TRIGGER WARNING: Hints at physical and sexual child abuse
The Basics
Name: Glads Thompson
Nicknames: Sug' (pronounced like the first part of "Sugar" and it's mostly from his mom)
Age: 17
Orientation: Pansexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Electrokinesis
With this, Glads can produce something akin to small lightening bolts from his finger tips. These range in various sizes and lengths, usually no longer than 3 to 4 feet out, and the biggest thickness being at around 3 inches. They act just like any electrical spark would, and tend to go where they want. Which means they are attracted to metal and the ground. He can direct them towards something, but it's not super accurate. Though, he still manages to hit whatever it is he points at, just may not be exactly where he wanted to hit it. Also, he can't use the power for to long or often. The longest he can hold a bolt is about 3 minutes. This is because it uses his bodies energy to produce the heat, and the energy in the air to fully produce the shock. It's also possible for Glads to shock himself if he isn't careful, and has several times. Rubber is of course a deterrent to his power, gloves being the main source of this. If he has rubber gloves on, he can not use his power. Well, he can, but it will only bounce around inside the gloves and shock him. Other than this, the drawbacks include dizzy spells, feeling cold, having a bit more static charge than most, and occasionally shorting out electronics and blowing light bulbs.

Any Tattoos? 3, one on his right wrist and one on that bicep, then another on his left forearm
Any Scars? Several, mostly around his arms and legs from being pulled and tugged. He does have one burn mark above his left wrist from when his ability kicked in.
General Appearance: Glads is a very beautiful person, at least that's what he's been told his whole life. Standing at 5'6" tall, with his body having a slim but toned build to it. The youth sometimes appears older than he is, because he carries himself more like an adult. His hair is a mop of curly, dirty-blonde hair. His skin has that warm hue that some people from the south tend to have and his eyes are a bright almost seafoam green, shade of blue. Obviously he gets a lot of his looks from his mother, and as such, tends to have similar taste in clothing as she does.
Though he does identify with being gender-fluid, he rarely fully dresses as such. But his wardrobe does have both masculine and feminine clothing. His more masculine clothes consist of jeans and tshirts, and a few trucker caps, though he sometimes pretends they are not his. The more "girly" side of his closet has things such as poet shirts and peasant blouses, which are usually paired with some type of cut off jean shorts or some form of very tight jeans. His colors of choice also vary, he either likes dark jewel tones, or soft pastels. His favorite color being peach. As far as shoes go, he tends to wear boots or sneakers. Little side note, he likes to wear an essential oil made from peaches, so he always smells a bit like that.
Personality:
First and foremost, Glads is a momma's boy. Now, that may sound like a bad thing, but to him it really isn't. To be honest, he's the parent in the situation. Reminding Angie to pay her bills on time, giving her advice on what she should wear to different things, and of course...judging every guy she dates with a microscope. That being said, he's actually a very outgoing and friendly sort of person, so even though he does judge these men, he knows his mother deserves to be happy. And that is his main focus. Now even though he puts on his 'happy face" around his momma, Glads does have some issues.
Mostly severe trust issues. The only person he fully trusts is Angie, and though he has several people he considers friends, he takes what they say and do with a grain of salt. He also gets a bit annoyed when people make assumptions about him. Just because he is pansexual does NOT mean he'll sleep with anyone. In fact, that, is something not even remotely important to him. Neither is love really. The thought of falling in love actually terrifies him, he saw what being in love can do to people. Granted it was a twisted view, but still, it's what he saw. The guy is also not the biggest fan of rich people, for slightly obvious reasons.

History
Ah, Georgia, the sweet south. So calm and peaceful, a paradise for a growing child. Honestly, not really how Glads remembers it. From the time he can remember there he was treated poorly and talked down to. Only behind closed doors of course. In public, he was treated like the beautiful little prince that he was. Or at least the way he should have been and was when his Momma was around. Growing up all Glads really understood about his momma, was that she was something special and had to go a special school up north. It seemed like something out of a fairytale to him. So, whenever Angie was home, the boy never spoke of how cruel Gerry was to him. She had enough to worry about herself. Besides, Gerry never hurt him enough for anyone to really notice.
No, the only scars he ever got that were noticeable were ones that were easily explained away. Mostly because these came from children he was around. A lot of them were fairly horrible to Glads, especially the boys. They would push him around and call him names like "sissy". Growing up, he never really understood why people did this too him, though when was with his momma, she would tell him they were just jealous of how beautiful he was. She always knew the right thing to say to him to make him feel better about anything that was going on. Which is why telling her about his sexuality at a young age was easy. Even when he finally got the courage to ask her how Gerry treated her. She managed to convince him not to worry about it. Oh, of course he still did, even more so when the woman that Gerry had married started being cruel to his momma.
He honestly didn't know how to handle this, but one of the more kindly people employed at the Burgess' estate told him that it would be better for him and Angie if he just ignored. Which he did for a long, long time. It got harder to do, he heard his momma crying in her sleep. He would hear the way Gerry talked to her, even though she tried to keep it from him. Glads hated the man, and his wife even more. At least Gerry's treatment was in private, the stupid woman had to humiliate his mother in public. When Glads power suddenly appeared at 14, part of him wanted to use it on the woman, just to pay her pack. He didn't get the chance. The young man was swept off to Hammel rather quickly, within a week of manifesting, this of course was due to a few reasons.
One, his momma wanted him as far away from Gerry and that life as possible. Two, Gerry wanted him away as quickly as possibly and three - when he manifested, he had been washing dishes with rubber gloves on and managed to electrocute himself. Obviously, his power could have been a bit of a danger to himself and others. When he was away that year, all he did was think about his mom, even when he came home on long weekends and holidays. These little reunions were always ruined by that horrible woman. Glads was sick of her treating his mother so poorly, so one evening he confronted her. He was young and very naive, so when she propositioned him in exchanged for being kinder to his mother, he obliged.
Glads hated this, he hated her, but if it helped his momma, he'd do anything. Which of course gave the woman and even worse idea. To make money off this poor naive child. She set him up as dates for some of her friends (women and men) in exchange for money. Honestly, some of them weren't really that bad. Some actually just wanted company and someone to talk to. This, Glads could handle. It was the ones that demanded things, the ones that got aggressive, those he didn't like at all, and sadly that was the majority of them. This all was of course something else he couldn't tell his momma. He hated keeping secrets from her, but he knew that if he told, the woman may have them kicked out of the only home they had.
So, for two years he put up with this treatment when he was home and longed for the days when he could get back to Hammel and just be with friends and not worry about anything like that. Sometime after his 16th birthday, on a trip back home, Gerry walked in on Glads and the woman. Of course she tried to lie-saying that Glads had forced her.and Glads just didn't say anything. Gerry was mean, but not stupid. He knew Glads didn't force her, but he wasn't about to put up with this behavior. The woman of course told Gerry (in a desperate plea to make herself look better) that Glads was a "prostitute" for women and men. This was the last straw and the young man was practically thrown from the house and told never to return.
If it wasn't for his mother, Glads wouldn't have minded this so much. At least he wouldn't have to do things he didn't want to anymore, and he could be himself. All his friends at Hammel tried to be supportive and do as much for him as they could, but they had no idea what had happened and he was far to worried about Angie. The boy thought of calling the cops about what had happened to him in hopes of getting his momma away, but Gerry had threatened that if he started a scandal, his mother would be the one to pay for it, so he had to stay quiet. For almost a year, Glads worried himself sick over his mother, when one day she showed up. It was a happy time of course, but Glads knew she had stolen the money from Gerry.
It didn't really matter of course, they were together. It didn't take them long to settle into a somewhat typical mother/son situation, and that's where they are today. Glads has to remind her to pay bills, of appointments she has, and attempt to keep her from dating total losers. That last one seems like a never ending job. He does want his mom to be happy, which is why he doesn't want her to fall in with anyone like Gerry again. Glads is so wrapped um in his happy new life, he doesn't think about his own personal life much. In fact, the thought of falling in love scares him, so he doesn't bother. He has his friends at Hammel, and his mother. That's good enough for him. In fact, he adores Hammel. The entire time he's been there, it's always felt like a safe place and it's been easy to make friends with students and teachers alike.
Plus, he really enjoys learning to use his power properly along with the few clubs and such that he's in. Of course, he lives with his mom in Pilot Ridge now, but that doesn't stop him from making contributions to his school. He's even decided to join the cheerleading squad this year, it just seems like a challenge and one that might be fun.
