General Appearance: Doris is a little old lady. Her snow-white hair is thinning. She dyes her hair a redish-brown. Doris wears big thick glasses. Without the glasses she is a blind as bat. She wears red lipstick on her thin lips. Doris smells like clean soap and freshly baked goodies. When she walks, she hobbles.
Doris mostly wears dresses. Her dresses' colors range from solid colors to floral print to plaid. In the colder weather she will wear a sweater. Her favorite shoes to wear are cream color sneakers.
Personality: Doris is sweet, caring old lady. Her mother instincts are strong. She always has fresh baked goodies for anyone who helped her with technology, someone came by to see her, or anyone who needed a little treat. She is the old lady that everyone wants to be their grandmother, until you cross her.
First off, no one wants to feel the wrath of an angry old person. Second, off no one wants to feel the wrath of an angry old lady with super strength. Doris can dig her heels in and be stubborn as a mule. There's no way to get her change her mind when she is like that. Her biggest pet peeve is someone walking away when Doris is talking. Doris will rip a door of its hinges to get her point across.
She is someone who speaks her mind. She doesn't sugar coat her opinions. If she thinks the dress you are wearing makes you look like a potato sack, Doris will say it to your face. Most people who will hear these kinds of comments are people who are older or about her kids’ ages.
When Doris is around, she expects girls and boys will act like young ladies and gentlemen. They would not be trying to suck each other faces. All hanky-panky thoughts will go away even though Doris was like that when she was their age. Doris frowns at same-sex couples. She doesn't approve of that. Over the years she is accepting same-sex couples although she is still a little uncomfortable.
Doris is not very tech savy. The more apps and functions something has the more lost Doris gets. She does need help every now and again. She can work a computer and is able it get to the students' files. She much rather use paper and a filing cabinet to be organize. When it comes to cell phones, Doris can dial a number. She lived in Burlington, Vermont, with her parents and older sister, Beatrice. Three years later Doris became an older sister to her little brother, Peter.
The day her powers manifested Doris was twelve. She had gotten home from school and went to her room. When Doris opened the door she pulled the door off the hinges. The next day someone came by the house to see Doris and her parents. The recruiter explained to Doris and her parents that she was meta-human. After the recruiter left things changed between Doris and her parents. They were bitter to her. They did not understand the whole meta thing and were happy to send Doris to Hammel.
Doris transferred to Hammel. It took some time for Doris to adjust to being a meta-human. Other than that, life at Hammel was like at any other school. She was part of the cheer squat and drama club. There was girl drama, boy problems, annoying teachers, parties, and secret under-aged drinking. Doris made friends and enemies. She had been through several boyfriends during her Hammel years.
Doris got a part time job at the local diner when she was 18. That was where Doris met Johnny. Johnny was a total stud and leader of a motorcycle gang. He and his gang would hang out a lot at the diner. She was head over heels for Johnny. The two lovebirds would go for rides on Johnny's motorcycle. They were as happy as happy can be. The two dated for two years. It was longest relationship Doris was in. When Doris' parents found out who her boyfriend was, they did not approve of him. Her parents got in the way of Doris and Johnny. Even though they were bitter towards Doris they weren't going to let her run around with riffraff. And about that time Johnny was getting in trouble with the law. Doris and Johnny went their separate ways.
After splitting with Johnny, Doris honored her parents’ request, even though she and her parents were still bitter to each other. She went to college to study to become a teacher. It wasn't exactly what she wanted to do, but it wasn't the worst thing to do. During her studies she became a student teacher at Hammel. Doris taught Latin.
One Sunday at church Doris met her future husband, Wilbert. It wasn't love at first sight. They stated out as acquaintances, then friends, and then Doris was tired of waiting for Wilbert to ask her out. For their first date Doris asked Wilbert out. Their relationship wasn’t anything spectacular. It was nothing like what she had with Johnny. Wilbert was the one who popped the question to Doris. Thus the two got married. One of Doris’ siblings must have told their parents about Doris’ marriage. Her parents' approve of her marriage, even though they didn’t attend the wedding.
Doris quit school and her job when she got pregnant. Doris was 31 years old when she became a mother. She and Wilbert had a beautiful baby girl, named Heather. Two years later they had a son, named Peter. She was the stay home mom to take care of the children while Wilbert went to work.
Unfortunately, the family dynamics changed when Wilbert passed away. Doris became a widow at the age 48. The children were 15 and 17. Doris did her best to keep it together for the children. And Heather and Peter did what they could to help and take care of their mother. The three of them was able to continue on. After Heather and Peter graduated from high school they went off to college leaving their mother behind.
Instead of being alone at the house or going to a home Doris got a job at Hammel. She was 51 years old. This time Doris wasn't a student teacher. This time she was a dorm monitor. She had been happily working since 1999. Over the years Doris got moved up to head of housing. Doris is also became the advisor for the cheerleading squad.
