Talia was taking it all in, and she would be lying if she said she wasn't impressed. There weren't many people here - she wasn't sure if that meant they were early, or if it was going to be a small crowd. Honestly both were good options.

Noticing the stage plus the hint from the bouncer gave her a decent guess at waht was going on, but that still left so much open to possibility. So she focused on the atmosphere. There were small tables as well as a bar and open space in front of the stage. It was a nice variety and seemed very promising.

Then he spoke, teasing her a little too. "Please, I'm not that dense, thank you!" she protested, nudging him lightly. "Obviously it's some sort of performance... A concert maybe?" she guessed, her voice sounding a little uncertain by the end. Of course, even guessing that, it didn't narrow it down much. After all, a concert could be any genre of music which made for a lot of options.

"So are you going to tell me anything more specific or do I have to just wait and see?"

Her brown eyes were bright and a small smile was on her lips. The night had only just begun and she was already having a great time. She glanced around the room once more. "Also, I think we're early, so what do you want to do while we wait for the show to start?" For once, she was actually enjoying following someone else's lead.

Talia had a bit of a bite to her words that Xavier found to be a mixture of amusing and admirable; the fact that she wasn't afraid to quip at him for whatever reason was a reassuring sight that gave promise towards what would come of their interactions. Xavier kept the ideas to a minimum, because as it were, they had only truly met a few days prior. Anything could happen, but maybe that was the best thing about it all.

"Oh look at you being all smart," The eldest soul responded with a chuckle, offering a single tilt of his head towards the bar. "How about we get a few drinks to get the night started." Because alcohol was always a good way to start off the night. There was also the fact that it would give him enough time to sober up before the end of the show.

He had yet to figure her preferences, as would be expected, and so there was no reason for him to take the reigns and get her something. He would pay, of course, but Talia was a big girl. "It's on me. Anything you want." No, Xavier was not being suggestive in any way like it probably could have been interpreted. There was no raise of the brow, nor was there a curl of his lip as he said it.

"I really hope you like supporting local bands."

Talia wrinkled her nose at him as he teased her for being 'all smart' as he put it. "Yes, I've been known to do that on occasion," she teased back with a chuckle. She liked that they could tease each other and banter back and forth. It was promising. They hadn't spent much time together yet, but so far she had fun with him, and that was important. Of course, who knew what might come of this.

Of course, wondering was half the fun.

"Drinks sound good," she agreed with a smile. If nothing else it would help loosen them up and get rid of any nerves that might be lingering before the real show started. Of course, it seemed that she was probably the only one with any butterflies at the moment, unless he was just really that good at hiding it. She smiled as he said she was welcome to get anything she wanted - on him. "I'll have a strawberry daiquiri. Vodka, not rum," she answered.

Her eyes lit up as he dropped another hint - though a rather telling one at that. "Seriously? That's awesome!" she exclaimed, practically bouncing as she glanced over at the stage. Tonight was shaping up to be very fun indeed.

"I knew there was something I liked about you," Xavier offered once before having his attention stolen briefly from another person making quick conversation. A hey and introduction later, to which Talia was brought in; both their drinks were handed to them in the middle, all the while more people joined in.

Annette, Henry, David, Lyonel, Rebecca -- and that was all he caught in terms of names before pulling himself away completely with Talia, moving towards the floor after the announcement was made that the concert was beginning. The setup had already been arranged while the group chatted up one another, and it was only until Xavier saw the band coming onto the stage.

It was a good time to note that the lineup consisted of five local bands playing four songs each. What they were, that was the fun of it.

"To be honest, I'm looking forward to listening to the original songs." Because it truly gave an insight into the talent of the small town of Pilot Ridge, and from working as a trainer and getting to know his students, Xavier knew there was plenty. It was just nice to see it first hand.

The first song, though, wasn't an original, but instead, a very familiar tune. The introduction of the band was brief, with name stating and then the cover song introduction. Nicotine by Panic! at the Disco. Interesting choice, if he had to say anything about it, but as the music started, he kept watch of Talia from the corner of his eye.

"They're good," He offered above the music, picking for a response in order to see if he had chosen well. But in all honesty, Xavier was quite sure he had.

"I should hope so!" she teased back even as his response elicited a laugh from her lips. Soon after they quickly were swept away in a wave of mingling, introductions and small talk. Of course, Talia was the sort who enjoyed those things.

Soon enough though, Xavier was pulling her away to the empty area in front of the stage after the announcement that the concert was about to begin. Her gaze turned to her date though as he spoke and she quickly nodded in agreement. "A good cover is entertaining, but the originals show you the true heart of the band," she said. Though music was a medium she had very little understanding of, she was always about appreciating the work of artists.

The music started then and her eyes widened as she began to recognize the opening riff. As the vocals started, a wide grin spread across her lips. She knew the song well - not to mention it had a great beat and energy to her. This close to the stage she could feel the music pulsing through her, energizing her almost.

His voice caught her attention and she turned towards him. "They really are!" she agreed, her delight clearly written on her face. She was having a fantastic time already and the night was still only just beginning.

Time Skip

Song by song passed, bands played both covers and originals, and Xavier felt pretty content with the way the night had progressed. There were quite a few kids in the bands, and by kids he meant in late teens to early twenties from what he had seen. It made him feel old, quite honestly, considering he was turning twenty nine in January. Holy hell, he remembered when he was in Highschool and trying to do what they were.

But all was over and the DJ had come out and took over, this time playing house music fit for some of the best clubs he had been to. But they danced and made small conversations that sounded a lot like consistent banter and flirting back and forth for quite a while. The few friends they made were coming up and pulling Xavier and Talia into their 'mosh pit'. It was fun, most definitely, but the night was coming to an end, but Xavier didn't want to end without getting a real moment alone with her.

"Come on," Xavier attempted to pull Talia's attention to him and the door, "Let's go out to the deck." It would quiet down, but there was also a fire pit, lit and all, in the middle of said deck. He didn't necessarily have anything to say specifically, but he figured it'd impress her somewhat that he actually wanted to talk.

His logic was priceless, to which he caught himself smiling at as he lead her to the glass double doors.

Talia wasn't quite sure what she had expected, but it certainly hadn't been this. The date had honestly exceeded all her expectations thus far. The music was incredible. First the bands and then the DJ. Talia didn't get out nearly as much as she used to, so it was refreshing to enjoy the music and dance - especially when she was with someone as fun as Xavier was turning out to be. Their flirtatious banter continued through the night and honestly, she was having a blast.

She looked over at him as he caught her attention, calling her out to the deck with him. Truth be told, much as she was enjoying both the dancing and the music, a little quiet would be appreciated right about then. Of course, getting away from the crowd and getting a little one on one time wasn't anything to complain about either. She nodded her agreement, following him out onto the deck.

It was a bit chilly really, but it felt nice on her skin since she was feeling a bit flushed. She breathed in deeply, before turning towards Xavier, a smile on her lips.

It was quite difficult to keep his eyes off of her, the way her smile was consistent throughout the whole night and the way her body kept moving to the music. It wasn't a feeling he was accustomed to - being so entranced by another human being, that is - but it was one he was openly embracing. After all, the whole idea of this get together was, in fact, a date.

"Figured it'd be a good thing to grab some fresh air." Xavier offered a cool expression despite the way his lips curled up slightly from the smile he was hiding. Content, most definitely, was the way he would describe himself. There was even a moment where he had forgotten Jaxon. Just a brief moment. But when he reminded himself, he couldn't help but feel like a complete dick. "Let's get the best seats before we're followed out here."

The eldest soul moved towards the benches beside the fire pit, assuming she would follow in suit. "That and I thought a one-on-one would be a good thing right about now. Hope I wasn't wrong."

Talia had hardly been able to stop grinning all night. She hoped that Xavier was enjoying himself as much as she was - it was hard to tell sometimes. He seemed to be having a good time, he just wasn't as obvious about it, she supposed. Of course, she always had been overly expressive. She just hoped he wasn't one of the people who found that to be an annoying trait.

"Yeah, definitely," she agreed. "Fresh air was exactly what I needed right now." Should she have said that? Was she talking too much? No, she was probably worrying too much if anything. That was so unlike her too... of course, she was ridiculously out of practice when it came to dating, so hopefully that was the reason for her jitters. "Sounds like a good idea," she added with a smile as he suggested getting the best seats while they were available.

She followed his lead, sitting beside him on one of the fire side benches. She glanced away for a moment, laughing softly before responding. "You definitely weren't wrong." She was having a great time so far. Somehow he had managed to arrange an epic evening, which only left her wanting to get to know him more. Talia angled her body towards him so it was a bit easier for her to look at him, a warm smile on her face as she did so. "A little one on one would be perfect right about now."

His motives for bringing her outside weren't completely selfish, either. A few of the men who had a bit to drink were beginning to get adventurous with their gazes and actually started to break the space for certain women. What Talia didn't know was that he also used the time to get away and text Jason of the issues present. Twenty people may have not been too much, but it was to be better safe than sorry.

"Dancing was fun, but I think the whole point of a 'date' is to actually get some of that alone time under the sleeve." He couldn't help but find the way she looked away from him as she laughed to be a bit endearing and incredibly cute. That in itself pulled his lips up to a legitimate smile and not the relatively placid expression it was just a short while earlier.

Xavier also wasn't one for much small talk, as it so happened, and so he wanted for the conversation to be more meaningful and engaging. "You know," He started, feeling it was probably the most appropriate to say at the time, "I may have just won the lottery tonight." And to only add to the cheesiness, Xavier slipped off his coat and placed it over her shoulders without a second thought, much like he'd seen his father do for his mother a thousand times. That was what a true gentleman did, his father would say. "After all, the most intriguing woman in that entire building is sitting beside me tonight."

Her grin widened slightly at his comment, even as she nodded along with the sentiment. "I think you are absolutely correct about that," she said. Her head dipped low for a moment as another soft laugh - with a hint of nerves - fell from her lips. As she glanced up though, she saw the smile he wore and blushed a little at the thought that it was her that made him smile. His smiles seemed rare which only made it matter all the more.

Now, normally Talia wasn't the sort to get self conscious. She had confidence to spare really. Yet the compliment that Xavier spun just then had her blushing all the more and feeling a bit starstruck. Of course, the casual way he draped his coat over her shoulder only enhanced that giddy feeling. More than that though, she had a feeling that it had more to do with the man who had said the words than the words themselves.

She wrapped the coat around her tighter, soaking up the warmth it offered as she searched for an appropriate response. She wasn't sure she could recall another time she had been struck so speechless - it was rare to say the least given just how talkative she was. "Well, I think the odds must have been in our favor then," she started, her voice softer than normal. "After all, it must be pretty much a miracle for two people to win the lottery in the same night," she continued with a charming smile.

It wasn't as though his smiles were rare, but it was the fact that he was unsure of when it would be appropriate to offer them. Xavier was not an expert with women, and while he may have been the more outgoing of the two souls, the social norms still eluded him at times. However, the blush that he received from offering the smile made it worth giving it again.

"There's no thought needed for that," It was a simple phrase, one that was meant to insinuate that it was a given. He may have been incredibly stupid with all the corny remarks that he was throwing around, but given her reaction to each line, he figured this would elicit the same reaction.

However, the way her voice dropped even lower had him focusing more on her lips than originally intended, and even when it was his turn to speak, he found it hard to look away. Xavier did, in the end, and when he had, they returned to her eyes, to which he noticed then were a more hazel-esque brown rather than the green that they had originally appeared to be that night. "Oh yeah?" He offered then, voice lowered as well. "You sure it was just a miracle, Talia?"

His words made her smile again - as always it seemed - and she had to agree with them. There was a certain degree of effortlessness between them, even despite the nerves that came with the circumstances. Regardless of the myriad of butterflies that seemed to have occupied her stomach, she didn't feel like she had to try so hard when she was with him.

There was a pause after she spoke - just long enough for her to wonder if she had been too forward or made some other dating faux pas - but then his gaze caught hers and any worries she might have had just slipped away. The way he was looking at her, the low tone of his voice, the way he said her name... the combination of it all had her blushing, quite blatantly in fact. She found herself fidgeting, gently tugging his coat to wrap tighter around her body, not so much to ward off the chilled air as it was to relish the comfort it offered.

Her lips parted slightly to answer, yet no words came out. She chuckled nervously, looking down as she tried to find the words. The motion caused her hair to fall forward and it stayed in her face even as she looked back up at him. She could think of a few answers, but in the end couldn't decide which would be the most appropriate in the situation. Instead, she leaned forward slightly, her hazel eyes fixed on him. "Perhaps not... What would you call it then?"

Simply speaking, Xavier was entranced. It was an odd feeling having just the single gaze of a woman pull him in so quickly; the reason behind it may have been because of alcohol like he wanted to believe, but there could have been the fact that there was something more about her that had him intrigued.

Her face flushed even further and her head fell and Xavier used that opportunity to brush the hair fallen in her face away, his thumb gently brushing against her forehead as he tucked the hair back. A bucket of cliches that he kept pulling from, but each one he found that she enjoyed. Maybe she was a typical romantic? It would seem that way, but then again, Xavier wasn't complaining.

And then she leaned forward, to which his gaze returned to her classic red lips, ones that pulled him closer. As he spoke, his tongue traced against his lower lip briefly, "We'll see."

Her breath caught in her throat as his thumb lightly brushed her skin, tucking her hair back from her face. It was a cliche right out of every rom com she'd ever seen, but in this moment, it seemed like it was a classic move for a reason.

When he spoke, it wasn't so much his words that affected her as it was the way his tongue traced his lower lip. That small gesture was so utterly captivating, that for a moment she could only focus on his lips. Her heart was racing, pounding in her ears as her eyes moved up to meet his.

It was almost as though there was a magnetic force between them, pulling them closer. She knew it was coming. She could feel it in the air, see it in the way he moved... He was going to kiss her and she couldn't be more thrilled. Such a classic moment and she couldn't think of a way to make it more perfect.

"Hey you!" called out an unfamiliar voice.

Spell broken.

Their gaze shifted from each other to the source of the voice. Some drunken man was stumbling out onto the deck, moving towards them. "Yeah, you! Look wha' I did," he slurred before promptly collapsing on the ground.

Well fuck. That was disappointing.
