Emma Hayes was nervous. Not the normal nervous one gets from public speaking or asking a cute guy on a date, but the kind of nervous one has from finding out they are a super powered freak and moving half way across the county to live with other super powered freaks. She felt like something was eating through her stomach.
This was not part of her plans. She was just getting used to moving up to high school from her elementary school, how was she supposed to deal with this? Emma thrived off predictability. Here, she knew no one and practically nothing. Who was she to talk to? It had taken years to make friends back home. What was protocol here? What was 'cool'? In style? Would her dumpy work clothes fit in here as they had in her small work-minded town?
Worse was the powers. Emma was new to the super powers bit. Was everyone else already good at it? She had been assured that everyone started out in need of guidance, but it did little to calm her. And she was in a dorm, with other girls. Amelia Blane. Jenni Younge. What if one of them saw her powers when she slept? Emma would just die of humiliation if they said something.
She unloaded her bags onto the empty bed, and sighed heavily. First thing was first. She needed to take a look around and try to acquaint herself with other students. If Emma was to survive here, she would need help. Judging from the shaking of her knees, lot's of it.
