A Night To Remember
The sun was just starting to come up in the sky, giving the world some color again after the long night. Caelum was sitting up on a roof, enjoying the view with a smile stretched across his face. He still couldn’t believe how great his night had been. Even though he’d been awake since 8a.m. the previous morning, he hadn’t been able to go to sleep, hadn’t wanted the night to end. So instead of passing out in bed, he’d come up here to relive the night in his head over and over. As if it would somehow paste the images and feelings into his brain perfectly. Though he wasn’t likely to forget anytime soon, he didn’t want to loose any detail.

Since Caelum had made good on his promise to buy Kai some shampoo and soap to help de-glitterfy the man, Kai hadn’t been able to ‘torture’ him with his cooking. And though Caelum had been over a few times and they had seen each other since, there had never been enough time or planning for Kai to pull together an actual dinner. Caelum had teased Kai about it once, so the Asian man he decided to surprise him with a meal tonight and called him up to invite him over.
When Caelum walked in the door, he could smell the food on the stove before he even got both feet inside Kai’s place. The Asian man had a few candles burning and the light turned down in most of the rooms that Caelum could see, minus the kitchen where he was putting a few last minute touched on their meal. Caelum had been smiling the moment his hand hit Kai’s doorknob, but seeing the sights of the well planned dinner and the smells wafting from the kitchen, he couldn’t help but grin even more. And blush a bit. It was weird and exciting to have someone do something like this for him. But he definitely liked it.
“Ready for your torture?” Kai asked, startling Caelum who was still entranced by the candlelit dinning room.
Caelum spun around to face Kai and saw that the shampoo and soap had definitely been put to good use. Kai was dressed in a suit that fit very snug along the muscles of his chest. And his hair was perfectly jelled and tossed just so. He looked like the cover of a male model magazine. And Caelum was a bit speechless as the effect of someone so elegant and beautiful sneaking up on him so suddenly.
“I…uh…yeah?” Caelum said, pulling a bit awkwardly at his t-shirt. It was weird for him to have such trouble finding words. Usually he couldn’t shut up, even when there was no one around to listen. He shook his head a bit to clear it. “Everything looks great. Everything.” Of course Kai was included in that ‘everything’. “I feel a bit underdressed though,” he admitted with a sheepish smile.
“Nonsense,” Kai said, waving the concern away with a hand as he took a step towards Caelum. “Though anyone would feel underdressed in the presence of my godly cooking.” He returned the other man’s smile. He place a hand on the side of Caelum’s face before leaning in to kiss him. “You look wonderful,” he whispered in his ear.
And Caelum found himself speechless again.

Even as Caelum sat on the roof now, he wasn’t exactly sure how the two of them had ended up in Kai’s bedroom just moments after he’d walked in the door. There had been the kiss. A joke about how he would feel less underdressed if Kai was more undressed. And suddenly dinner had been forgotten. It was only afterwards when Caelum was lying in Kai’s arms, a bit exhausted but in a very good way, that he remembered there was dinner sitting on the stove somewhere.
The two had eventually returned to the dinning room, wearing far less clothing and Kai’s hair hadn’t been quiet so perfect. And while Caelum realized Kai hadn’t been joking about his god-like cooking abilities, he had the feeling their mean could have been cold pizza and it still would have tasted as wonderful.
Kai had returned to bed, and Caelum had come up here. Even now remembering the way Kai held him, like he somehow knew just when and were to touch him, Caelum felt he might burst. And though he hadn't really expected this relationship to move all that slow, he'd gotten the feeling that, at least at first, there had been something, or maybe someone, had been holding Kai back. He hadn't ever gotten the chance to ask about it. But he was certainly glad that Kai had moved past it, or him. Especially if that meant more nights like tonight.
