The Basics[/u][/size]
Name: Chase Samuel Kilbourne
Nicknames: Blondie, Kilbourne, Love (James only)
Age: 37
Orientation: Bisexual
Desired Rank/Job: Trainer
Powers: Domination/Mind Control – The ability to alter the perceptions of others, and the general ability to control the actions of others with the mind. (Great for a rowdy classroom.) The downside to Chase’s specific power is that he suffers terrible migraines after using it. Though they’ve gotten less frequent the more understanding he’s gained of himself, if he has to use it a lot, he’s usually down all night long.

The Details
Hair Color: Blonde (yes, it's natural)
Eye Color: Grey
Any Piercings? None
Any Tattoos? 3 – A stock shark on his right shoulder blade, music notes on his upper left arm, and the name ‘Jamie’ on his left shoulder blade.
Any Scars? One on his left thumb – kitchen accident. (He was consequently banned from using the sharp knives.)
General Appearance: Chase isn’t anything particularly special. Well, I don’t think he is. He’s tall, just under six feet, blonde, and still has some sense of muscle tone, especially in his arms. He’s got a tiny bit of pride in his body (despite the fact he routinely tries to poison it with fast food...). He doesn’t really work out anymore, but he’ll still roughhouse on the football field, especially with some of the older students.
Okay. Ask Chase what he looks like, and he’ll tell you something a little different. He’s a little vain. He’s a little proud. He’s a little compulsive when it comes to things like his hair – he’s not looking forward to grays. If you want to get on his nerves, tell him he’s got a little gray showing. It’s actually pretty funny. Not that I do that for fun or anything. But if he’s vain about anything, it’s his hair. He spends a ridiculous amount of time trying to tame it in the mornings.
Fashion-wise, Chase works training teenagers with enhanced abilities. He tends to keep it casual. He has a suit, and a few ties, but you’ll have to fight him to get him into them. He likes the look, he just doesn’t like it on him. He’s much happier in jeans and a t-shirt. Some days he’s got to work hard to teach these kids how to deal with their skills. When he’s at home, he’ll most often be caught in athletic shorts and a t-shirt. In other words, he’s capable of dressing up. He just doesn’t. Not often, anyway.
Personality: Laid back. Stubborn. Sarcastic. Are we there yet?
For the most part, Chase is easy to get along with. When he’s calm, he’s laid back, he’s pretty chilled out. It’s not hard to ruffle his feathers, though. He’s easy to irritate, especially if you’re under twenty. The little things bug him. Like the slacker in the back corner. Those are the times he’ll actually bother to use his ability, and give them a little wake up call to pay attention. He doesn’t like repeating himself, and he doesn’t like to be wrong. And he’ll defend a point to the death, if he has to.
Unfortunately, teenagers are obnoxious by nature. They question everything, it seems, these days, and it drives Chase mental. It wastes class time, for one thing.
Really , Chase is easy going, and easy to get along with, so long as you’ve passed the ‘obnoxious teenager’ phase and have since graduated to maturity. He’s competitive, though, especially with his favourite students. You know, the ones that are actually, miracle of miracles, a little more mature than their classmates. He can banter with them, he can tease them, he can be sarcastic and feel relatively safe doing so.
The only times you’ll find Chase completely insecure or on edge is easy. Put him in a kitchen, and tell him to make dinner, without burning it, or somehow ruining it. It’s harder than it sounds. He’s cursed, he swears. James has tried to teach him, and sacrificed a few good baking dishes in the process. Most of the time, it’s best if Chase just stays out of the kitchen all together. The other situation involves babies and toddlers. He doesn’t know how to deal with them. Too bad James’ family is full of them. He’s learning, really, he’s trying. But small human beings freak him the hell out.
At home, with James, he’s surprisingly loyal and loving. He loves his husband more than anyone in the world. He can vent his spleen to James, and he’ll still be loved. And James can do the same with him. More often than not, James is his lifeline. He can tell when his migraines are about to come on, so Chase can attempt to deal with them proactively. They have a good relationship together. Yes, they disagree, it’s in human nature to find conflict, but they really don’t fight. Unless James has the remote. And they’re watching yet another crime drama.

History
The only child to Meghan and Grant Kilbourne, you could say that Chase grew up a little on the spoiled side. He went to good schools, and fell in with the “in” crowd pretty quickly. However, he found that the in crowd was made up of nothing but petty, backstabbing kids. He got out as fast as he could, and found friends he could actually relate to. As an aside, Chase knew he had an attraction to both males and females for a long time. But Arizona isn't the most liberal thinking place, so he learned to hide it, and well.
Unfortunately for his parents, this group wasn’t exactly a high achieving bunch. But Chase loved the time he spent with them. Hanging in the back of the class, passing notes, really, it wasn’t productive. His grades dropped, especially in high school. Skipping class became the norm for him and his friends. They’d sit outside and play cards, and sneak alcohol onto the grounds. Sometimes a little buzz was all History needed to make it interesting.
When he was fourteen, Chase discovered he could do something. It was involuntary, and it completely freaked the hell out of his friends. His best friend, Ryan, in particular. He wasn’t even trying to do anything. Just wishful thinking. Wanting Ryan to change his mind about something. And he did. And he didn’t even know how, or way. Just that he’d changed his mind, like he’d been compelled to do it. And since Chase was the only one with him... well... they both freaked out. That same night, Chase went to bed with a migraine so bad, he thought he was going to puke.
A few days after that first incident, Chase started to wonder. He started to experiment. Hell, what teenager wouldn’t want to try this on his parents? And it worked. He got a permission form signed to go and get a tattoo when he was fifteen, just because he wanted it. But every time he used this newfound power, he got migraines. They worried his parents, but he just shrugged them off. (As best you can, anyway.)
It didn’t take long for someone to notice. Not his parents, not his friends, no. A recruiter showed up at the Kilbourne’s door one day, and spoke to Chase’s parents. The truth came out. Pending the results of a blood test, chances were, Chase was a particularly gifted human, and that there was a special school for him, if he wanted to go. They would teach him how to use his powers responsibly, and safely. Chase, who was laid up with yet another migraine, begged his parents to agree. Anything, to help teach him how to use this stupid thing right.
So, Chase attended Hammel. He actually found this kind of training interesting. Much more so than history and math. He actually threw himself into his training, and learned how to use his powers properly. The better he got, the lesser his migraines showed up, a bonus for him. Of course, not all of school was good. The students, particularily the older ones, liked gossip. And the biggest topic around was government conspiracies. Everything from ‘mutant’ autopsies, to keeping them in cages like animals, only taking them out for scientific testing. Chase wasn’t scared of a lot. But he was sure as hell terrified of being captured and caged, regardless of how much truth was behind that kind of talk.
By the time he graduated, Chase had a good handle on how to use his power, and more importantly, how to use it responsibly. He went back to his hometown. He got a job. He moved out of his parents’ house into a small apartment. He worked five days a week, and came home to an empty place. It wasn’t exactly his ideal life. And it didn’t get any better when he hit the bars on a Friday night. Sometimes he’d come home with someone, have a night of meaningless sex they both ended up regretting, and he went on with his life.
At least until he was 34 years old. Like usual, he was in the bar on a Friday night when he was sent a drink. That wasn’t the baffling part. The weird part was, it was from a guy. Not such a common thing in these parts. But curiosity got the better of him, and he actually talked to the guy. James Campbell. Probably one of the oddest people Chase had ever met. But something about him kept him hooked. He was in town for a business trip, and... a few drinks later, Chase found himself sleeping with him.
A week later, it was habit. Go to work, go home, change, hit James’ hotel. Chase was fascinated with him. There was a sense of mystery that thrilled him in a very odd way. It wasn’t until the end of the week that things started to... get a little weird. James questioned him on his abilities, with knowledge no normal human being could possibly possess. Remembering the horror stories, designed to keep the younger students awake at night, the blonde had panicked. It wasn’t until James had convinced him that he was actually a recruiter for, lo and behold, Hammel Institute, that he’d relaxed again.
With his perception, it was clear to James that Chase wasn’t exactly happy with his life. That he was feeling unfulfilled. That much was clear after a few conversations with the blonde man. And it got him thinking. The institute was always in need of instructors, and who better than an Alumni? When he headed back to Vermont, to the school, he had this in mind.
A few weeks later, he flew back to Arizona, and he managed to track down Chase once more. The blonde was more than a little startled to find none other than James Campbell on his doorstep. What was even more startling was the fact he was more or less begging him to come to Vermont with him. There was a job waiting for him at the school. It didn’t really take a lot of convincing. Chase was all too happy to pull up his roots and leave town. He needed a change.
So, Chase became an instructor. He began teaching the students how to deal with their powers. His own came in handy. He could physically show them how to use them, once he had them figured out. By day, he was a teacher. By night, he found himself caught up in an actual relationship with James.
For once, Fate was actually kind to the blonde. Both he and James came to the realization that they might have a little more going on than a physical attraction. A lot more. When Chase was 36, the made the leap, and got married. He's lived with James since he first came to Pilot Ridge, Vermont, they have a cat named Milo, and Chase gets along with James’ 15 year old daughter. Not quite your typical happily ever after, but close enough.

I'm going to do this. I swear. Just with Sammy, not Chase, because I'm being a lazy little sod.
