Hay-lin took a deep breath; she was inside her mother’s dance studio. She just got done teaching a dance lesson for the seniors in Pilot Ridge. It made her smile, and her heart warm to ‘see’ all the free spirited, and energetic elders of the town dance. Dancing was a great exercise that did not need all that much energy to do, if you were doing the more simple dances. Today was exotic dancing, and many times Hay-lin had to giggle at how the ladies of the group were excited to move their hips more. She supposed most of the ladies would be getting some ‘action’ with their spouses when they got home. There was one lady that she always worried about when it came down to it, she was widowed, and this certain class was for couples. The lady had started out with a spouse, but kept coming back when her spouse passed away. In the time after Hay-lin had become the lady’s partner, and she was pretty sure the woman did not mind it and was grateful.
The certain lady came up to Hay-lin and tapped her on the shoulder, “for you my dear.” “Thank you” Hay-lin responded to the action like she always did with a smile and a bow. The lady had given her a fake flower, today was a sun flower, it was always a different flower from the last time, and Hay-lin was always grateful. The lady had easily became Hay-lin assistant in the class, and she enjoyed it, even to the part where in the middle of the week they went out for dinner. It was not sympathy from Hay-lin, but pure joy and honor to be so close to someone so sweet and kind.
It’s what she liked about her classes at the studio, she got to meet people she never would have if she only taught at Hammel. With everyone gone Hay-lin went to the middle of the room. Facing the wall, and not the mirror, like she always did by herself, she pressed the play button on the remote to the CD/ipod player and tossed the remote on the floor behind her. As the song ‘growl’ by EXO started playing, Hay-lin started dancing to it, even to the point of singing some of the lyrics she knew.
