Getting it together [Lucy]

The rush of blood through her entire system threatened to make her arms ache. It was a rare surge - truthfully, it had been years since Lucy had allowed herself to get so blindly angry with anyone - and the familiar feeling of it all only added to the shot of adrenalin she was experiencing. Hardened hands loosened to allow her to create that distance, but it was odd to see she didn't go far. Standing up for herself? As if she had any idea what was really going on in front of her.

A harsh look from this girl's eyes did little to penetrate the expression the ink manipulator and her inhabitants wore.

"Who are you fucking kidding?" Lucy asked, hands folding in front of her chest as she exhaled an exasperated laugh. "Bloody well look at you now."

Because the simplest course of action had her lashing out physically. Wanting to physically dismantle the Australian who incorporated herself into every surface of the room. Who visited and slept in their dorm every night Penny hadn't come to hers first. As much as the physical was imprinted, it must have been a stretch to assume the emotional followed suit.

What she would do to wipe that look off the bitches snotty face.  There was a smugness there that Karalie had never seen in another human being, and hoped to never see again.  What could Penelope, or anyone, find so appealing about Lucy? Who would ever want someone so crass in their presence?

"Do I look scared?" She drawled back, opening her arms and glaring at the Australian.  She was.  She was scared out of her mind that Lucy would do something drastic, but she was doing everything in her power to hide that fact, even as she shook with fury.  "Fuckin' pathetic, that's whatchu are." She sniffed, a soft dark sort of laugh as she dug her hole deeper.  "Ya'll jus' like playin' with people, pushin' em' to th'edge cause yer life is probably pretty fuckin' borin' otherwise.  That why yer so interested in messin' with me all th'time? Jealous? Jealous of everythin' I have? Jealous yah can't have me? forcin' me tuh kiss yah cause that's th'closest you'll ever get tuh someone like me?"  She boldy took a step closer, dropping her hands.  "Yer worthless. Yer life is bullshit, yer relationship is pitiful an you will always be a degenerate, lame ass cunt."  Her eyes narrowed, almost challenging her.  She knew she was likely about to get mocked, but in her mind it would only prove her point, and in the end she would at least feel good about throwing some insults at the other girl.

Lucy listened; gracious as it was to even offer such a courtesy, she did it anyway. The more time she allowed the tired insults to fly, the more time she got to take to find some sort of calmness. But the ink on her arms refused to remain stagnant, like the aggression could truly seep into tattoos on an ink manipulator's body.

Eyes widened at the swear that passed her lips. That she could still feel so classic was all kinds of hilarious. To raise a fair point, Lucy nodded her head to one side lightly. Never quite agreeing, but hardly willing to say no. The string needed to be pulled as it were. "I've kissed Sawyer Lynn too, y'know." Lucy started, nonchalantly as the information was. "Never fucked her, but if she's half as good a lay as she is a kisser, props to your lucky boyfrien-"

But before she could continue, her eyes widened. A hand unfurled from her hold - a half shrug for her girlfriend's roommate; "Unless he's an ex now." Regardless, she shook her head and crinkled her nose at the status of her relationship - and by proxy, the life she so assumed Lucy might want. "But you're totally right, I'd fucking love to switch lives with you. You got it all, babe."

Lucy acted as though the words didn't phase her, but Karalie wasn't convinced.  If anyone had spat venom at her she would have cared.  Then again, she wasn't a heartless bitch, so it was quite possible that Lucy wasn't affected.  She wondered if anything could affect her.  She braced herself, however, as the other girl began her retort, immediately bringing up the girl Luke had slept with.  She felt that pang of hurt and jealousy clamp around her heart, that familiar sick feeling in her stomach growing like a tumor whenever she thought about his infidelity.  Karalie tried to remain calm.  Lucy was saying it to get under her skin, saying it to try and hurt her, and though it was working she had to pretend like it wasn't.  A part of her died inside at the reminder, though.  

"I do have it all." She reiterated.  "B'cause I'm not uh slut.  I don' need tuh force myself ontuh someone or fuck with their minds in order tuh get their attention.  See, people notice me for all th'right reasons. Someone like you'll never have that b'cause you have no redeeming qualities." She plastered on that fake smile she'd gotten so accustomed to using.  

"I don' even think God likes ya'll."

Hilt firmly in her palm, Lucy felt the way the inked blade on her forearm cried for the desire to be free. As if she'd somehow find the means to physically pull it from her form and swing a defence against the daggers this girl was throwing with her eyes alone.

Did her words burn? How could they? There was little substance past the hurt in her eyes. And there was little from Lucy beyond the obvious aggression she felt. Blind to anything but red, really. But she still played the game; slinging insults wasn't the point, and it seemed like Penny's roommate was a little too dull in her shots to realise as such. "Right. You got it all. A broken, beaten to shit heartbreak over some fuck who couldn't keep it in his dacks long enough to not fuck the first hot thing that paid him the slightest amount of attention." A small nod for the notion. Like it was something more than a repetitive tactic. Because it was.

"And here's the best thing about it, y'know. It's that if you want someone to beat down and piss around with over something so fucking senseless, I'm standing right. Here. Toss every tired, shitty set of words about how fucked a person I am for all I give a fuck." There, she raised her eyebrows once. Hardly an empty series of threats given how rattled she'd made the retrocog with a simple kiss. "But you're gonna take the moral high road and - what? Piss all over the chick you live with because she'd rather fuck a girl than the gender that continuously fucks you over?"

Quickly, she raised her hand. The silent request that she not open her mouth to argue the difference in genders. Not now. Not when a point was to be made.

Not when Lucy Serrano wasn't done.

"I don't know what you got against it, but I've been in this for a bloody year. Some deluded fuck who can't see that I love her is not going to be the thing that ruins her." The poignant look in her counterpart's eyes remained, but as the Australian ran her tongue over her lower lip, she raised her eyebrows again. Not done. And hardly allowing any inflection in her tone to betray the serious connotations of her beliefs; "And I swear, if you keep this shit up I'll be so far up your ass I'll be screaming the word cunt up your throat until it actually sounds like something you'd bloody well say."

Lucy looked somewhat calm but she could see she was tense.  It didn't take a rocket scientist to see that much.  Karalie felt almost vindicated by it, knowing her words had hit home and it was difficult not to feel smug, that maybe she'd actually gotten through to the other girl.  Lucy wasn't done throwing her own set of insults though, all of which stung but she held her ground.  The breakup with Luke was the only ammunition she had on Karalie, and they both knew it.  Lucy knew she had no redeeming qualities, that she was a shitty human being.  She tried not to let the hurtful words get to her, something which was easier said than done, but Karalie stood her ground.  She wasn't going to lash out again physically, not after last time.  

When she brought up "pissing all over" Penelope, her brows suddenly furrowed.  What was she talking about? What had she done to Penelope, other than tell her to quit screwing around with her girlfriend in the common area? Did Lucy think she would care less if Penelope was riding some guy? She didn't want to see any of it! She had to look at Penelope everyday, she'd rather not know what the girl looked like in the throws of passion, especially when it was blasphemy.  

"What th'FUCK are you even talkin'bout?!" She suddenly snapped, raising her hands in the air.  "I don't give two flyin' shits about yer stupid girlfriend, I just want ya'll tuh knock it off with the nasty gay shit in the common area.  Yah think I like seein' that?" She suddenly scoffed, realizing Lucy thought everyone probably liked seeing that, deluded bitch.  "Cause I don't. An' don'chu go talkin' tuh me 'bout lovin' her.  Ya'll might think that touchin' an' kissin' is love, but I hear ya'll bickerin'. Like yer the fuckin' poster children for uh healthy relationship."  She scoffed, "Even if you weren'y fuckin' queer I wouldn't believe ya'll could ever love anyone butcherself."  She sniffed and shook her head.  Karalie folded her arms, her eyes barely moving away from Lucy to see if she had an easy way to pass her without the girl lashing out at her in the process.

If anyone knew just how damaging words could be, it was Lucy Serrano. They were her absolute speciality; it was why she didn't allow the physical onslaught Karalie attempted to provide encroach on her own mentality. As it stood, it always suited some a little better than others. But despite a standard, angered expression, the truest tells the ink manipulator provided were those only read by one person. Only by the person who knew where to look.

She wanted to laugh at the obvious ignorance. The exasperated chuckle billowed at the back of her throat, but she kept it down. For someone who slung such poisoned words, she certainly didn't seem to grasp that what was said was only half the encounter. And she still didn't get the point. Firing off insults like it made a difference. Like it elevated her status so far above the Australian.

The thing that broke that unpredictable laugh from her strength and allowed it to pass her lips was the inaccurate depiction of her relationship. A myriad of responses came to mind - how left-of-centre that way of thinking was. How within that, she'd already proven her inability to see her own faults. But the best course of action was what she took; to laugh.

"Bullshit." She finally replied, lighter tones from the humour impossible to deny, "Cause you see things, sweetheart. You live things, so I'm guessing you feel them too." Because Lucy was arguably armed with much more than information about a break up. Memory-based abilities were an experience learned by proxy; her psychometric counterpart herself claimed to feel the depth of Lucy's affection through a simple recollected memory. "Which means every time you get a little caught watching something you can't stop, I gotta guess you're starting to know exactly what's going on."

And there, a small, inquisitive tilt of her head to one side. "Scary, isn't it?" She asked. Notions of love. Notions of love between people of the same gender. Or perhaps even a glimpse at the lengths Lucy would go to to preserve that.

After all, it wasn't a particularly enjoyable kiss for either party.

She did see things.  She did live them, not that it was Lucy's business, but it depended completely on what she was living something through.  There weren't a lot of emotions attached to an inanimate object so when she glimpsed into anyone's world through, say, a doorknob, she saw it from the doorknobs perspective, the doorknobs memory of the situation.  Doorknobs didn't feel, and she wondered how different her ability was to Penelope's for Lucy to assume she got more from a memory.  People, on the other hand.. people were full of emotion, full of fear and anger and happiness.. it was overwhelming getting those memories.  

"Ya'll just keep on runnin' yer mouth like yah even have uh fuckin' clue what'cher talkin'bout." She scoffed, shaking her head afterwards.  "Like I said b'fore.  Pathetic."  She sniffed, this time truly done with the girl.  She moved to walk around Lucy, hoping the girl would just back off and let her leave.  The last thing she wanted was to get wrapped up in more arguing with someone who assumed they knew her or understood her ability or what she went through with it because she knew someone who had something similar, or worse, be on the receiving end of another unwanted kiss.

Without an ounce of negativity, Lucy allowed her to step past. She stared, momentarily, at the space where she had been. Pressure in her jaw. Teeth clenched. Eyebrows lowered as if - for the briefest of moments - the inability to be seen as a legitimate person with legitimate feelings really made her blood boil.

But as she turned on a heel, it was all gone.

A baseline understanding of powers was more than what most others had. Lucy got the run of the inside track - with what little information she'd been given, it was an assumption to draw the two abilities together. Then again, she didn't know what Karalie had.

She didn't even know her name.

"Good luck on the battlefront, Captain Hetero." Lucy said, raising her hand to her forehead to snap off a good salute to the greater roommate, "Remember; heartbreak doesn't define you. It's the gender you bang that makes you the most worthy!"
