18's old enough, right? (open for two or three)

Salem knew there was no way he was about to go to a club, that just wasn't his scene. Plus, he was pretty sure 18 wasn't exactly old enough to get him inside. This was probably the reason he had decided to go during the day. Well, that and the fact he assumed his friends were planning something special for later in the evening. Going out on his own had become somewhat of a birthday tradition with him as well. A little lunch, maybe catch a movie...typical teenager stuff really. Just, by himself. Not that he wouldn't have minded the company, it was just more a present to himself. 

In fact, he had already seen a movie earlier. Some post apocalyptic teen book/turned movie, with an actor that looked an awful lot like Anthony. Maybe that was just Salem missing his best friend.  That alone was a great feeling to have honestly. It was something that he had not felt in awhile, well, towards the people he cared about. Now however, he was focused on what to do next. His stomach growled, but he had really never been to this part of town and wasn't sure where any good restaurants were at.

So he shrugged it off and instead pulled out a cigarette. He chuckled to himself as he lit it, because now he didn't really have to hide them. Being 18 was definitely going to have it's perks it seemed. To be nice to others, Salem stepped part of the way into an alleyway to smoke. Yes, he was almost fully back to his old self and he couldn't be happier. He leaned against a wall, shook his messy blonde hair and glanced up at the sky as he took a long drag. 

[Delilah Pryce]

How long Delilah had been lurking in the alley was anybody's best guess, but it probably hadn't been long. She was sitting on top of an overturned milk crate further back in the shadows watching the people on the street outside pass back and forth. Delilah had been growing restless in her attempt to live the more legal lifestyle and it was about to drive her insane. She wanted to go straight, but what she was just didn't want to change. She didn't want to hurt people, no, she was itching for something small, something just large enough to give her that thrill again. Pickpocketing. It was small, harmless, and something she could do with her eyes closed. She had already lifted a few wallets tonight but still hadn't felt that right sort of tingle.

She sighed a little, staring forward, unlit cigarette in her hand. Perhaps it was time to abandon ship and head back to Jade for the evening? At least with Jade, Delilah knew some fun would be had. As she sat there turning the idea over and over in her mind, a scrawny teenager slipped into the alley, clearly unaware of Delilah's presence. He lit up a cigarette and just sort of melted in the safety of the alley shadows. Delilah pushed her long dark hair back from part of her face and looked the boy over. He was put together well enough so not a street urchin, maybe introductions were in order. Delilah was bored after all and a little small talk might help lift that veil.

The small sound of a Zippo lighter clicked from Delilah's position as she lit her cigarette. A large cloud of smoke poured out in front of her face before she spoke. "Does ya momma know you're down her smokin' her cigs?," Delilah asked, her cigarette hanging from her mouth in order to help her conceal a smile.

The click of the lighter caught his ear first, so the sound of the woman's voice didn't totally shock him. Salem turned to see who this was and smiled a little. Yes, he had intended to be alone, but talking to someone wouldn't hurt and though something seemed...off...she didn't seem like a threat or anything he should be worried about. "Naw, Momma don't smoke. She ain't to happy I do, but she doesn't mind either." The blonde gave her a small smile. "Plus, I'm old enough. Just turned 18 today." This fact alone was probably the reason Salem was being chatty.

Chatty, but still a bit reserved, that was after all, his way. Now, he tilted his head and looked at her. She looked sort of sad to Salem, or maybe it was just her eyes. He couldn't really tell if she was or not, but being kind to someone took nothing from you, so he wasn't about to be rude to her. Except when he realized he had forgotten to introduce himself. Despite several facts, Salem tried his best to be a gentleman, and part of that was always to introduce yourself to a lady.

"I'm sorry, didn't mean to be rude and not say...My name's Salem." His slow country accent was cheerier than usual that day. "Pleasure to meet you." The boy even held his hand out. He knew the woman was older than him, and honestly he wasn't sure what the exact proper greeting was, but he figured this would do.

The country drawl was caught quickly by Delilah's ears. She couldn't quite place the accent but she knew she heard it before. To Yankees, all southern accents were the same, but not to those who hailed from said southern states. Delilah had no memories of where she grew up and only knew where she was from because of the medical file she had lifted from Sean's office. It hadn't been hard to accomplish, even with Hammel's so called security. Hammel hadn't changed that much since her time and thanks to her photographic memory, Delilah was able to slip in and out without being noticed. She made sure not to dig too deep in the file, just gleaned basic info about her past. She steered away from anything relating to her parents as she just had this feeling bad things resided there. The file was long gone now, burned and reduced to ash.

She took a long slow draw off her cigarette before standing up, closing the gap between Salem and herself with a graceful flow. Delilah wasn't exactly girly, but her body moved like that of a delicate dancer. Small things like this slipped out without Delilah really knowing. She could copy any normal physical movement so having the movements of some ballerina she met ten years ago were safely and permanently stored within her mind and body. With her last step, Delilah slipped her hand out to take Salem's. She didn't put too much force behind the shake as it wasn't one of a business deal, just something out of politeness. "You....," she said, eyeing Salem up and down, "...can call me Delilah," she finished, letting her hand fall from Salem's. She took another draw off her cigarette, blowing the smoke off to the side.

With a rather weird little laugh, Delilah winked at Salem, "Birthday boy eh? Fancy yourself a man now?," she asked, that weird crooked smile of hers still plastered on her face. "Tell ya what Jethro. I"m feeling like the cat who at the canary tonight, so....lucky you," she said, only adding to the strangeness of the moment. Holding out one hand, she flipped it over back and forth as if she was showing it was empty. Then with another wink, Delilah brought her other hand up and folded her hands over one another rapidly. With a quick flick of her wrist, she held out her right hand, a Zippo lighter sitting there neatly in her palm. A bit of close up magic, sleight of hand to be more accurate. Delilah had spent a lot of time in Vegas, even assisting a few magicians here and there, learning the trade as she went. "Go on now. It won't bite, " she said teasingly, moving closer to Salem, her and still open and waiting for Salem to take the lighter.

For a moment, Salem wasn't sure if she was making fun of his accent or had one of her own. He was so used to hearing the more northern version of the drawl, that it was hard to tell. It became clear however, that she was indeed from the south. He watched her move closer and had to admit she was graceful. Far more so than he could ever be. In fact only a short time earlier he'd falling and skinned his knee, but he was so used to that by now that it didn't really bother him. She took his hand and gave it a gentle shake as she introduced herself and Salem smiled politely. "It's very nice to meet you Delilah." With his own cigarette in his other hand, he took a drag himself and blew the smoke in the opposite direction.

The blonde laughed a little. "No, hell, I'm still a kid...I think. But yeah, it is my birthday." Did she just call him Jethro? Was that sarcasm or an insult, he really wasn't sure. Though it didn't seem like an insult, so he let it slide. Now, he was busy watching her hands. They were like lightening, he'd seen people do this on tv and always wondered if people could really do, besides meta's of course. "Wow." He gasped as the Zippo just appeared. When she held it out for him to take he was a bit cautious about it. "How on Earth did ya do that?" He asked as he reached for the lighter.

((OOC: I'm gonna assume Salem has a wallet for this next part, for sake of comic relief. If I'm wrong in this, just let me know via pm and I'll change the post.))

Delilah couldn't help but smile at Salem's look of awe of her simple 'street magic'. It was just simple slight of hand, a easy enough trick for someone of Delilah's ability. Delilah let Salem close the gap between the two of them as he reached for the lighter. Truth be told, Delilah wasn't all that comfortable having someone of the male persuasion this close to her but for the sake of her next trick she was dealing with the slight anxiety. Salem wasn't much of a threat and his personality was sort of disarming. He was just a kid after all, despite what the law stated. Delilah was looking at forty in a few years, and eighteen seemed a lifetime ago.

She leaned in a bit closer as Salem took the lighter, still smiling as she kept constant eye contact. Delilah was used to this next part or should I say this entire act. It was simple distraction. Salem was too busy trying to figure out just how Delilah seemingly made the lighter appear from nowhere. Too busy in fact to notice just what Delilah's other hand was doing.

She slowly stepped back palming Salem's wallet as he now held the lighter. "I'm full of tricks," she said, holding up Salem's wallet for him to see. Delilah tossed the wallet back to Salem with a bit of a giggle. "I worked in Vegas for a while, learned all sorts of nifty little tricks while I was there," she added with a wink. "So tell me, where ya'll heading this fine fine evening?," she asked sort of getting restless now. Delilah knew Salem was only eighteen but she knew where he could get a drink or two, most of the dives around here didn't bother carding, just as long as they got some green in return.
