"It's not completely horrible," Travis said into his cell phone. He was sitting at the edge of the pond, dipping the fingers of his free hand into the water. "I met someone, by the way. You were right."
"See? I knew you could do it. I personally don't see how anybody could resist that sexy face of yours."
"Shut-up, Michael, it is not," Travis said, smiling and blushing. Michael did not shut-up. On the contrary, he went on to describe some increasingly naughty desires. Travis glanced over his shoulder, then went back to staring intensely at the fish in the pond. He was sure that his ears were bright red by now. "Michael," he said, sounding mildly distressed. "Michael, stop it," he pleaded.
"What? I just want you to know how sexy you are."
"Got the message," Travis said with a gulp, "thanks."
"Hey, I gotta go help mom with dinner. I love you!"
"Love you too," Travis said softly, "bye."
He slipped his phone into his pocket and stared at the fish with blank expression. He swirled his fingers around in the water, playing gently with the koi whenever they got brave and swam close. His mind wandered. Mostly he thought about Michael.
Travis missed him, and his heart was still racing from the words Michael had whispered over the phone. He was trying not to think about it, but that was easier said than done. Okay, stop. Just stop. Look at the fish. Pretty fish. Shinny fish. Distracting fish. Totally.. distracting. Unfortunately, the fish were not all that distracting. His face was still red, and the corners of his mouth twisted as he tried to suppress a silly grin. Dammit, Michael. Why do you have to be so-- FISH! I'm thinking about fish, dammit! Seriously, gain some control over your brain, man!
