Unaware that the other man was scrutinising him, Ben thought what he showed Cobalt was a look of aloofness when in reality, Ben wanted to sulk and pout at what wasn't happening. But he couldn't tell Cobalt what he wanted. He was just so scared that if he pushed one more time to do something the other man clearly [to Ben anyway] didn't want, it would just result in Cobalt pushing away.
It was weird that not a few days ago, Ben pulled away because he thought he didn't want anything serious. Now, it seemed as though he couldn't imagine waking up knowing Cobalt wasn't around for him to call. The shadow manipulator was confusing Ben. But he didn't want this night to end badly. What this visit boiled down to was the fact that the child psychologist missed his Cobalt. Right this moment, with Cobalt tucked into his arms [so perfectly, he noted to himself] was what Ben wanted.
"Great," Ben noted Cobalt's preference and laughed at his remark about his appetite. "Been cooking my entire bachelorhood. Experimenting with things. Can't cook without eating it so, built up my appetite." He grinned with a shrug. "Aha, yeah. Maybe."
Ben's ears perked at the sudden change in Cobalt's tone of voice, his smile softening considerably. He couldn't help but pull Cobalt's face up and planting a gentle kiss on the other man's forehead, figuring it was a safe zone. Much safer than those lips. Those lips seemed to have a very overwhelming power over Ben.
"So am I, Coby."
Not wanting to turn this into a sappy love scene from some estrogen-filled chick flick, Ben gently extracted himself from Cobalt and popped in another movie. "This movie is an old favourite of mine. It's a musical comedy. A bit cheesy at times but probably why I like it." Ben chuckled and jumped back on to the couch, immediately pulling Cobalt into his arms again.
So much for not turning this into a sappy chick flick.
