The BasicsName: Maxwell Esposito
Nicknames: Max, Maxxy (Mom and sister ONLY), Waldo (stemming from the fact that he'll disappear for long periods of time)
Age: 16
Orientation: Bisexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Enhanced Hearing: Max can hear sounds out of the range of normal human perception. This includes sounds of extremely low and extremely high frequencies. Additionally, Max can hear sounds from further away than an average humans. The distance he can hear from depends on a variety of factors such as the volume of the sound, the pitch of the sound (higher sounds are easier to hear from a distance) as well as how much stuff is between Max and the source of the sound. In other words, Max may be able to hear a whisper from the other side of the classroom, but he can't hear a whisper from the basement. He can hear a high pitched scream from multiple city blocks away, however. This power causes headaches and extreme disorientation when used in excess. Loud sounds tend to cause dizziness and sometimes nausea do to the extreme sensitivity of the inner ear (even with the power). Max can additionally lose ALL hearing for short periods of time due to overuse of his power, or if someone screams too close to him causing his system to "overload" in a sense.

Any Scars? plenty - most notably a scar on his forearm from a time he re-injured his arm while it was healing from a break.
General Appearance: Max is a handsome kid who doesn't put any effort into looking clean or orderly. While the boy cleans up VERY nicely (usually at the request of his mother), he much prefers old baggy clothing, messy hair, and untrimmed facial hair. His style revolves around whatever is easiest to throw on in the morning. He doesn't care to try and look any one particular way. He's often donning hand-me down clothes from his older brothers. His brown hair is often covered with various hats, or sticking out in various directions. When he does brush his hair, it's sleek and perfectly parted - though he only does so for family events or at his mother's request. Max is tall (6'2") and a bit lanky. His weight fluctuates a lot, partly due to his varying appetite and partly depending on how much food is in his kitchen at a given time.
Personality: Max, for lack of a better word, is a gloomy kid. He believes he was given a shit hand in life and doesn't see the point in trying to pretend otherwise. He puts little to no effort into the things he doesn't find 'essential', because frankly they're a waste of time. Max does have good intentions when it comes to the one thing he finds important - his family. Although he is the youngest Esposito boy, he feels a responsibility to do what he can to keep his family safe.
Max is very careful with money, almost obsessively so. Max won't spend a dime unless he absolutely has to. Everything he makes from his job goes to his mom. While he has had problems with smoking and drugs, he hasn't become addicted, if only because he doesn't want to spend the money. He'll accept freebees from "friends" and coworkers or whoever else offers, but the only investment Max has made to fuel his addiction is his lighter.
Max is incredibly smart, but equally if not more unmotivated. He doesn't do his homework or projects. He doesn't study when there's a test coming up. However, to teacher's dismay, the boy does incredibly well on his tests and quizzes. He has been accused of cheating on multiple occasions, and has even gotten detention for it. He doesn't cheat, but also doesn't particularly care when he gets in trouble for it.
Max likes to take long walks to nowhere in particular - he's done so since he was a boy. Growing up with 6 older brother's he has felt invisible. He used to take the walks to see if anyone ever noticed he was gone. Now he takes them for the same reason he'll take drugs or smoke - to get away from the reality he hates. He believes he was cheated out of a real childhood.
Max hates pretentious individuals as well as those who flaunt their wealth. He generally deals with other people by ignoring them completely, but if someone ever says something about him or his family that pushes the wrong button, the boy will snap. He’s gotten into fights in his hometown with the wealthy kids who live in the ‘good’ neighborhoods. He’s gotten into fights with kids at hammel who dare say something about his family – whom they don’t even know (things along the lines of ‘you must have been raised by *insert insult here* or any form of a 'your mom' joke.). He’s not afraid to get hurt by anyone or anything because he doesn't believe there's much more pain than what he's experienced in his life so far.Your VicesLikes: smoking, jazz and blues, skateboarding, getting lost, climbing things

The Espositos lived in a three story town home in Oak Park California. Oak Park was strange, as over the years it was split into two smaller communities - East Oak, littered with McMansions and high end shopping facilities, and West Oak, a crime plagued region stuffed to the brim with dilapidated town homes and less-than-stellar public schooling facilities. Max and his family resided in West Oak Park, but they were lucky enough to have settled on one of the safer streets and in one of the larger, newer town homes. Max never really thought much of the fact that he was poor - as a kid it didn't even register with him. But things changed drastically when he was seven.
A large portion of the family's income came from Michael Esposito's work as a Pharmacist. While most pharmacists made great money, Michael often volunteered to work extra for no pay (due to the high demand in the area), and had a family with 7 children to support. He made it work though, along with the help of his wife's tailoring and clothing construction from home. Michael fell ill, though. When he finally ruled out every possibility of flu, cold, or stomach bug, Michael went to Oak Park Hospital where he was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer. He would die only three months later.
Watching his father suffer was one of the hardest things Max ever had to do. The family did not have enough money to keep Michael comfortable in the hospital, and after just a week of expensive treatment, the man decided it was best for his family if he went home. Elena started working as a maid for East Oak homes, and all of the older boys got jobs. Max wasn't old enough, and took care of his dad with his sister Reese until he passed in his sleep.
Since then, Max had been extremely bitter about how unfair life seemed to be. He didn't understand why his dad had to be taken away because they couldn't afford to keep them in the hospital, when there were plenty of people in East Oak who had enough money to pay his mother to clean their toilets. It didn't seem fair. The boy became dark and bitter. He started picking fights with kids at school who made fun of his mom for being a maid. He wandered into East Oak to pinch people's wallets and watches when they weren't looking - leaving the money in anonymous envelopes in their mailbox.
When Elena finally made enough money to open her tailor shop, Max and Reese were made to help as much as possible. In the beginning they lived day to day off of whatever the woman could make from her tailoring services. Now, her business is very well known, and everyone in West Oak (and sometimes from East Oak) come to their home to get clothing altered by Elena. They're still struggling though, which makes Max even angrier because god does he hate sewing.
Max got involved with tobacco for the first time at thirteen, and started experimenting with drugs shortly thereafter. He never bought his own, however, and simply relied on friends or friends of friends to offer him the 'escape'. He nearly always gladly took it. His brother had also become a dealer at this point, which validated Max's actions in his head.
When max was 14, he took some prescription meds with his friend Eli who had stole the pills from his grandmother. Suddenly, Max started to hear things, things he'd never notice before. The planes overhead seemed louder and the people down below them seemed to be screaming. He could hear his mom cooking dinner in the kitchen all the way from the roof, and he could swear he could hear his sister playing with her friend across the street clear as day. At first, Max just thought he was experiencing a high like he'd never reached before. A Hammel recruiter showed up two days later to explain otherwise.
Max is now 16 and just as unmotivated to do his work as he was in Oak Park. He works part time as a busboy at the diner and sends his extra money to his mom. He is failing a lot of his classes because he refuses to do his homework. Sometimes he skips class to go to work or wander around and escape all the noises.Roleplay ExampleSee Eloise EatonWhat About You?Name: Emily
