Sweet Tooth [Sean]

Farron had been at the University of Vermont for two and a half years already, but she still felt like a stranger. She lived alone in her dorm because she'd requested it be that way. At least, that's what she told herself was the reason. It might be because her roommate last year absolutely could not stand her. It wasn't her fault that the trash had to be taken out twice a day or that laundry had to be done the second a full load was available. It was her enhanced senses that caused her to have such annoying tendencies.
So, it wasn't unusual that she had nothing to do on a weekend but visit her parents. They lived about an hour away from her college, and two hours from Hammel. After her father got a decent paying job and Farron was out of the house, they had been able to move into a decent home that wasn't too far from their daughter - of course, at her mother's request.
Of course, her mother had made it clear that Farron was to pick up discount Halloween candy because she'd always had a sweet tooth and stocked up on it post Halloween, since it was so inexpensive. Farron didn't question this and promised she would bring the sweet treats with her when she arrived.
Her car was a silver 2002 Chevy Cavalier. It wasn't the most attractive of vehicles, but it worked well enough. She drove with dark tinted sunglasses, which would be impossible to see through clearly with normal vision, but she didn't have normal vision. The sunlight was stabbing to her bare eyes. She wore a forest green jacket and denim jeans, and her hair was pulled to the side in a loose braid. She tended to avoid bright colors.
The drive to Pilot Ridge mall was twenty minutes out of the way, but she made that sacrifice to go somewhere familiar. Familiarity provided comfort and less of a chance that she'd be surprised by something unpleasant. She parked at the mall and entered one of the convenient stores, not taking off her glasses until she was safely inside. The store wasn't packed, but she immediately heard several people's conversations as if they were speaking directly to her. Joanne wouldn't take my shift, so I had to...Put it back, Jimmy, I said only take...Did you say two percent milk, or...
Farron froze inside the store for a moment, taking a few seconds to tune out the voices and remember what she was doing there. She regained focus and headed toward the sign that read in big bold letters: Halloween candy, 60% off! The shelves were picked over, but a few hefty bags still remained untouched. She had just picked one up to see what was in it when she noticed a familiar face next to her. Her old therapist.
"Dr. Neville!" She said, smiling. "What are you doing here? I haven't seen you in ages."
