Evan Coleman: A Wild Counselor Appears!

Hello Hammel! Evan is the newly-arrived school counselor, fresh out of college and grovelingly grateful to his Hammeltionian alma mater (CLASS OF '09!!!) for giving him work and a chance to make a difference for the budding metas of this generation!

Evan is a bombastic presence, alternating between energetically speaking, compulsively joking, and rapt attention. He is very susceptible to flights of fancy or pure insanity when he's alone or with people he's comfortable with. At work, he is almost solemn by default, and takes any issues that anyone presents to him very seriously and thoughtfully. He can take some very big-picture transcendentalist views of the world when not occupied with being snarky and goofy.

Right now, he is in need of the following things:

STUDENTS: Is your character going through something hard? Do they want to talk about anything? Evan is more than happy to listen and help in any way he can.
OLD FRIENDS: Evan was a graduate of Hammel's '09 class, and hung out mostly with the theater and borderline telepathic kids. Any graduates from around then that might be willing to be old friends/enemies/acquaintances?
OLD MENTORS: As a graduate, Evan would have cultivated some kind of relationship with his teachers (preferably in the english, history, and theater branches of the school). Any current or former teachers that might have been around then and interested?
LOVE INTEREST: Between his meta ability and general personality, Evan has had difficulty with maintaining relationships/significant others in the past. Has he matured enough to reasonably give something a go, or would your character be interested in him as is? No gender restrictions! Evan can swing any way there is to swing.
ROOMMATE: Most vital of all! Evan is looking for someone to split an apartment in town with! No previous knowledge of each other necessary, could easily have found each other through Craigslist or something.

Although he wouldn't seek it on his own, it'd have to be suggested by the school or something. I would definitely love to plot, though!

Under all of that bubbliness that Avi projects is someone who is scared and lost. Avi has no idea what she wants to do and is freaking scared out of her wits about the future. She doesn't see herself ever excelling at anything, and I think Evan would have to corner her to get her to admit that. It would be interesting to see how it works out ^.^

Gotta say, I absolutely LOVE your writing, it always leaves me smiling like a goof.
Anyway...

Renee/Evan - I'm so sorry! Renee always seems to be flirting with Evan and I can't stop it! He's just too adorable! But I love how uncomfortable she's been making him, considering he used to be a student. I'd love to do a thread with just these two sometime!

Brooke/Evan - So, Brooke has problems and has probably been getting counseling on a regular basis for the past couple years. It'd be interesting to have a counseling session or something with the two, with Evan as the new counselor and her having to transfer to him for some reason.

Oriel/Evan - This is just because I like throwing this guy at everyone for mischief. But he and Kodah(best friends pretty much) recently had a falling out(or fight rather). Might be a good idea to explore what can be done with this. Also, Oriel had problems. It might be high time he start getting help for that and Evan is more friendly-looking(and less intimidating) than Sean....though he might see Sean too later.

Graduated in 09 you say?! Well it just so happens that Amélie graduated that year as well! She's a free-spirited and kooky intellectual whose major love is food and friendship. Who knows, maybe back in school he was her first friend? She was an international student from Japan and her genuine bubbliness would have extended to him somehow, whether it be as a friend or acquaintance. Now that they are both back in Hanmel (same age as well!) I can see them catching up over a buffet or something equally silly.

If they were friends he could have been her confidante and refuge when things got tough...or when she needed something to eat. She really sucks in the romantic aspect, since everything is naturally platonic for her so maybe he could guide her into the realm of 'adulthood' and teach her a thing or two haha.

Renee/Evan: DO NOT STOP! It is awesome how you write her and I love it. We should absolutely do a thread with those two, ideally with Evan's guard completely down. Maybe a store or mall meeting? Malls lead to the most delightful awkwardness.

Brooke/Evan: It'd be interesting to explore a dynamic like that, especially if she's already receiving regular counseling. Maybe they don't necessarily meet in a therapist-patient context, though? It'd be very possible for them to just run into each other and start talking. Evan is very much the kind of person who would compulsively try to help, whether or not that help was welcome.

Oriel/Evan: I can tell! I've seen some of those threads and he looks delightful. It's interesting because Rain and I were just discussing starting a thread between Kodah and Evan to talk about that exact fight. Maybe having the two in parallel would create some interesting dynamics, although maybe Oriel could come/be sent to/be found by Evan for different reasons. Evan kinda likes to prowl the halls looking for distressed students (as much for the aesthetic experience as a sense of duty: he carries snacks to pair off with the emotions), so maybe they'd run into each other that way? It'd probably make for a fun and fiery dynamic to begin with . . .

Antoinette:

Yes. A million times yes. This girl would have knocked Evan over and trampled his face in high school and he would have loved every second of it. They definitely would have been people watching buddies, at least. Maybe he got her to try theater at one point or another (she seems like she'd be the ultimate stage manager)? Definitely a meet-up in the cards, and almost certainly at a restaurant. As to the adulthood part, this is also an eminent possibility to explore: Evan has his moments of hedonism, awkwardness, and sweetness that would be just great to explore with Amélie in an adult setting. So anyways, I have my dear Penelope who tends to be quite the handful, as you might now. And I have quite the character development planned out for her, so I was wondering if you maybe wanted to be part of it?

So, seeing as Penelope and Evan have already met, I figured it'd be easier for her to talk things through with him since she might trust him a little more than someone she haven't talked to yet.


Also, Lux! After the whole fight scene (Which Rain already talked to you about) she has quite a lot on her mind. She'd need someone to talk to and sort things out with. Also, she has a past that might need some peeking into as well.

And don't worry, these talks will be a lot more fun than Gabriel. Gabriel is quite the droll character. xD Anyways, let me know what you think (:

I love these ideas! If Renee saw Evan at the mall, she would definitely try to approach and get him all flustered again. But since he's an empath, he might also pick up on that a lot of her flirting is insincere, or that she often not as happy as she pretends to be. Could lead to some of her plot development.

Oriel would not go to counseling voluntarily. You'd have to find him in the halls or something.

Since Brooke has already been seeing a counselor, she's pretty much got it into a routine, so it's more likely that they'll have an official session. This is actually one I'd like to start right away if you're game?

The one with Renee too, we can start whenever you're ready. Oriel I'm going to have to wait on a little while the plot thickens. Just let me know!

Heya Ted!

I have Tomer (BIO), and since his uncle's boyfriend is Sean, it might be a little (or a LOT, who'm I kidding) awkward to talk to him as a counselor. He's got kind of a lot going on, he manifested less than two weeks ago and his meta side effect is partial paralysis, so he became meta and physically disabled in one swoop. Tomer would never go to Evan (or to Sean) because he doesn't want to bother them (thinks his own issues aren't as important and that he can get through them himself if he just thinks about it long/hard enough), so someday they'll just have to run into each other. Perhaps literally.

I also have Ferris, but as they have met at the party, they will indeed meet again later next term!

(I have Clement too, but he's a little better at avoiding authority figures.)

Mais oui! I'd be absolutely down to be a part of this. It looks like Evan will be going through this whole spiraling social circle right now, and I'd be more than happy to get involved with Penelope's overall character development. If she needs someone to talk to after the breakdown, or someone to prompt it in the first place, I think Evan would be an excellent choice. Likewise with Lux; it sounds like everyone's going to need to deal with this fallout (plus anything else that might be necessary).

And hey, don't knock Gabe. A nice relatively normal roommate is a lovely thing, especially when taken in contrast to this spiraling storm of confusion we have brewing here.

I say let's get started on that thread immediately with Brooke (feel free to start it, or I can if you'd prefer. Just link it to here). As to Oriel, Evan will probably seek him out after talking to Kodah, or else run into him "randomly". And absolutely yes with Renee. We can get started on that as soon as you please!

I'm enjoying the staff party arc quite a lot, and I look forward to getting more talk time in with Ferris. Tomer could be someone he runs into at school, either by chance or by pseudo-design. Do you have any thoughts on how that could be?
