[Hunter and Terrence Park]

Hunter and Terry lit a couple of cigarettes. The courtyard was probably a non-smoking zone but the Park twins didn't give care. They were totally enjoy the week. Students and staff were showing their school spirit. Hunter and Terry thought the whole thing was stupid, but they had their entertainment. All week Hunter and Terry poked fun at the students.

Today Hunter and Terry were "flabbergasted" that most of the student dressed wrong today. It was Green Day. Most everyone was in the color green. Hunter and Terry dressed correctly. It wasn't green day. It was Green Day. There was a distinct difference between the two. And most people at the school couldn't tell the difference.

"Check out that kid," Hunter motioned to a student all decked out in green. Everything was green from their shoes to the poofy afro wig. "What an idiot." Terry brought the cigarette to his lips.

It was finally finally starting to get warm out. For the majority of the month, April seemed like it was having a really hard time committing to spring. Some days it got up to the 70s, while others would dip back down below the 50s. Honestly, Cleo really just wanted the weather to make up it’s mind. All this hot then cold weather was starting to give her whiplash.

Now that it was almost May it was starting to get a little more consistent. Was it warm enough for shorts? Probably not, but with her olive colored jacket she wasn’t that cold. It was green day after all, however, the eco-friendly theme was just one day shy of actually falling on Arbor Day. Ah well…it was thought that counted, right?

However, walking through campus it seemed like some students had misinterpreted the theme, their dress more reminiscent of the band, rather than the color. Did they not read the flyer properly? The band was good while they were popular, but why would Hammel designate an entire day of Spirit Week to a punk rock band? And then there were the students who really went all out with their color theme, and put Cleo’s green shirt and jacket to shame. Not that she really cared. She had school spirit, sure, but she’d never been incredibly interested in going all out on something like this.

As she crossed through the courtyard, she looked up from her phone when the smell of cigarettes wafted through the air. She wrinkled her nose; even though it was a scent that she’d grown accustomed to, it still wasn’t something she enjoyed. “Those things’ll kill you, you know.” She said to the culprits, the twins who were having way too much fun laughing at some of the other students walking by. Plus the faculty would probably flip shit if they saw them smoking in the courtyard. Not that Cleo would tell on them; she wasn’t a snitch, but most of the smokers on campus had the decency to at least do it secretly. Or in the designated areas.

The Park twins sat enjoying themselves while they made fun of other people. They were also enjoying their health problems in stick form. Hunter and Terry did't care where they were, if they wanted a smoke they had a smoke. It was as simple as that. Hunter and Terry did had a run in with Doris. The Park twins learned the hard way not to mess with Doris. It wasn't going to stop the twins that easy. They would just be cautious when the old lady was near by.

They looked up at the girl who spoke to them. The girl was one of the students who misunderstood the what today was. She didn't go over board like the green afro. Terry left the cigarette between his lips while his brother took the cigarette away from his lips. Hunter blew out the smoke. "And?"

The pair looked like they really couldn’t give a shit about what Cleo or anyone else who approached them had to say, whether it was about their smoking habit or their inherent teasing. Cleo didn’t even bother to make a comment on the latter; it wasn’t like she was anyone’s body guard. Nor was she one of those preachy-types who went on and on about how smoking was bad for you.

She watched as the cigarette smoke wafted through the air, fading away before it hit her face. She preferred not to smell it, but it didn’t bother her. So many people in the City smoked; it was practically a permanent odor in and outside of certain bars, especially when those areas weren’t designated with a ‘No Smoking’ sign.

This area wasn’t marked off specifically as ‘No Smoking’ though Cleo assumed that had more to do with the fact that the faculty trusted their students to make better decisions. Clearly, that was a bad idea. She was positive that the twins weren’t the first students to smoke out here, but it was pretty ballsy to smoke out here in the middle of the day in between classes.

“Nothing, I guess.” She shrugged, nonchalantly. “But you should probably know that the dorm advisors were just outside.” Cleo said, her gaze drifting back behind her. She’d seen them outside the dorms when she left to go to class. She didn’t know where they went or if they were making the rounds, but she thought she would at least give the two a warning. What they did with it was up to them.

This chick was a rare one. Not very people would look for the twins. They didn’t think she would of warned them that where was dorm monitor around. The way she reacted made her seem like she wanted to bust them. Most students would have been all over their butts for smoking. A few students might have joined them, but not many.

“Thanks.” The appreciation came out more like a question. “You’re a weird one.” Hunter added. “Want a smoke?”

Honestly, Cleo probably should have just let the DA bust them, since they were clearly so unconcerned about their surroundings. Still, she thought they should at least be aware of the possible threat that was looming over them. And they could do what they wanted with the information.

Which was apparently going to be nothing. Whatever. Not Cleo’s problem.

Cleo had been called a lot of things throughout her life, but she didn’t think she’d ever been called weird. At least not to her face. “Why? Because I’m not a snitch?” If she’d run and told on every single person she’d seen smoking in a non-smoking area, then she’d definitely have that reputation. Personally, she didn’t think it was a big deal, but she was used to it.

She glanced down at the cigarette that was extended to her and shook her head. Just because it didn’t bother her, didn’t mean she wanted one. She’d tried it once or twice before, when she was home on breaks and drinking with her friends, but she didn’t think she’d be able to pick it up as a regular habit. Regardless of her opinions on them, Cleo didn’t want to end up with lung disease by the time she was thirty.

“No thanks, I’m good.” And with the DA scouting around the premises, Cleo didn’t need to be a precog to know that it would probably end up with the three of them getting caught.

The twins were about to let it go. Smoking wasn’t everyone’s thing. And then a thought creped into their minds. “Really? Or are you just scared of getting caught?” They found a weakness or at least they thought they did. Hunter and Terry were going to use it against her.

They enjoyed picking on other people. And once they find a weakness or something weird Hunter and Terry run with it. Hunter and Terry aren’t people who use peer pressure to their advantage. Some times the twins appear to be trying to pressure their peers whether they meant to or not.

In this situation they were just poking fun at Cleo.

Cleo glanced down at the smoking cigarette in his hand before looking back up at the two, both clearly impressed with the joke they made. “Not really. But getting lung cancer isn’t really one of my life goals.” She said, shrugging nonchalantly. She probably wouldn’t get cancer from just one drag, but it wasn’t really a hobby she wanted to pick up.

She had seen the two of them around campus before, poking fun at people and causing trouble. Honestly, she really just avoided their path for the most part. She wasn’t afraid of getting made fun of, since she wasn’t the type of person who couldn’t take a joke and they didn’t seem like the kind of guys who were genuinely complete pricks. But she avoided drama when she saw it coming. It was really just a habit at this point.

She glanced down at their attire; clearly these two hadn’t read the flyer that went out. “You guys know you’re dressed wrong, right?” Not that she really faulted them. Apparently a lot of kids had misread it since the campus was crawling with students wearing punk rock clothing. Cleo had grasped the concept of the theme because she knew tomorrow was Arbor Day, but apparently some people didn’t make the connection.

“No. We read it right, Green Day.” The brothers pinched their shirts to show Cleo. It was kind of sad that there was some students didn’t know who Green Day was. The brothers had run into a few of those asking. Who did know Green Day? Hunter and Terry did know the flyer meant to wear the color green but that didn’t stop them.
