Sage was receiving compliment after compliment, and he tried to keep his blush to a minimum. However, hearing Reece’s words constantly refer to him as something similar to perfection was just too much. The glow around his body was beginning to flicker brighter and, accomplishing Reece’s motives, Sage walked into the auditorium with a newfound confidence. He had Reece beside him, so what could possibly go wrong?
The brunette nudged him and directed his eyes towards a girl dancing with a red-headed boy. Sage smiled when Reece addressed the girl as his sister, and he tried to examine the boy a bit better for the ‘overprotective big brother’s’ sake.
“Hmm…I’ve seen him around before, but his name escapes me…I believe he has a twin brother. That’s your sister? She’s really pretty, Reece”
Sage would have noticed the resemblance to Becca too, had he seen her, but fortunately Reece had done a good job of steering him out of sight and towards the refreshment table. A drink really did sound good right about then, since thanks to the blushing, the glowing of his body, and the body heat of all the people around them, it was really almost uncomfortably warm to the boy. Sage moved closer to the table and grabbed two cups, filling them both with punch and handing one to his date. The boy took a sip and smiled at the taste.
“This is the best punch I’ve ever tasted!”
He took another sip then before frowning at Reece’s sudden look of shock. He was standing there, frozen and gaping, and Sage felt concern kicking in. The blond followed his gaze towards Aracelli, and then back to Reece, his voice coming out quietly, almost inaudible under the loud booming of the music.
“Reece…is everything okay?”
