Dinner or...bust(ed bones) ((KOTY))

[Axelle Flint]

Axelle remembered the promise she'd made to her dad and stared at her phone, praying that she could make it through this conversation without warnin Koty to move to another state entirely. She dialed his number and put the phone to her ear, waiting until she heard it pick up and his voice rumbled through the end of the line. She would give it to the Japanese boy, his voice was very nice to listen to.

"Hey!" she said with a smile into the other line, fidgeting nervously. "So, I was wondering if you wanted to come to have dinner with me and my family.sometime this week? My dad really wants to meet you."

Koty had been in his room, sitting on his bed.. Reading an article about pushing through periods of stagnance in martial arts training when his phone had rang. He considered ignoring the call but.. well.. he could come back to the article, maybe not the phone call. As he flipped his phone over he was glad he hadn't ignored it. Axelle. He cleared his throat and answered.

"Hello, Axelle. Good to hear from you as always."

She.. sounded a bit nervous, though. "Dinner? ..I suppose. Unless he would like to offer me a ride, though, I am at the mercy of the bus schedule. Why is he so concerned with meeting me?"

[Axelle Flint]

"Um, well you know..." Axelle chuckled nervously. "He took me to the park when we had our picnic and he just expressed an interest in meeting you...," she reached up to scratch nervously behind her left ear and wiggled on her bed a bit. "And I am sure that it wouldn't be a problem for him to give you a ride. I'd offer to come and get you myself but...erm...I don't know if I can convince him that that's a good idea."

Koty shrugged to himself.. Even though Axe sounde dnervous nothing sounded all that crazy or out of the ordinary. Or.. what he assumed was ordinary when your parent was being a parent isntead of.. well.. whatever his mom had been most of the time. "Well then I have no objections. I would be pleased to meet your father. Would you like me to bring anything? I could attempt to make a dessert or an appetizer?"

"Um, sure dessert would be fine I think, I'd appreciate the effort at least," she said. Her heart felt like it might hammer out of her chest. She was trying to put her feelings into perspective. It wasn't like they were dating but her father assumed that they might START dating at some point...she assumed they'd date at some point. Was this too fast? Was she being overly cautious? She had to remember to breathe, she'd have asked for a hug except she didn't want to risk Koty accidently touching part of her and being swamped with all her emotions and...well...she didn't want to squish him. "I'll let you know at school tomorrow when a good day is...um, is it okay to come on a school night? Dad could take you back before curfew."

[Koty Hura]

"That is absolutely fine.. Are you alright, Axelle? You sound.. very anxious. Is something wrong?" By this point Koty was tilting his head and wishing he could at least see Axe to try to figure out what was wrong. It could be anything from something traumatic on TV to someone messing with her and being silent or.. maybe her father watching and listening in on her call? Either way, something seemed up and it seemed like it would be appropriate for Koty to attempt to fix it, even if it would be almost impossible to do over the phone.

"I'm okay," she squeaked. "Kinda...just nervous. I've never invited a boy to my house before," she admited, feeling as if the bottom had dropped out of her lungs. She wasn't even sure if her dad would leave them alone long enough for them to have a mini...date...ish thing. Maybe if she were lucky they could sit out on the back porch and talk for a bit before dinner was ready. She thought about the times that Koty had let her hold onto his sleeve when she wanted to be closer to him and felt her heart do those tiny little random flip flops in her chest. Did that mean she liked him? Did it just mean she had feelings because they were trying to see if they COULD be together?

"I promise I will do my very best to make a good impression, Axelle. No jokes about frogs, no Japanese, smiles, respect. On my honor, I will not embarrass you." It seemed like there was a lot more to things, but Koty couldn't really do much else aside from promise not to cause any scenes.. Hopefully that would put Axe at least a tiny bit at ease. "I will see you tomorrow and we can discuss details? I can bring you lunch if you would like.."

Axelle thought that was a bit too serious but maybe that's what she needed right now to be calm. "Okay," she said quietly, staring at her pillows on her bed. She wasn't worried about Koty embarrassing her, on the contrary she was worried about her father embarrassing her, and, not unusual... she was worried about embarrassing herself. She had the utmost faith that Koty would be pretty much perfect. She brightened at the idea of Koty bringing food for her. She really liked it when he cooked for her. "Yeah....I'd really like that!" she said with a bit more cheerfulness than before. "I really like when you make lunch for me, so whatever you want to make is fine!" she assured him.

Koty gave a nod to the phone and smiled. He liked that Axe liked his cooking so much, especially when it wasn't something she was all that familiar with most of the time. "Then I will see you tomorrow, Axelle. Goodnight."

If she didn't have anything else to say at the last minute, he would hang up his phone and go back to reading.. Tomorrow morning he would make them rice balls and glorious amounts of sushi.. Mostly for Axe, yes, but they would still share. And hopefully he could figure out what had made her so anxious.
