[Kaiser Reed]

Kaiser wasn't really sure why he had to go to this guys office…he was a doctor or something. He supposed he just wanted to make sure his first few days were going well? Who knew, Kaiser just knew he needed to be there. The boy left his dorm room, not dressed up in anything too fancy. He was only wearing jeans, a pair of beaten up tennis shoes, a white undershirt, and a yellow hoodie. The boy could normally be found wearing something yellow…being that it was his favorite color. He'd always been drawn to it, ever since he was a kid. It made him smile a bit whenever he thought of his favorite color and his power, it seemed like things just matched up some times.

The boy brushed a hand through his hair, trying to get it under control. "Alright…" Kaiser said, trying to get himself ready for whatever was about to happen. He was sure he wasn't in trouble, at least he hoped not. He hadn't been here long enough to get in trouble!

He reached the doctor's door and knocked a few times. "Um…hello? It's Kaiser Reed…I…uh…was told to come see you…"

Sean did not envy the recruiters their jobs, given how chaotic finding new students and bringing them back to Hammel could be. Recruitment was the one area of the school that operated outside of the typical schedule. After all, an individual meta-human had no control over when he or she manifested their abilities, and thus the recruiters had no control over when new students found themselves at Hammel. As a result, the school operated on the basis of rolling enrollment; students began classes and settled in whenever they first arrived, shortly after whenever they first manifested.

Even if that occurred right before winter recess.

The fact that the winter break period was nearly upon them meant that teachers had to wind down their lessons and write and conduct final exams. It meant that administrative members had to go about their tasks before the school ended for the term (although it remained open for anyone who either chose not to go home, was not welcome home, or did not have a home to which to return in the first place). It meant that Sean had to make sure that students had enough medication and skills to cope with the recess. It also meant that he had to conduct introductory meetings on a truncated schedule.

He had been sure that Kaiser met with him almost immediately, given the contents of his file. The psychiatrist did not want winter recess to begin before making a connection with the boy.

As such, he looked up immediately upon hearing a knock and then the boy’s introduction. “Yes, Kaiser, please come in. You can sit anywhere you’d like.”

Be it one of the chairs in front of his desk or one of the arm chairs, or the sofa, at the opposite end of his office. He would move to accommodate the boy’s choice.

Kaiser did what the man said, walking through the doorway. He looked towards Sean and then towards the chair in front of his desk. The boy nodded and quietly moved to the chair and took a seat. It was more than obvious that he was uncomfortable, but Kaiser couldn't give a reason as to why he was. Maybe it was because the older man's presence was a bit intimidating...or that he was wary around men these days...or quite possibly he was just confused as to why he was here. In truth, it was all three.

"Um..." The boy said as he tugged at the bottom of his hoodie. "Can...can I ask why I'm here? I'm n-not in trouble am I?"

Sean waited for Kaiser to seat himself and get as comfortable as he could (which was possibly a tall order), before he gave his introduction. However, the boy beat him to that, by asking his question first.

“No, you’re not in trouble,” the psychiatrist quickly reassured the boy. To his knowledge, Kaiser had done nothing that warranted any disciplinary action, and so he had no reason to worry about a lecture or detention. Of course, he knew that, due to Kaiser’s background, he had reason to fear being summoned by a large man in his father’s age range (or older) to a room alone. That had been the reason that Sean had summoned the boy in the first place.

He would simply have to demonstrate quickly that he was not a threat, and that there was no reason to fear him. The psychiatrist had never wanted to be feared. Respected, of course, liked when possible, but never feared.

“I wanted to have a check in with you, since you’re new to Hammel.” Kaiser had only recently manifested, and Hammel (and Pilot Ridge by extension) were new experiences for him. “To see how you were doing and to answer any questions you might have but haven’t been able to ask yet.”
