All Work and No Play (Open)

If you worked at most schools, you got time off in the summer, but not at Hammel. It was a boarding school and not every student went home for those three months, and some needed additional training, especially Oliver, who he'd been working one on one a lot with. At least he wasn't phasing through walls so much that it was effecting his health anymore. The young guy had learned that he couldn't avoid everything or anyone.

He was just leaving a training session, walking out of the training rooms and into the hallway, wondering what to do with the rest of his day. The training rooms around were relatively quiet and he was beginning to wonder if anybody was around at all... Sometimes it did seem like a ghost town.

Working with the students with mental and gestalt abilities, Jaxon had been stuck at hammel throughout the summer months for those who desperately needed their attention.

<Mental cases, you mean.> Xavier shifted into control then, allowing his brother a moment of rest. The last few appointments they had, the students preferred the more docile soul. The one thing Jaxon was that Xavier wasn't was patient, and Xavier could feel his weariness seeping through their being.

<You know, if I had the energy, I'd correct you.> Jaxon offered.

<If you had the energy, I wouldn't have said anything.> Xavier smiled to himself, the comment alleviating some of the boredom that he had felt. Irritating his brother wasn't too difficult, and one might even feel bad to piss off such a tired individual, but after living with one another for 15+ years, they were used to it.

It wasn't always common for either of them to run into a face when working during the summer, so when they saw the Electrokinetic, he stopped. "You look exhausted, Everett." Xavier offered a sympathetic laugh. "How many did you have today?"

Most people required an introduction of who was in control of their body - they're power was incredibly confusing in that respect. The only differences between the two souls were very minor, and therefore hardly detectable. "It's Xavier, by the way."

"Yeah, well, that would be accurate," Everett responded, running a hand through his blonde hair. After a while, he stopped wearing gel like he had in high school, as his hair spiked up on its own from the electricity surrounding him, running through his veins. "Not many. Just one actually. But he's a piece of work. Oliver Barnes. He's a phaser...and he phases a little too much." He laughed a little and then confusion settled onto his face as he tried to deduce who was talking to him. Xavier or Jaxon. However, to his relief, the hybrid told him and he sighed in relief.

"Thanks. That's helpful. I'm bad at figuring it out for myself." The power, this hybrid power, was so confusing that Everett wondered how many people at Hammel it had stumped back in the day.

"I wouldn't know what to do with physical powers like that. Guess that's why we chose for Mental and Gestalts, instead." They had a relatively uncommon power, found in only a small percentage of all recruitments. It was a bit difficult for them to be trained in the beginning, but they had from the age of 11 1/2 to 18 to learn how to control themselves. A total of 6 1/2 years.

"Most people are," Xavier laughed, and Jaxon did as well. Sometimes they felt they should wear a hat that said which soul was in control, or something of that sort. But then again, introducing themselves first was something of a habit now. They just stopped thinking about it. "I've had a gestalt pair and a late-blooming telepath. We're trying to get him to be in control so he can graduate and 'get the hell out of here' as he likes to put it. I just can't wait to get out of here."

"And I don't know what to do with mental powers. I mean, gestalt pairs? I can't even comprehend that power, let alone being a hybrid," Everett admitted. He had to give a lot of credit to what they did and the power they'd dealt with. Being a hybrid was even more rare than gestalts and Everett knew that training must have been brutal. "Props to you, man. I mean, guys." He grinned sheepishly. "I promise I'm still working on that, on addressing you both separately. It just must be annoying to have to constantly say who's talking, you know? I mean, even if it is necessary to help us slow people."

He nodded at what Xavier said about training. It was hard work, just as hard for the trainer as it was for the trainee. "I know what you mean. You done for the day?"
