knocking. "Hey Ebony! Jessica? Lexicon! Open up will yas?"

Dani’s eyebrows twitched together. She wasn’t sure if she’d say Lucy was taking care of her, but the Australian did look out for her from time to time. Other times she threw her under the bus. Like now. “Earth Defense Force.” She explained with a simple nod. She should have known Sawyer wouldn’t know the acronym. “Crash Bandicoot is fun, too.”

Dani tried the door, unsure if the voice mimic was in the proper state of mind to even properly open one, and indeed, it was locked. She let out something of a groan at it, but before she could do anything more, Sawyer started knocking loudly on it.

Her eyes widened as she quickly reached for Sawyer’s arm. It wasn’t horribly late, but it was late enough. “Woah, hey.” She raised her other hand as a means to try and quiet the other down. “Don’t worry, okay? I’ll get us inside.” She offered a nervous smile and looked at the door, then up at the hallway light.

Not seeing the correlation between what she said and Dani's response to it, Sawyer frowned and wondered if Dani just spouted random shit all the time. But she did react appropriately when the other girl mentioned Crash Bandicoot. "Right? That pesky Dr. Neo Cortex needs to be put the hell down." Sawyer chuckled as she pumped her fist down.

The door dilemma had Sawyer crouching down to the floor before she leaned her head against the doorframe. "Sshh." She put one finger up against her lips and nodded. "I'll stay quiet right here."

Sawyer looked up in wonder as Dani looked from the door to the hallway. An eyebrow raised, Sawyer wondered what exactly was going to happen.

“Yeah, he’s a bit of a jerk.” Dani nodded idly, her attention drawn towards the ceiling as she replied, completely missing the dramatic way in which Sawyer brought her fist down in an act of justice.

When she finally did look at Sawyer, however, the voice mimic was bent on the floor, and Dani’s eyebrows raised in confusion, however she didn’t question it. The other girl was being quiet, and that was, if anything, a good sign that she was sober enough to follow basic direction.

She glanced back up to the light, and sucked in a short breath with a nod. “I’ll be right back.” She explained briefly. There was a quiet pop, and within a quick flash of light, Dani was gone. Moments later, she was opening the door from the other side. She gripped the handle tightly, feeling the residual tingle in her limbs and hands.

Dani looked down at Sawyer before extending her free hand out. “C’mon. Let’s get you to bed.”

Sawyer's eyes were trained on Dani as the Asian looked back up at the light. She wondered briefly if the girl was having a stroke.

When Dani disappeared literally in a blink of an eye, Sawyer's eyes widened as she looked around for the other girl. "The fuck?" She scrambled on all fours, looking every which way.

She didn't even realise that the door was opened until Dani's voice made Sawyer jump, her body twisting around before she ended up bouncing on her butt. "Where the hell did you come from?" She demanded, turning about to see where she could have come from.
