Halloween was always Ket’s favourite time of the year. It was when she got to make all the more interesting and gothic delicious things that she couldn’t do the rest of the year. Well, she could (and sometimes did) but there was significantly less demand for them in the other seasons. Today however was a beautiful fall day, and as she set up a stand on the market she was confident that her unique treats would draw some interest.
It wasn’t often that she sold off-site, away from the petting zoo where she worked and where her little bakery was based, but today was all about driving up interest and awareness about the petting zoo and that was far easier to do in a much more public setting. The stall was beautifully laid out in a black and white decor, with the sweet treats of course taking centre stage. The majority of the cakes were individual cupcakes and cake pops, but there were also a few larger cakes to be sold whole and others that could be sold by the slice.
Ket had made a real effort herself, wearing a black Victorian gothic style floor-length dress and lace fingerless glove, the look finished with an elegant mask. She had just finished filling the little stand beside the table with fliers for the petting zoo, full of information about the zoo as well as all their upcoming events and a map of how to get there from Pilot Ridge. It was still fairly early in the morning, so she wasn’t expecting too many people yet, but there was a bright smile on her lips as she double-checked to make sure everything was set out and ready.
