Interview? But Coffee First.

Annalyse couldn't believe it when her parent's had told her that she would need to rent out a room in their overly large house near the lake. It wasn't so much she disagreed it was more they had posted the listing on their own. She still wasn't sure how her father had figured out the computer well enough to do it.

Smiling down at her very large coffee she glanced at her watch. She was supposed to meet one of the potential roommates today. She had meet a few in the past weeks but none of them really fit. One sized her up and down and continued to flirt to the point where it became obnoxious. One looked like she hadn't showered in about three days, and finally the last one she had interviewed had asked to go out on a smoke break.

Needless to say her parent's didn't want a smoker in the house.

Instead she was supposed to meet someone named Caleb Xue. The name sounded familiar, but she couldn't really place it. No matter how much she tried to remember the name, it really wasn't clicking. She just supposed she would have to wait to meet the fellow.

She smiled as someone walked up to her table. "Hello, Caleb?"

Caleb stopped to look at his reflection in a window. He combed his fingers through his hair. An interview was an interview. He had responded to renting a room ad. And he wanted to leave a good impression on his possible landlord and his family. Caleb adjusted his blazer and checked his breath. He was ready.

Caleb opened the door to Velvet-Tone Coffeehouse. He wasn’t entirely sure who he was looking for. A young lady sat alone caught his attention. Perhaps, she was the one Caleb was looking for. When Caleb approached, the young lady greeted him. He was right. “Yes, I’m Caleb Xue. You must be Annalyse. Nice to meet you.” Caleb offered his hand before he took a seat. “I didn’t keep you waiting, did I” That wouldn’t of been a good impression.

Ana was sipping at her coffee as she waited for the potential housemate. She tilted her head trying to remember if she had known him from anaywhere. Well maybe? Nope. She had nothing. She smiled as she noticed all of the other patrons drinking thier own coffee. She liked that in here you could just come, sit, and drink some coffee. It was a nice change from the city where everything moved so fast.

Ana smiled as she was approached by the man whom she presumed to be Caleb. Offering out her hand she smiled. “Nice to meet you Caleb.” She showed a grin to the young man and nodded. “Yes, my name is Annalyse, though you may call me Ana.” She flipped up the paper that had been submitted to her parent's email. “No you didn’t keep me waiting. How about we get this started eh?” She grinned before flipping the paper on the legal pad over.

“So, I have a couple questions if you don’t mind.” She smiled encouragingly over at the guy. “First, do you smoke? My parents don’t really want smokers in the house. Also do you have any pets?” It wasn’t necessarily a problem if he did, they just needed to be cleaned up after. “Deal is you would be living with me, and though this is my main residence, as my little sister is attending Hammel, my job entails that I travel a lot.” She glanced over at the man. “My parents are expecting someone who can clean up after themselves, and I’m expecting someone who won’t trash the place if I have to go on a business trip.”

Looking at the man, he seemed clean enough, didn’t smell bad, and looked like he basically had his life together. She wondered how he would react to all of the questions she fired at him, hoping he handled them calmly.

Caleb actively listened to all the questions and information that were being thrown at him. Caleb figured that Ana had other interviews to get to. He didn’t blame her for cutting straight to the point and skip all the small talk. This was an interview. Not two friends out for coffee.

“No, I don’t smoke.” He was an athlete and wanted to take care of his body. Plus he didn’t want to feel the wrath of his aunt. Scary. “No pets.”

As for cleanliness Caleb was pretty nest. He would throw his jacket willy-nilly. On occasions he would leave the dirty dishes in the sink instead of washing them right away. “I’m a neat clean person.” Caleb was glad his aunt always made him clean up after himself. “If I spill something I clean up, wash dishes, take the trash out, do the laundry.” Although, if Caleb was accepted, Ana may not be too crazy about Caleb doing the laundry for the two of them.

“Does your sister live with you? Or is she in the dorms, if you don’t mind me asking.” It wouldn’t bother him if the young student at the house. This interview wasn’t just about if they liked Caleb but also if Caleb liked the landowners.
