Valentine's Day Dance Entrance

"This is goin' tae be fun." Terrowin grinned at himself in the mirror, watching as a skeleton-painted face grin in return. As soon as he found out Kateri was going to be his date for the Valentine's Dance, they had been brainstorming ways to make themselves look as ridiculous (and awesome) as possible. They had finally settled on Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" video, where she and a man had dressed up in matching suits with faces painted as skeletons. He never understood the strange artist's fashion ideas, but he had to admit, he liked the look. Even if he had to shave his normal stubble and temporarily dye his blonde hair black to pull off the look. Kat had assured him that the dye would wash out easily.... But he had his concerns.

But there was no point in worrying about that now. He stepped back and admired his crisp black suit, shiny black shoes, and soot-colored top hat (he had chosen to wear a hat instead of completely shaving his head to paint a brain on his head like the guy in Born This Way - he wasn't that dedicated to his appearance kristinaderycke.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/ladygaga_skeleton2.jpg ). He thought he looked handsome, in a necrophiliac sort of way. Pleased with his appearance, he stepped out of the bathroom and zipped up to the auditorium entrance, adjusting his bow tie before stepping into the room. Immediately, he started studying all the dark corners of the room, seeking out any students whom he might be able to embarrass. Especially with the way he looked, he was sure any students caught making out would be extremely frightened, which amused the P.E. teacher to no end. Yes... This would be a fun night. He just needed to wait until his lovely dead date arrived as well.

[Vincent Verax]

Vincent, despite what one might think, actually enjoyed the school dances. No, not for any of the typical reasons. He'd been going to them for as long as he could remember just to cause trouble, dance like a moron with Sammy, or to hook up with desperate lovesick fools. What? I never said he was mature. There had also been a few he'd gone to with Moe on his arm and he'd been on his best behavior just to impress the small boy.

Things were a little different this time around. Instead of Moe at his side, it was Fifi, who was looking quite sexy if he could say so himself. He had been particularly captivated at how that short black dress clung to her body and his approval was quite apparent by his hand that was resting squarely on her backside. This is Vincent we're talking about, people.

And the person who he was actually seeing in a romantic way was the very person that he couldn't have as his date, but that didn't mean they couldn't be in the same place at the same time. Fifi was still the only person who knew about them and Vin knew she could keep a secret, even if at times he couldn't. And besides, with a girl that good-looking on his arm? No one would dare think that he might have his eye on another. It was win-win all around.

As they strolled into the auditorium together, Vin gave her a little pat on the butt. "Y'know, y'got a great ass." He laughed, pulling her just that little bit closer into his side. He caught sight of Brendan almost immediately, a smirk appearing on his face at the realization that damn, he looked good in a suit. Of course, he couldn't be caught leering at his teacher, so Vin led Fifi in the opposite direction. At least for now.

[Fifi Hart]

The dress in question was certainly a triumph of female physics. Fifi was a thin girl, and didn’t have many curves to speak of, but in the black number her backside did look pleasantly ripe, in her opinion. If Vin would take his hands of it, she could show it off. Cackling lasciviously, Fifi pushed Vincent’s hand away from her rump. “Would you at least wait until we’re dancing you handsy bastard?” She admonished half-heartedly, tweaking his nose playfully.

Fifi was pretty aware of her status as arm candy, and wasn’t feeling too bad about it. Vin was hot, and fun, and sexy (Did I say that already?); arm candy in his own right. Had she not known what was up between Vin and the art teacher, she might have thought the night could have gone somewhere. As it was, she was happy to play ‘make my boyfriend(?) jealous.’

Chuckling darkly, Fifi flicked her hair over her shoulder in a vain way. “Of course I do.” She huffed, swatted Vincent’s ass without mercy. Her hand against the glinting leather made a pleasant smacking sound. “You’re not so lacking yourself.”

It took a lot of planning to get Levi to come to the Valentine's dance.

A year before, he and Evan had shown up because Robbie had showed up and dragged them. It hadn't been a date, but it was one of the first times they had done something that wasn't directly related to schoolwork or eating in the cafeteria.

This was different. Levi was planning a real date, and it was going to be the best fucking Valentine's Day ever. Evan deserved it.

So Levi had splurged and bought a suit jacket, which he wore over a tee-shirt and jeans, throwing on the plaid scarf Evan had given him for Channukkah over it. He'd bribed Sam--not that it took much, Sammy was a good guy all the time--to drive him over to the Brackett's farm to pick up his boyfriend, stopping on the way to buy a single rose. (He'd intended to get a red one, but then he saw that they had purple and got that instead, since it was Evan's favorite color.)

Now, walking into the dance with his hand in his boyfriend's, Levi was just grinning. He squeezed the phaser's hand tightly and looked up at him. "You okay?" It might have been the fourth or fifth time he'd asked that night, but with what Evan had been through, Levi didn't want to take any chances. He wanted it to be perfect.

Luckily enough for Jordan, Brendan was a tad preoccupied. He’d been scanning the room. Teachers could get away with it without appearing to be looking for a specific person. The students had to be watched after all, right? Then again, he was looking for a specific person. Not that anybody needed to know that.

Also luckily for Jordan, Bren had two teenagers sisters. Snarkiness was something he could easily overlook when it came to the students. Of course, it had its limits. But he didn’t know this boy. So he wouldn’t call attention to it. With a chuckle, he said, “My fault for misunderstanding. And yes. I was. But I just like to get things started ya’ know?”

Hearing his name be called, Brendan turned. And there was one of his art students. Ravyn Rozanova. Actually, she was one of his more favored students. Because it’s totally appropriate for a teacher to have favorites. But as we all know, what is and is not appropriate was not high on Bren’s list of things to worry about. Either way, he didn’t actually show any favoritism. “Well hello Ravyn. Don’t you look lovely!” That ok, right? Not inappropriate?

Laughing at the girl’s joke, he shrugged. “Yeeeah, I probably should. Keeping food and drink specifically to my mouth are not a strong suit.”

Thinking the boy was perhaps a bit of a wallflower, Brendan patted his shoulder. “Well I hope you dance eventually. It’s a lot of fun. And gir-” He’d been about to say girls, that much was obvious. But, he really didn’t know this kid that well… So he straightened up and chuckled some more. “Well people tend to be impressed if you’re willing to dance.”

“Ginger Ale… It’s for the punch on your shirt.” Brendan liked to act as if he knew anything about laundry. But that was nearly entirely untrue. Just about everything he owned went to dry cleaning. Then again, he owned a lot of suits and dress shirts and pants. The only thing he felt safe in washing himself were his sweater vests. And he had quickly learned to NOT spill on those. But still, he thought he was right. So all he did was shrug to the boy and thought ‘Well… He’ll just have to learn that mistake on his own.’

Turning back to the other Hammel student, he shook his head. “Nope. No date. I’m here to impress the students with my aweeesome dance moves Ravyn. I don’t need no date for that.” Thank god he’s not an English teacher. “I could be wearing a chicken suit right now and all anybody would see was this pretty face.” Of course, he was pointing to his own face. The go on this man is ridiculous.

Glancing around again, Bren finally spotted them. His… God, he was almost thirty and still using the term boyfriend. If that’s even what Vin was. He sure as hell felt like a boyfriend. Anyway, not the point. The point was that seeing him, kind of upset him. Yes, he loved seeing Vin and spending time with him. But Fifi was his date for the night. And like a child, Brendan had thrown a temper tantrum about that. A private temper tantrum of course. Otherwise it’d be embarrassing. But nothing about the two of them at that moment was helping how he was feeling. They both looked great. And were touching each other.

He was usually satisfied to have the attention of just one person. He had that. Ravyn was talking to him. Not implying anything about Ravyn, but it wasn’t her attention he wanted right then. And after watching them for only a second, he looked back at Ravyn with a large smile on his face. “I’m having a blast. How about you? Where’s your date tonight?”

[Evan Brackett]

The rose Levi had given Evan was now pinned to pocket of his suit, courtesy of the phaser’s mother. He made sure he had a suit to wear—he didn’t want his prosthetic to be noticeable, and the jacket hid the apparatus pretty well. It probably would have been easy to talk his parents into buying him something new, but this was just a hand-me-down from David. As it turns out, it fit better than most of his other clothes anyway. The shoulder strap of his harness was a bit too bulky for his usual tight attire.

That was for the best. Obviously, this dance was going to be nothing like last years, and it was almost unbelievable how much had changed since then. As if he didn’t already hate dances, Evan was not looking forward to making his first appearance back at school. He felt bad that he was as anxious as he was, mostly because Levi was trying really hard to be a good Valentine, and it was cute. But this was nerve-racking.

It must have showed on his face, because Levi kept asking if he was okay. “Yeah, I’m fine,” he lied again, squeezing back. It was just a dance. It wasn’t like he was going to get up on stage in front of everyone. He didn’t think anyone other than the people that visited him when he was in the hospital would even notice he hadn’t returned from break. He didn’t think he was super popular, or well known, but this was just the kind of thing—being surrounded by lots of people in a small space—that terrified him. Understandably, his claustrophobia had only become worse since the accident.

Since his hand was in a death grip with Levi’s, Evan couldn’t continually tug down his right sleeve like he wanted. He settled for tucking his prosthetic in his pocket, which wasn’t ideal, but it was better than nothing. The last thing he wanted was people asking about it. It occurred to him then that he should have prepared a response in case anyone did notice his absence, or saw his arm and asked. Oh well. That wasn’t the point of tonight. He was supposed to have fun, and be a normal teen. Whatever that was.

"Should we get drinks first? Or sit? Or...?" he asked uncertainly, looking around at the people and the decorations. He mostly just wanted to leave.

[Reece Turner]

"Do you need a drink, buddy?"
Reece stared at himself in the mirror before shifting a glare at Anthony, reflected behind him. He was ready to go, all dressed up in a pristine almost navy suite. There was just one tiny thing wrong about all this. He was going with Sage. He should have been going with his lover, with Emmanuelle but she'd never asked him. A strange brilliant young boy had asked him instead. The idea was a little crushing.

Reece thought she'd liked him but she'd gone and proven she hadn't. She'd gone and proven that she was just interested in some part time fling where as Sage had gathered up the courage to ask. But the age difference. It was like dating his sister. Reece's eyes snapped shut to avoid a shudder.
"Or maybe a joint?"
The smell of cannabis lulled Reece to opening his eyes and he shot another glare into the mirror.

His hand wafted at the smoke.
"Anthony! Come on! Man! I'm going to a high school dance. Can you back the hell off?"
Anthony paused, staring at his friend before turning and heading for the bedroom door.
"Laker! Do we have any valium in the appartment? Reece is having a panic attack..."
Reece rolled his eyes and slowly got to his feet. This was gonna be one hell of a night. He prayed that Emmanuelle was sick.

The last thing he wanted to do was put either of them in an awkward situation...

His siblings had the car that night so Reece had to bike his way over there. Laker had insisted it would ruin his haire and outfit. Despite that he was sure that his date wouldn't mind if he had gone bold and worn a potato sack to the evening's event? Reece had seen the way Sage looked at him, like he could do no wrong. That tender innocence and hope and love Sage had. It hurt him to think that Sage didn't know just who Reece was and what he was capable of. Reece pulled into the parking lot.

His siblings didn't have a clue that they were being chaperoned that night by their older brother. He'd try and focus on Sage but he had a funny feeling that his demon child sibling would do something to ruin the evening and for Sage's sake, he would not allow that to happen. Reece pulled from the bike and started undoing his cuffs as he headed up to where he said he'd meet Sage, just outside Hammel's enterance hall. Nostalgia hit him hard the moment he walked through the gates and drew closer to the building.

Oh how he wanted to be fifteen again. To be young and innocent and not have a care in the world except what to do for fun. Through the black visor, Reece could see Sage standing there, nervously hovering by the side waiting for him. It was absolutely the most adorable thing he'd ever seen. Reece made a beeline for the boy. He pulled off his helmet and shook out his hair, which suddenly had volume in it, thanks to Laker. Reece pulled out a tiny see through box from his big biker's jacket and smiled warmly as he approached Sage.

"Hey, I'm sorry to keep you waiting. You look amazing. "
He held out the red rose pin in the see through box to Sage.
"I didn't know if you liked roses or not. I thought I should give it a try. I can stick it on if you want. Wouldn't want you to prick yourself and fall into a thousand years of sleep. We're just getting started..."
Reece said softly titling his head to the side as he waited for Sage to accept his gift.

Sage really did look glowing tonight and he wasn't even glowing all that much. Reece still could not believe his luck. Now if only he could find his siblings without seeming too obvious about the searching.

[Aphrodite Digiovanni]

Aphrodite entered the auditorium, slowly a small smile on her face. Her date was Isaac, but she didn't want to bother him, so she said she would meet him here. She let her eyes gaze over the people that were already there, and tuck her hair hair behind her her ear. She bit her lip and slowly walked further in the room. She was never a valentine's kind of person. Which was why didn't tell JT about the dance here. She didn't want him to be embarrassed about going to her school for some dance. Plus she wasn't the type to go crazy for the stupid holiday. She brushed her fingers over her pink dress and sighed. She hated the color pink, but she wore it anyway, so it would fit the dance's theme.

She made her way to a wall and leaned against it, so Isaac could spot her. This is where she would wait for him, she closed her eyes and smiled. She barely knew Isaac, since she didn't really socialize that much with people at Hammel. She looked at her shoes and sighed. He feet are going to be killing her tonight, as well as her ankles. She shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. "Oh well" She murmured with a sighed.

[Sage Ersilia]

Sage had tried very hard to get rid of his nervousness after he separated from Ty. He really did. However, he could not stop his heart from beating a million beats a minute. Sage was so excited to see Reece again, but he was also worried that maybe he had changed his mind. Ty’s words came back to his thoughts, and it calmed him a bit. Reece didn’t say yes to anything he didn’t mean, so he had to trust that the brunette wanted to be here with him.

The blond heard the roaring of a motorcycle nearby, and he turned his head in interest, shocked to see a familiar figure riding it. Was that really…? Reece removed his helmet, his beautiful hair falling over his face. He was amazingly dressed, and Sage was breathless as the man approached him. He smiled at him, his body glowing brighter already as he shook his head in denial to let him know he had not waited long. Reece was really here…

“Wow…Laker really knows how to dress a man…you look so handsome…”

Sage eyed the object in Reece’s hands, and his eyes widened a bit. It was a beautiful red rose lapel, and his fingers traced over the lid of the box in awe.

“It’s beautiful…thank you…”

Reece offered to help him put it on, but the added comment about pricking his finger and falling into a thousand year sleep left him blushing.

“I would hate to fall asleep before we dance…I’ve been really looking forward to it!”

The boy giggled and opened the lid to the box, gently pulling the delicate rose out and fiddling with the pin.

[Vincent Verax]

Vincent stuck his bottom lip out as far as it would go when Fifi removed his hand from her rear. "Tha'ss all I gotta wait for? Then c'mon, bitch." He grinned, pulling Fifi out onto the dance floor. He didn't care if there weren't many people dancing yet. He was hardly a wallflower, he had Fifi to dance with, and was entirely lacking in the shame department.

He just so happened to glance back at Brendan at the right moment, making eye contact with him for only a few brief seconds. It was a short time, but Vincent smirked, and he could almost feel the disapproval radiating from the teacher. But as Bren looked away, Vincent did too, looking at Fifi with a cocky little grin on his face. "He's totally jealous." He said in a low voice next to Fifi's ear.

There hadn't been any real reason he wanted to make Brendan jealous. He was merely being a jackass for the sole reason of being a jackass... and maybe slightly because it made him feel special if Brendan went a little green. His hands found Fifi's tiny waist while hers found his ass and he couldn't help a laugh at the sound that reverberated from her palm slapping it. "'Damn righ'!" Yes, he's entirely proud of his ass... ets.

More people were still filing into the auditorium and Vincent tried his very hardest not to keep throwing looks over at Brendan. It helped a lot that Fifi was absolutely stunning. "Y'think w'shoul' go say hi t'him?"

[Abigail Conners]

Abby was going to kill her brother. He had decided it would be fun to sign her up for this stupid blind date thing for the dance. She hadn’t wanted a date, she just wanted to go and have fun with friends. But no, Noah had to decide that she needed a date. He knew why she didn’t date anyone, yet he still signed her up. ”You’ll be fine..” He said, leaning against her door frame as she finished getting ready. Abby just wrinkled her nose at him while she slipped her shoes on. At least she looked good. She looked herself over one more time.

Her pink dress, pink shoes, pink jewelry. A perfectly pink outfit for Valentine’s day. She picked up her gold clutch, angrily. Noah didn’t realize anyone could pick up something angrily, but somehow Abby managed it. She glared at him as she stalked out the door, expecting him to follow. He obliged, catching up to her easily. ”You know why I can’t do this! I can’t even dance with anyone...” She kept tugging on a lock of hair as she walked. He shook his head, smiling slightly.

”You don’t know that sis. How bout you just try.” She sighed softly. ”Whatever, go have fun with your date.” He sighed in return but headed off to find his date. Abby didn’t know the girl, and didn’t really care. Noah had a bit of a revolving door of pretty blond girlfriends, none of whom ever talked to his kid sister very much if at all. Abby headed into the dance a bit behind him, and found a wall to lean against.

She scanned the room for her date, one Bell Kent. She didn’t know him, which only made her more nervous. She kept twirling one piece of hair around her finger, over and over. A habit she got from her mother. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe she could try. Maybe.

[Shane Williams]

Shane had never actually been to a dance before, what had caused him to enter his name into the blind date drawing he really wasn't sure. His fingers slipping a bit he tried again to tie the blasted tie around his neck. The nervousness of going to a dance with a girl he didn't know was threatening to overwhelm him causing his ears to vibrate and ring. Shane took several deep breaths focusing on the meditation he'd been learning. He was going to be a bit late and he hoped his date wouldn't mind. Late was better than struggling with control in his mind. Letting a few moments pass Shane stood and calmly finished getting dressed.

Here goes nothing

As Shane approached the auditorium he began to panic... how would he find her in so many people??? He looked around and eventually settled on the refreshment table, it seemed like he safest place in his mind for him to start.

[Gabriel & Uriel Raines]

Suits. Both boys arrived in perfect looking, perfectly tailored dark grey suits, with skinny black ties. Naturally, everything fit them to the t, as having money came as nothing but an advantage for school dances.

When their mother had heard that her darling, single boys could sign up for matchmaking, she nearly fainted. Neither boy had ever had a girlfriend and she had full intentions of having grandkids someday. Well, after she raised the baby stirring inside her now, anyways.

When they had received the names they had, both were pleased - Charlie was tall, though Gabriel was - luckily - still taller than her. Lindsey was their age, so they know a little more about her - she was very sweet, and an empath at that.

Really, all Gabriel knew about Charlie was that she had armored skin. Oh, and she was a tall, and a year older.

The boys walked in, both looking as though they could own the place, exuding confidence. Both looked around, eyes first settling on Terro, who'd just walked in. "Wow, hey there, Napoleon Bone-apart..." Uriel said as both boys chuckled, never tiring of teasing their favorite teacher. "We'd love to stay and chat, but I seem to have found my match." Gabriel commented as he eyes found Charlie.

"Careful, don't lift anything heavy.." Gabriel started, Uriel tossing over his shoulder as they left, "Yeah, you're all skin and bones!"

It was a good thing they knew Mr. Guthrie liked them.

As both boys approached Charlie - since it seemed Lindsey hadn't yet arrived - Gabriel reached a hand out, taking hers, and giving her a bow and gentle kiss on the hand. "Charlie, hi, I'm Gabriel, you look absolutely divine. That dress makes you look as radiant as the Sun itself!" Always the charmer. At least these boys had been taught right..

Uriel stepped back, allowing Gabriel and Charlie to get acquainted, while he waited for his own date.

[Isaac Tilford]

Isaac usually didn't worry too much about how he looked. But he'd signed up for the matchmaker, and wanted to look good for Aphrodite. It took him a while to sleek down his curly hair, but once he was done, he thought he looked pretty polished. The senior wasn't late when he walked into the dance, but he noticed straight away that Aphrodite was there already. She was pretty hard to miss. That wasn't a typical high school dance dress.

Once Isaac's eyes were back in his head, he fiddled with his cuffs and approached his classmate, smiling nervously. Didn't she realize it was February? "Hey, Aphrodite. You weren't waiting long, were you? You look...wow."

[Lindsey Turner]

If only Lindsey were as cruel and heartless as her sister was, she would kill her. Not only had Becca crowded the bathroom, she'd taken the car before Lindsey could even get out of the shower. Lindsey so badly wanted to hit her, but knowing Becca, she wouldn't be able to get close without having to deal with nightmares coming to life. Grumbling about the unfairness of it all, Lindsey grabbed a jacket and wrapped it around her bare shoulders. The white and black strapless dress was definitely not the best choice for a Vermont winter, but it was pretty, and Lindsey liked how the skirt flared out when she twirled.

It wasn't the worst walk in the world, getting to school, except for the chill in the air, but Lindsey was happier than usual walking into the building's heat. She pulled the slip of paper with her match's name on it from the pockt of her jacket and glanced around before entering the auditorium and repeating the motion. She knew of the Raines twins. Same grade as her, after all, but Lindsey couldn't tell them apart to save her life. It was entirely possible she'd just have to make a guess and hope for the best. She forgot to check her hair before she walked into the dance, but the wind outside hadn't helped her style at all.

Finally, amid the crowds, she spotted one of the twins, though he was already with a girl that Lindsey didn't recognize. Lindsey made the assumption that it was the wrong twin simply because the girl looked like she was meant to be his date. Surely the school wouldn't have mistakenly put two girls with one guy, right? No, she'd just have to keep look- Oh. Right there. She smiled and started maneuvering around the people on the dance floor to get to him. "Hey. Uriel?" Please oh please don't make her look like a fool right now as she held her hand out to the red head. "Sorry I'm late."
