SUE: I'm not lovesick, I'm just nauseous (Lucas)

[Marnie Sullivan]

Marnie lay on a blanket she'd spread across the grass several yards from the edge of the pond, legs crossed at the ankles and fingers interlocked underneath her head. Lucas was meant to meet her here any minute now, having made plans for a day together outside. Earlier she'd assumed the churning in her stomach was simple butterflies, albeit strong ones. Now she was feeling uncomfortable enough to briefly consider calling off their plans. But no, she was fine for now.

[Lucas Blacke]

A cheery Lucas strutted over the school grounds with the intent of meeting up with Marnie, which he had made plans with to spend the day. Yet he did not know how they would exactly spend it. But with the two most awesome people ever in one place it'd be fine, he supposed.

There was just a small issue of what he was feeling. But as soon as he spotted the girl lying on a blanket whatever he was feeling took on the form of a smile. He almost ran towards the blanket and jumped on it in the hopes of Marnie not noticing.

'Swandive!' He yelled as he plopped down next to the girl with a thud.
'Do you have any idea how much my stomach had been protesting me being away from you?'

[Marnie Sullivan]

"Always a charmer."

Sarcastic as her statement was, Marnie couldn't keep a smile off her face. It had been several nights since their evening escapades, and being out and about with this boy was exciting, achiness aside. Maybe she could chalk her exhaustion up to her runs.

She gave Lucas a peck on the cheek. "How've you been?"

[Lucas Blacke]

That cheek had been cleaned for the last time. Even if only just to say hi, getting a kiss on the cheek from Marnie was pretty much heaven.

'Oh, you know.' He responded as he exhaled. 'Overthinking life. Curing world hunger. That sort of thing.'

Luke turned on his back and put his arms underneath his head as he looked at the sky. 'Stomach is kind of stressed out over something though.'

His head turned to the side and he cracked a smile. 'Kiss for the meek?'

[Marnie Sullivan]

Ugh, oh gad, something was definitely fighting for space in Marnie's chest cavity.

"You're not meek and you never were," she told him, swallowing bile before giving him a kiss. It would be just her luck to ruin everything with nerves, wouldn't it?

[Lucas Blacke]

It was bliss with an aftertaste which kind of awakened the monster in Luke's stomach. Something crawled up but got forced down again due to Lucas not wanting to ruin it. Not first, at least.

'You taste funny.'
He said with a smile. 'Not that I mind though. I mainly blame myself. I'm not feeling 100% today.'

"Me either," Marnie admitted before lying back down, then rolling onto her side to prop her head up on one hand. "There were a bunch of absences in my classes today, I guess something's going around."

With any luck, it wasn't anything too terrible. Having a day off was nice, but catching up on homework was always a pain.

[Lucas Blacke]

Luke grinned and turned to face Marnie. 'The awesomeness that is me is-'

He rolled over and barely kept from depositing some food on the blsanket. Food in digested form, mind you.

'Woah. Something wants me down for the count.' He rolled back and mustered a feint smile. 'And it's putting up-' A burp escaped and Luke failed to direct it away from the girl. '-a helluva fight.'

[Marnie Sullivan]

"Oh, gross-" Marnie clapped a hand over her mouth as the smell hit her and caused her stomach to roil.

Oh god, not now!

Eyes suddenly wide with panic, Marnie sat completely still; maybe if she didn't move she could keep everything down.

[Lucas Blacke]

Luke propped up in one swift motion and looked at Marnie sitting completely still. The boy stared in silence for a moment before even attempting to ask what was wrong, because obviously something was.

But before he could do so he felt his own stomach writing an eviction notice.

Holding a hand over his own mouth he whispered. 'Now I know why we're near a pond.'

Using only slow, deliberate movements, Marnie rose carefully to her feet.

"I think I need to see the nur-hurk"

Marnie stood hunched, mouth clamped tightly shut, inhaling laboriously through her nose. Her face was as green as the grass surrounding them, her mortification involuntarily shading her skin - or was it the nausea?

I'm not gonna make it, she realized with dread.

[Lucas Blacke]

It was a race to see who would void their stomach first. And both did their best not to win that race.

Luke had his eyes closed and tried to keep everything down, while he did his best not to think about puking. He instead thought of Marnie. Which did seem to help up to the point where he thought about her puking, which kind of flipped a switch. And a gross one.

'Ladies first!' He yelled as he jumped up and sprinted to a nearby bush.

He had won the race. Awesome.

The awful sound of Lucas unloading onto the ground was the tipping point. Marnie had almost managed to convince herself that it was possible to swallow her discomfort and hobble indoors until she heard each splash and plop in horrific detail.

There was no time to exclaim in horror. It was all Marnie could do to aim for the grass instead of the blanket.

[Lucas Blacke]

In a far, far away dimension Luke would have thought this funny, but now that it happened to him it wasn't so funny anymore. Not that it mattered in any way because it was just the body trying to heal itself. At least, that is what Luke kept telling himself as wave after wave gushed through his throat, with an acidic aftertaste accompanying it.

As he was finally done throwing it out there he got up straight and realized his knees were a bit weak.

He scratched the back of his head feintly and looked at Marnie. Luckily there was no more food left to feed the ants with, but it seemed that they now got a drink. Luke hunched over the same bush and began the whole cycle again.

'I'm allergic to girls.' He thought in an attempt to make it all funny again, but failed miserably as he continued the chain reaction with shocks going through his body.

Well, at least Marnie and he were being sick together.
