All Underneath the Surface (Open)

As if dark clouds weren't enough to dampen the mood, it had to be raining too. Normally rain would seem perfect for a Hydrokinetic, but today was one of those days where it just seemed to lay a heavy mood killer on Noah's shoulders. He felt a little stuck in the school grounds; not that he was, but the drive into the main part of town wasn't something he wanted to take today.

And non-powered people couldn't exactly travel to the school. So he was at a loss.

Noah had sprawled himself out on one of the couches, his eyes closed and his guitar resting on his stomach. Last he checked, the lounge was pretty quiet. He figured most people were just choosing to stay in their dorms instead of venturing out. Well, it was one of those days. Quietly, the blonde started singing along with the lazily strummed pattern he was playing, having one of those moments where he more or less forgot where he was.

Ava was bored so very bored listening to the sound of the rain tapping on the window she just prayed it stayed as rain and not a full on thunder storm she had finished her essays and other tasks she had even cleaned the bathroom letting out a heavy sigh she moved from her room grabbing her handbag as she walked down the hall a little unsure of what she was going to do with the the rest of her time ... she needed to get back into her hobbies .

Walking down the hall to the common room she could hear music being played with singing aswell she was impressed also that meant people she smiled happily as she walked in glancing around seeing a blonde head on the couch she shuffled slightly she was wearing a pair of white socks with hello kitty on them she didnt like to wear shoes all the time she leant against one of the other couches '' Mine ..a little company ? '' she asked with a small smile one of her hands fiddling with a loose thread on her shirt.

It was pretty easy to get lost in what he was doing. With his eyes closed, the outer silence of the room completely gave way to the soft strumming of the metal strings in tandem with his voice. Noah missed taking the time to sing whatever song was on his mind. It seemed like things were rushing along and there was barely any time to stop and take a breath.

Noah stopped singing abruptly when he heard someone talking, though he kept playing the instrument in his hands. His eyes flew open and his body jolted, and that was when he saw her.

Instantly, Noah smiled back at her. It was almost instinctive when he saw the way she smiled at him. "Not at all." He replied lightly, swinging his legs over the edge of the couch and pulling himself up into a sitting position. "I'm Noah," He began, extending his hand out to her, "I got a little sick of being stuck in my room all day, so I came down here. What about you?"

Ava blushed as she stepped forward '' lm sorry l didnt mean to startle you '' lightly shaking his hand '' lm Ava its a pleasure to meet you and hear you sing '' she said with a small smile and a slightly nervous laugh she didnt want to sound to creepy before she nodded '' Yes lm suffering from the same .. pretty sure my room isnt going to get any cleaner so l decided to step outside and see if l could annoy someone '' she grinned as stepped back slightly sitting on the edge of the couch and tucking her legs under her.

'' And the weather is kinda sucky .. so l think most people are hiding in there rooms under there covers '' she giggled glancing over to the window '' Dont get me wrong l like the rain l find it rather romantic actually .. just thunder storms l cant stand '' she mumbled glancing back at Noah she fidgeted then resting her head on her knees her eyes watching him with a soft look in her eyes. '' So .. do you like the rain ?'' she asked before almost slapping her forehead at the lame question.

"No harm done." Noah replied with a smile. It was his fault for zoning out like he did anyway. He chuckled slightly as she introduced herself, nodding his head a few times before looking back over towards her. "If you liked the singing then I guess the pleasure's all mine."

Noah moved towards the opposite end of the couch, resting the guitar against the vacant seat near him. He didn't want to potentially make her uncomfortable or anything like that. "I'm glad you picked me as your victim then." He replied with a laugh, idly running his hand through his hair. He wanted to make sure it looked good, after all.

"You think so too?" Noah asked, glancing towards the window. "I don't really know why, but yeah... It is pretty romantic."

He had to wonder if that was a strange thing to admit to a stranger, but he didn't dwell on that for long. He felt completely comfortable. "Normally, yeah. But really I guess I just like water." Noah admitted, pointing back towards the nearby window with his index finger. As he traced patterns in the air, the water on the glass moved with it; random swirling lines on the other side of the glass. A random question popped into his head and he grinned at the thought before turning his attention back to her; "Have you ever felt the urge to just run around outside when it's raining?"

She laughed with him at the comment about her making him a victim feeling her shoulders bounce she then glanced up at the celing for a second before she zoned back looking at Noah then at the window watching the rain drops move she gasped as she walked over to the window pane giggling slightly before she glanced over her shoulder at him.

'' Thats a pretty cool power '' she said to him with a happy smile she then glanced back at the window watching the rain '' And yea it is romantic .. like the idea of walking hand and hand with someone and then it starts to rain lightly maybe a little dancing if its somewhere like a park ...and lm going to stop talking '' she uttered her cheeks flushed as she realised she must sound like a crazy person.

'' but to answer your question Yes l have always wanted to but never had anyone to do it with .. l mean l dont want to look any craizer than l already am..'' she said with a faint giggle as she walked back over to the couch and sat down.

"Thanks," Noah replied with a wide smile, "I really like it. It's insanely useful." He really did feel lucky to be given the ability he had. Little tricks like that proved to be pretty impressive to people.

And even then, Noah couldn't keep the smile off his face when she was talking. He shrugged his shoulders lightly when she said she was going to stop talking; "I like it. People who admit that kind of thing, y'know? Besides, it sounds pretty good to me." Honesty. At least he knew he was talking about it.

"Really?" Noah asked, sounding clearly surprised by what she said. He shook his head with a laugh, looking back out the window briefly before turning his attention to her. "Well... I'm someone. And we're both bored." He stood up, extending his hand out to her. His guitar would be fine, he was sure. It was far too wrecked to be worth stealing. "How about it? We could look crazy together."

Ava glanced at him then at his hand with a small smile she reached out for his lightly squeezing her hands felt slightly cold from touching the window pane '' Well your power is much better than mine '' she said with a faint giggle '' And l will be gland to have a crazy partner in crime '' she grinned as she stood up standing next to him '' Well being honest is just the way that l am '' she whispered quietly feeling a little self consious

She flushed and looked down at her long sleeved white top she shrugged as she started to walk towards the door '' Well come on then slow poke '' she teased moving up onto her tip toes she started to move a little quicker she was still only in a pair of socks but she didnt mind them getting wet.

'' This is going to be fun '' she smiled looking back at him '' Are you sure that you are going to be ok getting your hair wet ? '' she asked sticking her tongue out at him as they got closer to the dorm doors seeing the rain coming down and bouncing off the ground '' Are you sure about this rain man ? '' she asked smiling liking to call people nice nicknames.

"I wouldn't count whatever yours is out. Y'never know what you can do with some powers." Noah replied lightly. When he first got his he didn't know all the amazing things he could achieve with water. He figured it just took time to get used to and all that. He smiled at her when she admitted that this was just how he was, and his shoulders shrugged lightly. "Then we should get along just fine, right?"

Noah followed along behind her, looking back to his guitar briefly when she called out. "Hey, don't turn this into a race you know you can't win!" He replied with a laugh, catching her again as they made their way to the door.

"Oh, don't you worry about me. I know how to handle water." He replied, though for good measure he ran his hand through his hair to make it perfect, playing along with the joke. Rain man? He laughed about that, looking forward to the water and squeezing her hand. "You only live once, right?" He asked, and in the next moment he ran out into the rain, pulling her out with him.

'' Ah my power is kinda sucky... nothing amazing about me just your average girl '' she whispered looking up at him nodding slowly '' Sure just fine '' she smiled slightly brighter as she thought about her new friendship with Noah she could call it a friendship right ? her cheeks where tinted with a slight blush now as they neared closer the door.

She could hear the rain letting out a soft giggle '' Oh please rain man l would beat you at a race any day of the week '' she smirked as she squeezed his hand lightly and ran out with him letting out a squeal as she felt the rain on her skin soaking her clothes but she didnt care she had never felt so free.

'' This is amazing !! '' She said with a laugh as she span around looking up at him before she stopped infront of him running her fingers through her wet hair yet one strand of her hair lay on her cheek she was also glad that she hadnt worn any make up today other wise it would of been running down her face '' Enjoying the rain ? '' she asked above the noise of the rain falling around them.

"There's something amazing about everyone." Noah pointed out, standing by his statement and believing it to the fullest. No one was just an average person; especially not here.

He let out a short laugh when she said she could beat him in a race. "I don't know about that," He began, playing up his confidence for the joke, "I'm a pretty awesome, impressive track star." Even then, he couldn't keep a straight face after saying it. He started laughing at himself, shaking his head at his own attempt to exude confidence onto another person.

At any rate, when they were out in the rain he looked up, letting the droplets run along the contours of his face. "I can't believe you've never done this before!" He called out, watching her spin around before stopping right in front of him. He ran his hands across his head, shaking out some of the water and leaving it in an unusually disheveled state. "Better than sitting and studying in your room, right?" He asked, extending his hand towards her and brushing the strands off her cheek and away from her eyes.

Ava glanced up at him with a smile her cheeks flushed as she ever so lightly extended the touch so her cheek touched against his hand a little more before she stepped away letting out a slight nervous giggle while she span around once more her white top now clinging to her body '' I'm going to look at the rain in the same way'' she uttered moving over to lightly kiss his cheek ''thank you Noah for this l needed it '' she mumbled running her fingers through her hair knowing as soon as it started to dry it would go all frizzy but she wasn't bothered.

For the first time in a long time she wasn't worried about dates and flowers and thinking that she was lost and alone.

"That's good, because you shouldn't." Noah replied, surprise etching onto his features when he felt her lips against his cheek. He hadn't expected that kind of action, especially from someone who seemed like such an introvert. Well, if this whole thing had brought her a little more out of her shell, then that was a good thing too. "Sometimes it's fun to do the unexpected, right?" He asked, waving his hand over their heads to force the rain to pool and drain as if they were underneath an invisible umbrella.

Ava smiled blushing slightly she turned her back letting out a small gasp when she realised she wasnt getting rained on anymore she smiled reaching up with her fingertips watching the water trickling around her '' its kinda like being in a bubble or at the aquaraium '' she mumbled before turning to face him with a cheeky smile.

'' Now dont you let all this water tip on us or we are going o be soaked ' she laughed knowing they where both already soaked she shrugged her shoulders before running her fingers through her hair slowly before she felt a slightly tickle in her nose '' Oh no '' she uttered her face screwing up slightly as she sneezed almost bending over from the force '' Acchho !... Oh bless me '' she said straighting up blushing faintly '' So can you turn a normal bath into like a hot tub then ? '' she asked tilting her head slightly before giggling at the random question

'' My day has been totally unexpected and l wouldnt change it for the world '' she smiled at him

"Something like that, yeah." Noah replied with a laugh. People tended to underestimate what could be done with water. Or maybe he was just way too creative. More to the point, he probably just had way too much time on his hands.

His mouth twisted into an amused grin when she spoke again. He hadn't thought of dropping the water on them, but now it was a reality that he almost didn't want to pass up. "I can't make that promise," He began, "I have the home field advantage anyway. You'd drown in a water fight against me." He raised his eyebrows when she spoke again, and a small sneeze came right afterwards. His lips turned briefly into a frown, but not for long.

"No, I don't think so. That's temperature stuff." Noah replied, looking up again. "But I can still soak you with this, if you're up for it." After all, if she was getting sick it couldn't get much worse. He looked back down at her again, smirking at the thought of drenching her so easily.
