[India Hale]

India was preening when Georgina first appeared. She had her mirror before her, squinting at the reflection she found in it, brushing her hair back from her temple and then tossing it back with a flick of her head. She must have heard a sound because she turned, and a smile spread over her face like warm butter. Adjusting her sheer shawl, India stood to greet her, holding out a hand for George to shake.

“You must be Miss Speer,” she said. “It’s so nice to meet you.”

Georgina could touch her hand safely; India knew enough by now to hamper her ability when she needed it to. The student would be safe from any sudden visions of a perfect future.

It was a little after classes had ended. The room was sun-kissed orange from the afternoon light, where it filtered through the windows, dust bunnies dancing in its beams. There was a pleasant feel to the place – it was the standard school-issued office, but not without a few Californian charms India had brought to the place. There were turquoise beads in a small glass bowl, and carved, tiny wooden statues in the form of elephants or antelopes; there was something hanging from one of the walls, too, like a long piece of silk cloth.

“Come and sit,” she said.

India was indicated a chair in front of her desk. She herself sat behind it, folding her hands on her lap, and giving George a welcoming smile. She hoped it made her comfortable.

“So. I’ve read about your ability, but I like to hear it from my students.” India tilted her head. “What can you do?”

She had a trainer. She, Georgina no-middle-name Speer, had a trainer. Fina-fucking-lly.

And she was going to meet her. Now, there were multiple ways that the British girl could decide to act. Maybe sarcastic and confident, with witty banter and unhelpful comments about everything. There was also the option of possibly being closed off and withdrawn, saying the bare minimum and keeping to herself... or she could be preppy and excited, spouting energy everywhere and ridiculously happy...? Or maybe, just maybe, she could be herself. But! But... toned down a little, and with a bit more... what was it called... she couldn't remember. Probably something to do with manners and putting a filter on her words. Because she did tend to swear at the worst of times.

She arrived at the right room and... was she playing with her hair? Pft- no, come on George, polite. She took another step into the room and smiled when the woman saw her. She seemed nice. Nice was a terrible words but... was Georgina Speer feeling actual nerves? No... she approached in the most casual manner possible, shaking the lady's hand. She almost laughed at the name, Miss Speer, it seemed to echo straight off of one of her bank letters or something. The only times she was called by her surname was in all those fancy, hoity-toity places, or by a teacher when she had really fucked up or something. "It's great to meet you too, Mrs. Hale," Don't mention the name thing. Maybe later.

...she had some cool stuff in here. Really cool. And George was a touching person, she liked to touch things. She was seriously fighting against her will here.

The British girl looked to where was signalled and sat, squidging herself into the seat, until she made eye contact with Mrs. Hale, at which point, she stop fidgeting and sat a little straighter, crossed her arms across her torso, "Well, I can find people. I know where they are. It's really weird, and useless." Rambles. She shook her head slightly, and readjusted her hat, "I have to know their name, and what they look like, and I have to have my eyes closed. I kind of... see where they are. And I know. It's not exactly specific, like... I've tracked my mum before and it said she was in London, but y'know... that's not useful." Why did she ramble so much, oh my flipping penguins, "I was more tired and stuff that day, but... yeah." She stopped talking. Was that what she was supposed to say? What was she supposed to say? Was she saying the right stuff?

Georgina Speer seemed like a pleasant enough girl, she decided. Had a good head on her shoulders. Seemed decent. She slumped a little when she sat, but India wasn’t here to teach posture.

“Oh, don’t say that. No power is useless. It’s got personality, I’ll give you that, but a good many people would love to be able to pick someone out of a crowd – much less around the world. Can you do that, Miss Speer?” India smiled at her. “Or, if you’d like, I can call you Georgina?”

She wondered if she could; it would be impressive, there was no doubt about that. How much did she have to teach her, she wondered, if Georgina could pinpoint someone’s location across the ocean? The files had not been detailed as to the current extent of her powers…they always left it to the trainers to figure that out.

“I’m sure one day you’ll realize you always needed your power,” India went on. “And, forgive the ramblings of an old spiritual, but you might even understand that you were always meant to have it. I like to think I’m getting paid to prepare you for that day.”

What Mrs. Hale said was true. No power was useless. Some people could spontaneously create fire, and George could cheat at a game of hide-and-seek. Yup, huge importance, right there. And what she described was stalking, in Georgina's mind. So basically, her power was useful if she wanted to stalk someone or cheat at certain games. Brilliance, right there. She was slightly confused, though, by the wording, "Can you call me George, please?" She was going to be a lot more comfortable if she wasn't having her first name properly thrown at her. "And I don't know what you mean." She said, bluntly. Maybe her head had gone into overdrive about thinking about this meeting so much, but she, for some reason, just... bleh.

She smiled at Mrs. Hale's reasonings - as weird as they sounded to her ears, and however much she could hear her brain denying every possibility, it was something interesting to ponder on. "Well, I hope that day comes sooner rather than later." Impatient, impatient, impatient. But seriously - all her power seemed to do for her so far was give her migraines and the odd memory loss (oh, the great case of Princess Sufiya Masterson). As much as it was entertaining in the aftermath, right now it kinda sucked.
