Bill was actually a little sad today--a big surprise right?
No, it was the last day of turkey hunting season. Bill had gotten up particularly early and had taken both Lucy and Bernard with him to go hunting. He loved Disco dearly, but the old guy just wasn't a good hunting dog, he brayed all the time and always bolted at the sound of gunshots. He had caught two medium sized males, and two nice plump females. He had gutted them after he caught the forth one--deciding to call it quits after that one--then upon getting home he plucked the feathers, washed the carcasses and then put them in one of his sheds, which had enough meat to feed an army stored away.
It was nine in the morning after he'd showered, and by nine thirty he was sitting on his couch, twiddling his thumbs. All three of his dogs were napping around him. He needed to get out of the house. He didn't bother waking the animals, but left the back door cracked for them should they wake up before he gets home. He hadn't remembered anything important lately--his power seemed to be on a vacation at the moment so he didn't have any foreseen events to look forward too. He really needed something to do.
He probably should have shaved because he looked a bit scraggy but he hadn't really planned on doing anything worth while. Today was actually promising to get warm so he just left the house in a dark green t-shirt and jeans. With his hands in his pockets he strolled down the street towards downtown.
At first he just sat on a bench and nodded his head at any person or persons that passed him by. For ten minutes he talked to a nice old geezer who stopped for a breath at the bench, which was pleasant. He shook the guy's hand before he went on his way. Bill decided to get a drink from somewhere and started to amble his way through town, keeping his eye open for something that caught his eye.
He passed by a store with this looking up at him with the cutest face in the world. He stopped walking and turned to look at the little guy, his mouth slightly slack. He broke into a big grin, "'Allo there little tyke." He cooed before he realized. He looked left and right before he walked into the pet store.
He didn't even look up at the clerk behind the register, his eyes were just for the little guy in the window display who was all by himself. He reached over the barrier and plucked him up. The little fluffy thing yipped at him. Bill laughed faintly and scratched under it's chin. He squirmed in his hands, and Bill saw it was actually a female. "Hello beautiful. Ye want to come home with me, don't ye?" He asked the adorable puppy, who licked his thumb before gnawing on it.
Yeah.
He walked out of the store with a bag of puppy things and the cute little thing squirming in his arms. She was way too small and young to be put on a leash so she would just have to get over it. He was gazing down at the newest member of his family when he bumped shoulders with someone. His head snapped up. He shoulda seen it coming, really.
"Apologizes. All my fault." He was in the perfect mood right now. This puppy was so adorable.
