There were many reasons why Odion had felt so ignored lately. Rhett was suddenly gone. Poof, done, fini. The person he came for abandoned him yet again, after he promised he wouldn’t do it a second time, after he promised to stay. It was the only good Odion had and suddenly he could feel the caressing fingertips of darkness, and they never felt more like home. He refused to acknowledge he was on the verge of depression, and instead focused on manipulating his powers. Maybe it was because he was emotionally drained, but his powers barely cooperated any more. He couldn’t even steal for fun.
Fun. The word was lost on him. It was strange to be in a place that you hated. Going back to Europe wouldn’t be as easy as he had hoped, wouldn’t be as easy as it had been getting to America. And what did he want to go back to Europe for anyways? Nothing. There was no reason for anything now. At least when Rhett... Odion closed his eyes and tried to focus. He would restrain his powers and make them work for him. He would combat just as well as he had before when he first arrived. He would be flawless. And yet, when Rhett disappeared, he took a part of Odion with him. Their connection had been unexplainable, and Odion couldn’t stop thinking about that in spite of himself.
What felt like a moment, turned into an evening. No, Odion wasn’t using his powers, rather, was just feeling the side effects of them. No concept of time. He was a mess. He sat on the window sill in the cafeteria, perfectly still. He hadn’t slept for probably two nights now, but he wasn’t sure. Again, the time thing. He tried to pretend he couldn’t feel the pain of losing nearly everyone he had come to know, even those he hated. But the truth was, there wasn’t anyone really worth knowing here anymore. He was too lost in his pity party to remember Avi or Lani. Too numb to cry another tear. What was he crying for anyways? Rhett had always been a pretender, and if he ever saw that blonde again...
The breakfast line for the cafeteria began to fill, and Odion looked out the window like this was where he belonged and would stay forever. Maybe he would.
