Even the angry help(Trapper)

Louis sighed as he walked away from his final class of the day. He hadn't been able to understand anything his professor had discussed, something that had applied to almost all of his classes. The last six months he had at college had been tougher than the previous twelve of high school combined, and from what he had heard the next three and a half years were just going to get harder. With this fact hanging over his head he had acquired a dreary feeling on the rest of his current situation, and on a few of his friends’ too.

This feeling continued to flow through him, his powers amplifying it, while he walked through the campus grounds towards his car in the parking lot. He had no time to deal with other people right now and he just wanted to head for his apartment to recuperate before getting some help. On the way there he had the rather unfortunate luck to run into a person who had dropped a complete workload for their day, and while he was frustrated and annoyed his inner instinct for helping people had caused him to give a helping hand as he bent down to assist the person, gathering up some papers, he could now see that the person was a girl and a slightly familiar one at that, though he couldn't place where.

Trapper was beginning to think that someone had cursed her that day. Anything that could go wrong did. From waking up late, making her late for class, forgetting two class assignments at the apartment and when she went home to get them, she ran out of gas and then she noticed she didn’t have her purse, meaning she didn’t have anyway to pay for more gas. About the only thing that was good, was the Triple A guy was nice enough to bring her to get her purse, but of course she was charged for the mileage! Once back at school things didn’t seem to get better. She had spilled her soda in one of her classes and it caused quite a stir in the class. With all of what was going on, Trapper felt a migraine forming and quickly took a double dose of Advil. Sadly, it didn’t help, instead she got sick and the thought of going back to her apartment seemed cretin. Trapper though stuck it out for the rest of the day.

The last class of the day was one that she enjoyed but today because she didn’t feel well, she still struggled to make it though the class. Of course her bad luck would still follow her after classes got out. As she was making her way to her car, a breeze sent dust into her eyes. As she was trying to clear the dust by blinking quickly. She did this because her hands were full with her class books and things. Of course because she was blinking she wasn’t paying to much attention to where she was walking and walked right into another student! All of her things went flying all over the place. Trapper stood there for a moment, it looked like she would bust out crying. Instead she leaned over as the male student was already picking her things up from the sidewalk. “Thank you so much for your help, I am so sorry for crashing into you!” Trapper told the young man.

Trapper was rather embarrassed that she crashed into the other student, yet the way her day went it was just that ’Murphy’s law’ working over time. She gathered her things and then stood looking at the young man before her. He was cute with a clean look and short dirty blonde hair, his eyes were like a blue that could hypnotize someone.

Trapper thanked the young man before and held out her hand for him to shake. “I’m Trapper, Trapper Petano, but you can call me TJ if you like.”

Louis only gave a quick nod of acknowledgement as he looked up at the girl, his anger and frustration weren't subsiding as he continued picking up the girl’s belongings, but they were now receiving company in feelings of pity and guilt. He could sense how terrible the girl was feeling after bumping into him and thought that it was his fault for how bad she felt, causing him to try and gather more of her things quicker.

After he had finished helping the blonde Louis stood back up and looked down at her as she introduced herself, keeping a relatively blank face as she spoke, with only a hint of a smile on it. After she finished speaking Louis took the hand she had given him and shook it firmly as he spoke, unable to keep his annoyance out of his voice, “My name is Louis Scott, I just ask you don't call me Louie TJ, or else I'll start calling myself the king of France.” Even with how angry his thoughts and actions had left him at the end of the day Louis couldn't help but make a joke that people loved to make of his name. Though he was feeling less angry the more he could feel Trapper's embarrassment, allowing some guilty amusement to cool him off slightly.

This day for Trapper was like a horror movie, one after another something went wrong. It was wearing her down and she hated not being able to control the environment around her. From waking up late to running out of gas anyone would blow their top and Trapper was so close to that when she had crashed into another student. Great way to end the day, right?

The young man took her hand with a firm but kind grip introducing himself as Louis Scott making a joke not to call him Louie. For the first time that day, Trapper laughed.
Her mood cheered up abit and a smile could clearly be seen on her face, there was even a twinkle in her eyes, as the sun shone down on them.

Trapped joked back “Well I promise not to call you Louie as long as you promise not to call me late for dinner!” she said with a slight laugh to it. She had looked at her watch and then remembered she was going swimming at the pool. “Walk with me please, I have a swim class and don’t want to be late for it.” She said as she again gestured with her hand as she spoke.

Trapper tried to go swimming everyday to keep fit and practice her Synchronized Swimming. Because Vermont didn’t have any teams, she would swim completive with Smith College in Mass, which was over three hour drive, so she only went once a month and worked on a solo and figures. She would love to find another person who loved Synchro like she did and they could do a duet. Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers.

“So I hope you don’t mind me asking what classes your in, you look very familiar.” Trapper asked Louis with a confidence tone of voice.

Louis felt the hidden smile on his face grow into a fully noticeable one as he heard the girl laugh and felt her emotional state swing towards, if every so slightly, a happier one. He also had to admit she looked pretty cute, but quickly shoved those ideas away as he thought how Serena might react to them. Louis couldn't see what in the blonde’s words was funny, but laughed along with her anyway and was about to speak when TJ asked him to come with her. He wondered why she would want some guy she had met out of the blue to meet, but decided to agree, “Sure I'll come with you.” He was about to start walking with the familiar looking blonde when she asked about him, sensing some of the confidence she had begun to speak with. He felt a little better that he wasn't the only one to have recognized the other, if only vaguely, and responded in kind, “I'm taking some classes for a civil engineering degree, so I don't know if we would've met before, but you look sort of familiar too, thought I was the only one feeling a sense of deja vu.” He added the last part under his breath in more of a personal aside.

Trapper only wanted to put the bad day behind her and even though meeting this familiar student, even though she was at a loss to remember his name at the moment. Trapper silently sighed as she walked towards the pool. Trapper was hopping that her bad day would end on a good note with a good swim.

She stopped for a moment and took a really good look at him as he spoke to her. He explained he was taking civil engineering classes for his degree. He couldn’t place where he has saw Trapper abut felt kinda of like some déjà vu. Then it dawned on her that he was in one of the advanced math classes. “You’re in calculus, aren’t you?” Trapper asked him as she started to walk again. “I hate math, but I have to take it, however anytime I can use a calculator, I will!” Trapper told Louis.

Louis walked along with Trapper, fulfilling her request for company till she spoke about where she recognized him. He let a small snort of amusement out at the blonde’s mention on how she feels about math classes, he felt the same about them as well a nod decided to tell her in an amused tone, “Yeah, I have calculus and I think I'm beginning to remember you a little more, and trust me it sucks when you get a teacher that says you have to do all the math by yourself, I've got two of ‘em.” It was a sad fact of his degree plan he needed to get an extra math credit and he had gotten the unlucky draw of the professors. After they walked along for a moments, Louis looked over at his classmate and asked, “So, what's your major?”

How does one cram in all their collage courses and throw in some exercise, parties, going out with friends and other non scene into one life, not to mention squish it all in neat twenty four periods with a dash of freak out time if you go over any one period? Yep. That was Trapper’s life was from what it looked like to the outsider. Though she had other internal battles that she fought at the same time fighting for straight A’s and as close to a 4.0 grade point that she could.

Her steps quickened as she took a quick glace at her watch, she sighed as she knew for sure she was going to be late for swim practice, again. It seemed she was starting a habit of being late for the one thing she loved the most. Louis talked about their calculus class and then asked her majors.

Trapper sighed again as she walked closer to the pool. “Right now I am undecided, but I would like to work in forensic science.” Trapper told him as she reached the pool building. “Your welcomed to come watch, maybe we can get some ice cream after practice?” She said opening the door and then holding it for Louis to enter.

Louis matched the blonde step for step as she started walking faster, noticing how she started feeling exasperated and how she was checking her watch. Louis raised his eyebrows as Trapper mentioned wanting to have a job in forensics, saying the second half with a little bit of sarcasm, “That sounds pretty interesting. Any reason why you want to go digging through mud and dead bodies besides for the hell of it?” Louis smiled with a bit of a confused look on his face as his classmate invited him to watch her in a class that would most likely leave him just getting embarrassed as he looked at everyone in their swimsuits. Still, he decided that it wouldn't be a bad idea to attend, he wasn't involved in any activities on campus and he could maybe find something to do at the building. “Sure, I'll come along. I, uh, just hope you and your teammates don't mind me being there.” Louis spoke in a bit of an hesitant voice as he walked inside, stopping just inside the door to wait for Trapper to walk with him.
