The Rittley twins were born June 3rd, five weeks premature. Damien is six minutes older than Darcy, and tends to make a fairly big deal about the slight age difference. Eight months later, the two began terrorizing the world, living up to the “terrible twins” stereotype as they learned to walk.

As they grew, they began working together almost immediately. If they spotted something that they wanted, they worked for it together-- one being the distractor, while the other nabbed the target. In school, they were something of a terror to the teachers. They covered for each other, and when it came to falsehoods, they imitated each other's tales to a tee. Every teacher was glad when the boys moved on to the next class. The only person at the school who didn't dread time with the twins, was the soccer coach. Though they were still wild children in soccer, when it came to playing the game, they were great at it.

Sass-mouthed, precocious, and troublemakers, but also the picture of sibling loyalty and cooperation. Though they both had a penchant for trouble, Damien was no doubt the more extroverted and determined of them. Darcy, though still extroverted, tended to be the more agreeable, live and enjoy life type. Between Damien's steadiness, and Darcy's energy, they got along well.

At thirteen years of age, their connection became even greater, and that could not go unnoticed as odd. When it came to talking, they almost constantly finished each others' sentences, or talked over each other with sentences that conveyed the same meaning, though with different wording. Their actions began to mimic each others', sometimes to the point of scratching an itch one didn't even have. This didn't set of suspicions for the first day or so, as the two had in the past staged prolonged mimicry of each other for the fun of it.

However, the shift became apparent the morning of the third day, at one of their soccer games. The two worked together almost seamlessly, even when they were on completely different parts of the field. At the end of the game, their parents were not the only ones who had noticed. A recruiter from Hammel had been tipped by a meta senser about the twins, and the recruiter approached the parents after the game to talk to them. It wasn't a long stretch for the parents to believe their boys were what the recruiter described as a “gestalt pair”, and the twins were taken to Hammel a couple days afterwards.

Darcy was, at first, utterly fascinated by the idea of being meta. However, though Damien found it intriguing, he found it more inconvenient than anything, and even resented Hammel for forcing him to attend. His frustration eventually boiled over to Darcy as well, though at a lower scale, and for their first two years, the boys were worse terrors at Hammel than they were at their old school. They were in detention almost constantly, and even suspended on occasion. However, as they began learning more about their power, Darcy began realizing the benefits of Hammel and became convinced that it was good they had been moved there. Just as Damien's bad attitude had seeped over when they first came, Darcy's better attitude seeped over now, leveling them both out fairly well by the time they were about sixteen.

Once this happened, they found it much easier to learn, because they were putting more energies into learning rather than causing problems. Of course, they still tended to run with the rougher and more prankster minded crowd, but they were much less damaging. By the time they graduated when they were eighteen, they had a firm, though still imperfect, grasp of their powers.

In the years since graduation, they continued to hone their power, to the point of becoming very much one entity between the two of them. Darcy's happy-go-lucky approach at life merged with Damien's more goal-oriented approach, creating the light-hearted person that still manages to be serious when necessary that is the fun-loving Damien and Darcy duo today.

It took them quite some time to figure out what they wanted to do with their life after Hammel. Still in Pilot Ridge, they took several classes at the community college, ranging from English to fencing over the course of two years. However, they finally decided to put their enjoyment of sports to good use with coaching. So, they started their studies in earnest. They moved back to their home state of South Dakota, and attended a university close to home to get a bachelors in Physical Education. Two years into this degree, they decided to double major, adding in a degree in Communication for practical reasons and because of its flexibility.

After five years at the university, seven years after graduating from Hammel, they began coaching soccer and football at their old high-school. After a year of that, they decided that they wanted to return to Hammel, as they both missed the people and area. So, they moved back to Pilot Ridge and took a job as Hammel's Communications teacher as well as the football coach.

They love sports still, and have found that they enjoy working with kids to help them love sports as well. The combination of their natural personalities (happy-go-lucky and determined) makes them good at what they do, as they combine fun with serious competition. Also, being extroverted makes them naturals at public speaking and making learning enjoyable, so classes with them tend to be fun just as much as they are informative. They also enjoy joking around with fellow teachers and coaches, of course, and hope to organize a soccer team for adult metas in Pilot Ridge.

As identical twins, it is very difficult to tell the two apart. They both have blond-red hair, which they tend to cut off during the summer, then let grow shaggy later on. They both stand at about six foot tall. The main difference is that Damien is just barely stockier than Darcy, and also tends to allow his facial hair to scruff up more often than Darcy.
