As winter crept closer and the days grew shorter, Marnie found herself having to push her runs later and later in the morning. Getting up early wasn't the problem, she'd gotten used to that. It was more a matter of safety – if she wanted to go for a jog through the woods near the pond, how was she supposed to watch out for roots and rocks in the dark?

So today, Marnie waited until the first traces of sunlight had begun to filter through the trees, and off she went.

Since moving into the Hammel dorms, the woods had become one of her favorite places to exercise. It was good practice for cross-country races, she occasionally came across a rabbit or a deer, and it was peacefully secluded – when there weren't any other students around uprooting trees, anyway. Today, though, that didn't appear to be the case, as Marnie maintained a steady pace along one of the forest's narrow trails. It was calm enough that as she ran, it was easy to let her mind wander. Her thoughts drifted to that math homework sitting on her desk back in the dorms, and away from where she was running. It was easy enough to stay on the path, but as she passed an exceptionally large bush, Marnie felt something under her foot - not as hard as a rock or branch, but large enough to notice. Especially with the noise it made...

Kurt was simply hiding in a bush because he wanted to rest and not get confused with a wild wolf nearby the pond. He was sitting behind the bush, occasionally turning or making a few rustles from his movement. He felt peaceful and glad to be quiet for once.

  That was until he felt a sudden shock of pain move up his tail. Someone had stepped on his tail! Kurt yipped from the pain and forcefully pulled his tail back to him and bared his fangs as he came out from around the bush to face the person who had just stepped on his tail. He wasn't exactly too happy about having it stepped on and began to growl as he looked as if he was about to pounce. He didn't want a explanation, he couldn't exactly think right when he was in this form. The only thing in his mind at the moment was primal instinct. He stared directly at the person and bared his massive fangs even more. He just wanted them gone so he could continue to try and rest.
