Halloween falling on a Friday this year worked out pretty well. The party that had been held at the Churchkey last year went far smoother than he ever could have hoped, and if he had to admit it, Cecil had been planning for Halloween since Easter.
He couldn't help it. Halloween wasn't really ever celebrated back home and the American enthusiasm for it was completely contagious. It fed his inner nerd in a way no other holiday did, and it allowed him to be ridiculous and get all dressed up without people thinking he was strange. Or any stranger than usual, at least. Just as they had done last year, he and the bar staff had spent the past few weeks experimenting and trying out lots of new drinks so there could be a definite theme at the bar, as well as spending all day today getting the place decked out to look its best. Faux-spiderwebs clung to the corners and realistic plushie rats peeked out from between the bottles behind the bar and black and orange streamers decorated the exposed beams. The look had been finished with red shades being placed over the lights, giving the place an eerie glow.
However the best part, in Cecil's opinion at least, was out in the little garden at the back of the bar. It had cost him a fair bit of money and a lot of time to set up, but he'd managed it – a large laser maze ran from one side of the little garden to the other, the green lights giving the area a soft glow. It ran from near where the covered smokers area was down to the other end near the tall fence that separated the garden from the road, with an area to one side where spectators could watch. He was thrilled he'd managed to get it installed and working in time, and hoped that if it proved popular it could become a more regular feature at events run at the bar.
As per last year, a guard on the door was preventing anyone under 21 from getting in and there was a strict no-costume-no-entry rule being followed. Cecil's own costume was fairly simple this year but he'd gone to lengths to make it as accurate as possible, including growing out his stubble and using temporary dye to darken his hair. He'd also decided to himself that anyone who recognised it deserved a medal. It wasn't exactly the most well known character from the most well known game, but it was one he loved none-the-less.
It was now rolling up to eight pm and the party was just starting to really get going. Someone who thankfully had a pretty decent voice was making the most of the karaoke machine, the drinks were flowing and Cecil was out watching over the antics at the laser maze. It had started out with just a few people trying it for a laugh, but it had begun to get very competitive when he'd announced that anyone who made it from one end to the other – without any use of powers – would get a token that would get them a free drink at the bar. That had certainly spiced things up a bit outside.
[OOC: Come on in and have fun! Absolutely every character over the age of 21 can hop into here (yes they will be checking for ID and yes under 21's will be told to shoo. Sorry!). Mingle, chat, drink and be merry! But remember: no costume, no entry! There is absolutely no posting order at all in this thread, and you can throw in as many over-21 characters as you wish. Have at! If you have any questions please message me.]
