"Whoo, those kids'll take it out of you!" Darcy panted as the twins all but fell over each other into the staff lounge.
"You can say that again." Damien stretched, popping his back as he did so, before wandering over to the coffee pot. Meanwhile, Darcy promptly flopped onto the couch in exaggerated fashion.
The D&D twins did enjoy working at Hammel, they really did, but some days were more tiring than others. Those days were the ones they coached football as well as taught their communications class. At least football happened after class. That way they didn't have to worry about changing into non-sweaty clothing. Well, non-sweaty, and also slightly more professional.
Really, it was a bit weird to be a teacher as well as a coach, even if an unofficial coach. Coaching had always been their main thing until now, and now it was taking more of a back burner. Much as they liked teaching, it was weird.
"I think we have papers to grade," Damien mused as he sat next to the flopped out Darcy, and handed him one of the two coffee mugs.
"Ugh, don't remind me," Darcy groaned, dramatically of course, as he sat up for his coffee. Black, with just a dash of sugar, just as they liked it. Of course, before he'd liked a lot more creamer in it... a weird thought. "Why'd you get to pick coffee preferences, anyway?" he muttered, though already grinning at his own ridiculous question.
"Whaat?" Damien blinked at him. "Neither of us had a say in... oh haha." He snorted and shook his head.
People had asked them before already why they talked to each other so much, because really, they were essentially talking to themselves. The best way the twins had found to explain it was that it was like their version of an internal monologue, which most people had anyway. They just expressed it differently. That, and, well, habit. They'd talked to each other a lot well before they became one person.
"We really do need to get that adult soccer team set up," Darcy sighed, then laughed a bit.
Damien nodded, also grinning, as he voiced the source of their amusement, "Yeah, like we need something else to tire ourselves out with."
"Of course, though."
"Maybe."
"Well," Darcy said as the staff lounge's door began to open, admitting another staff member, "Why don't we ask them?" He shifted to address the newcomer, even before they'd fully entered, "What do you think? We have lots of spare time, right?"
